Apocalyptic Raids 09-26-2005 09:49 AM
Yeah, well we best not talk about At The Gates in here. Ryan will get out his non-thrash beating stick and we'll both be for it :p

Jon, is the Apocalyptic Raids EP worth getting off Ebay, cause I've been considering it for quite a while now. I can't find it any music shops.

That particular EP is certainly worth getting if the price is right.

Ryan and his beating stick are just scoundrel poseurs anyways :9
Do any of you like Kreator?
Hell yes! \m/ I have Coma Of Souls, it rocks a*s!

I've also been seriously hooked on Testament's "The Gathering" lately

Apocalyptic Raids 09-26-2005 10:04 AM

Kreator do rule. I need more of their stuff, come to think of it.

+-scotty-+ 09-26-2005 10:11 AM

I've got the whole discography. They're ****in' awsome! :thumb:

Format C: For Cortex 09-26-2005 10:43 AM

Oh God, Kreator kick serious arse!!! "Enemy Of God" is brilliant thrash!

I've been listening to loads of Slayer! And Lamb Of God, they're excellent. Not sure if they're thrash though. No, they ain't. What are they? On the whole I'm much more a fan of Death than Thrash though.

Why do people like Megadeth? I can't stand them!!! I like Slayer, and Metallica (not nearly as much as I used to though, haven't listened to tham in a while). But why are Megadeth considered on a par with these bands? I just don't flipping get it... could someone explain to me why they are so loved by thrashers?

I don't really like them that much but they are a good band! Lamb of God are a death/thrash metal band I'd say and they are one of my favourite bands. I'm goin to see them in December!

Format C: For Cortex 09-26-2005 11:00 AM

So am I!!! They be playing London on, I think, the 5th! I am soooo there, girlfriend! If there was a single breath I could take....

+-scotty-+ 09-26-2005 11:04 AM

They're playin' in Wolverhampton on the 5th. That's where I'm goin! I think they play London on the 8th. They're an awsome band! :thumb:

Format C: For Cortex 09-26-2005 11:14 AM

I don't hear any death metal in them though. Definitely cos of the breakdowns and stuff there's some sort of 'core in Lamb of God. The guitars are like thrash for sure, but also a lot like hardcore. But they don't sound like the metalcore bunch. Am I being a simpleton here?

+-scotty-+ 09-26-2005 11:16 AM

They're not metalcore but I'd still say a death/thrash metal band. Have you heard 'Burn the Priest'?

DimebagDarrell 09-26-2005 11:27 AM

LOG are pretty kool actually one of the few newer bands i like. I saw em at download and i was thinking he could never do that vocal live but he does the crowd were ****ing insane too great show im going to the nottingham gig in december

I've heard some of their old stuff, which also kicks much derriere, but the production isn't as polished, although some of the songs have a really brutal, raw sound to them, that makes you want to KILL! I've heard bits of "As The Palaces Burn" and "Burn The Priest", but it's "Ashes Of The Wake" that keeps orbiting within my CD player. I can play a few of the songs on it too, it's fun!!

The guitarists are ****in' awsome! I prefer 'As the Palaces Burn' for the fact that it has 'Ruin' and '11th Hour'. I love rippin' out 'Laid to Rest' though. YEAH MAN!

Format C: For Cortex 09-26-2005 12:23 PM

Laid To Rest is a surprisingly easy song to play! The instrumental title track "Ashes Of The Wake" has some bloomin' hard solos in it though. I can play the riffs (some of those are a bit tricky too) but the solos make me die. "Hourglass" is wicked as well. Hmm, I just got the tabs for "Angel of Death" and "Raining Blood" to add to my Slayer Repertoire ;) Though I've no chance of playing them solos....

11th Hour.. what a song. That into riff with the double kick makes me murder civilians.

LOL!!! I just typed that lyric in caps into the post I just did! Lol. I love the scream at the beginning of that song. At first it sounds like a pinch harmonic lol. Unless it *is* a pinch harmonic. erm... I am confused.

No, that's ****in' Tom singin' dude. The best scream in a metal song!

Format C: For Cortex 09-26-2005 12:36 PM

Yeah! Tom Araya! Such a good vocalist. Although some of the really fast vocals remind me of rap too much and that upsets me. LOL!

+-scotty-+ 09-26-2005 12:39 PM

Nah it's all good ol' thrash!

+-scotty-+ 09-26-2005 12:44 PM

DisposableHeroes 09-26-2005 01:25 PM

It seems to get a bit samey at some points, but its a decent listen for a thrash mood

metal-militia 09-26-2005 01:29 PM

Yeah, the songs were ptretty similar, but if they were all pretty good, so it didn't bother me too much :)

See, that's one of the reasons why I don't listen to Slayer right there. And yes, I know, Tom didn't have any actual racist intentions when writing it, but being from a family that was heavliy decimated during the holocaust, that song really does disturb me.

And while I do not condone censorship, I do believe that they went too far on this one. It's one thing to write songs with the intention of giving people a fright, or to create and eerie mood, but that's really just tasteless.

RCA 09-26-2005 03:06 PM

If anybody raves about Slayer fanboyishly, talks about Lamb of God, or says something that praises an At The Gates album that isn't The Red In The Sky Is Ours or With Fear..., I'm going to blow up the internet.

HNLzero 09-26-2005 03:27 PM

I never understood this thread.

RCA 09-26-2005 03:28 PM
I never understood this thread.
There's not much to understand. All you need to know, is that this is the place of thrash metal and all it's glory. :)
