I'm trying to find some Doom that sounds like Warning (on the album Watching From a Distance, I wasn't a fan of their other record). Any suggestions?

Nostalgia 06-13-2010 01:30 AM

No. Warning sounds like nothing else.

And how the **** do you not like watching from a distance?

He is implying that he didn't like The Strength to Dream.

rotanimile 06-13-2010 01:37 AM

he was saying he didn't like strength to dream i think

Nostalgia 06-13-2010 01:37 AM

lmao i read that as the strength to dream hahaha

but yeah still no

rotanimile 06-13-2010 01:39 AM

strength to dream rules

so do their demos

Nostalgia 06-13-2010 01:41 AM

yeah std is awesome, but both full lengths are perfect to me

I really wish they did an acoustic version of Faces or Echoes instead of Bridges, though
He is implying that he didn't like The Strength to Dream.
Correct. Strength to Dream was crap compared to Watching from a Distance.

Nostalgia 06-14-2010 04:09 PM

Probably because you listened to it thinking it would sound similar to Watching From a Distance. Why would you compare them, anyway? There's a seven year gap between the two albums.

rotanimile 06-14-2010 05:07 PM

has there been any good doom this year besides hour of 13

That's true. I guess I was kind of screwed out of liking Strength to Dream anyway because I was introduced through Watching From a Distance. They really are totally different.

Sleep is a band I'm into a lot now. Clutch, Kyuss, Black Sabbath, Weedeater, EyeHateGod, Neurosis, Bongzilla even.

Great bands.

RetiredAt21 06-16-2010 09:56 AM

EHG roolz. First three albums all crush.

FatalEnergy 06-16-2010 02:58 PM

For sure.

I really want to find a link to download this album. Awesome doom/drone from Ireland. Let me know if anybody finds a link.

ATM 07-01-2010 09:15 AM

Who's hitting up Sleep in Philly or NY? I will probably be at the Philly show.

Nostalgia 07-02-2010 03:52 PM

What do you guys think of Yearning's With Tragedies Adorned? If you're a fan of doom, make sure to get it. A lot of the riffs remind me of early WHW and even Warning at times.

Have you tried Bison B.C
It's more of a sludgy doom metal
but the riffs are ace, so I'd definitely recommend it

Nepenthe 07-03-2010 05:20 PM

new bison bc is pretty rad

SlightlyEpic 07-03-2010 05:23 PM

listened to Worship for the first time today

holy **** is it good

FatalEnergy 07-04-2010 12:33 AM

One of the best funeral doom bands.

dUSK 07-07-2010 01:04 AM

Word is that ex-diSEMBOWELMENT members have been looking for a new vocalist to continue on in the Death/Doom style, and that now the vocalist from Ignivomous is auditioning for it.

I really hope it comes to fruition.

DarkNoctus 07-07-2010 08:49 AM

why yes, I do enjoy my Electric Wizard and Year Of No Light

dubtr3 07-07-2010 06:10 PM

Pelican, Kyuss, Queens of the stone age...I saw Eyehategod a while ago which was awesome. My friend showed me an Electric Wizard song a while back and I remember thinking it was good. An I know this is bad, but I have not listened to Isis yet... Hoping to get my hands on some of their albums soon.

FatalEnergy 07-08-2010 02:18 AM

Isis is boring

feav233 07-08-2010 05:48 AM

never thought they were bad, however never really listened to them to any great extent

DarkNoctus 07-08-2010 09:03 AM

I love the sound that Isis make, and I don't find them boring at all.

but i suck so yeah c:

Phototropic 07-08-2010 10:31 AM
