i liked metallica's older stuff better than there new (who doesn't?), but my favorite song out of all would be master of puppets.

i like how it goes from there normal stuff in that song, to nice and soft and slow, then to unique solo's

i also like enter sandman, its a preety well balanced song.

lets try to keep this thread alive
I totally agree with you there but I'm more into Kill 'em All and Ride The Lightning than anything else. That's not to say I won't listen to
And justice or the older albums, (hell the first cd i ever owned to
was ...And Justice for All), but from Puppetz and below was and will always
be Metallica at their best

i say they sell all the cds, some music videos, some live stuff, some stuff about cliff, the 300 page book and poster, and then we get to listen to lars ulrich(still an awesome drummer) bitch about not getting enough money for it all.

Well if people want to talk about Metallica songs outside the fade to black, master of
puppets, etc box, then lets talk about songs like Fight fire with fire, Orion, Blackened,
and Wherever I may roam. First off, songs like fight fire w/ fire and blackened are the
epitome of what (Just my opinion, I don't want to
start no fights) Metallica should sound like. They started off as thrash and should end as thrash. I love the intro to fight fire with fire. It starts off as a soft melody that masks the brutal grind that follows. I LOVE when metal bands do that. I try to implement in my own song whenever possible.
Next, Songs like Orion are just ****ing awesome. I noticed that clear up to the
black album, every album had an instrumental piece.
(My Personal favorite Instrumental is The Call of the Ktulu.) This is a clear example of
musicianship that so many other bands lack. I think that metallica's popularity
with some of their more hardcore fans dwindled when they stopped doing these.
Lastly, Songs like Wherever I May Roam really drive the musicianship point home.

JACKROXYOU 02-03-2005 06:35 PM

good for you :thumb:

but people like fade, master, etc

myself i love the tracks you mentioned, just dont forget disposable heroes

orian rocks

I think that the perfect example of what Metallica should be is the ...and justice for all cd. You have the thrash on blackened and dyers eve, one and ...and justice for alll are just 2 amazing songs that have quiet, loud, fast, and slow parts, and then theres the instrumental with a little acoustic part, to live is to die. People say that there only good albums were there first three but i highly disagree.

I'd have to say that I'd disagree, but only because of the lack of bass on that album. Blackened is a sweet song though, I haven't listened to it for a long time.

I wanna rent it before i buy it ,gotta get some monney though

Freezing Moon 02-03-2005 07:44 PM

I want to see it, I hear they got a cheap shot on Mustaine in it though..

I don't understand the rivalry. I don't see why Dave is so sore, but I don't see why its a big deal in the first place either. I'd be pissed if I was kicked out of Metallica, but I wouldn't care like 20 years later, especially if I created Megadeth.

MoX_KIll 02-03-2005 07:58 PM

Very true.....Megadeth is my 3rd favourite band they can make just as good music as metallica...but he may be jealous of their popularity and their $$$$

Huber 02-03-2005 08:34 PM

Dave Mustaine in my eyes is a good musician, but nothing more as a person. If he shows more of what he did after he hosted the Dimebag headbanger's ball than maybe I'll give him some more credit.

A 20 year fued is just ridiculous. I think we can all agree that Slayer, Metallica, and Megadeth are all Thrash pioneers. I don't think Mustaine realises how much better it'd be to have a good relationship with them.

Well.. Some people are just like that. Mustaine can't help that he's a dick sometimes. Or for 20 years.. Imagine being kicked out of Metallica yourself, you'de more than likely be pissed you got kicked out of a sucessful band..
20 YEARS MAN! 20! I haven't even experienced that many years of existance and I know I'd probably forgive by now!
But the pain he's gone through. He's just been number two all these years. He's been through 20 years of being the number two guy. He was the guitarist of the greatest band ever, and just effed himself up

Yeah hes kinda odd like that. I'm sure I'd forgive someone after 20 years.. But you gotta take into concideration what gocaps said about always being number 2..

MoX_KIll 02-03-2005 08:58 PM

Does Mustaine get any of metallica's money for helping with some songs and such ?
