I've got the bassline from "Chains" (new Duran Duran song on the CD that came out yesterday, yeah I'm a geek, sue me) running through my head and I wanna be at home with my bass hashing it out until I nail it.

*twitch* 'Scuse me. My left hand keeps wanting to fret notes, darnit!

Makes my hand ache just THINKING about playing GoF. I have a little .mov that a friend took at one of the Webley shows in April of him during that song...

Noushi 10-13-2004 10:30 AM

Heh, Duran Duran. Wicked.

ShelBel 10-13-2004 10:34 AM

Saw 'em on R & K already. Meh. Wish they would've played something other than Hungry Like The Wolf, but oh well.

BTW- their new CD is good. Lovin' JT's basslines. 'Specially "Chains".

...and I'm back! anyone miss me? anyone at all?

Wintermute 10-13-2004 12:27 PM

Just put down a deposit on a 6 stringer, which I wasn't expecting to do! For details see the 'Prospective new bass, can anyone identify?' thread on the first page, I'm stumped as to what model it is. I know it's a dean, but it's non of the stock models.

gaslight 10-13-2004 12:29 PM

Winter, can you be on the lookout for those spam links? I saw a few floating around.

Wintermute 10-13-2004 12:31 PM

I'll keep my eyes open - if you spot any post links here and I'll squash them.

Espbassor 10-13-2004 12:31 PM

EDIT: nm, I looked around and found out.

And that one, that's all I got for now.

Wintermute 10-13-2004 12:44 PM

Dealt with.

I see you use AIM - message me on straylightascent if you see any more.

That goes for all of you, my AIM and YIM addresses are the same, my MSN address is gehennaprophet@hotmail.com - if I'm on one, I'm on them all.

Got their new CD yet Joe?

I have a couple of demos in .mp3 that didn't make it... "Pretty Ones" and "Virus" are definitely worth a listen to. And tell me if the bassline from "Chains" doesn't worm its way into your brain and make you crazy.

*twitches* GAH!

JoeDaddio 10-13-2004 01:00 PM

heh. I was wondering when you were going to chme in on this. I though you and I were the only Duran Duran fans here. Although I'm not a huge fan, I do like their music, and I have a few albums. I don't have the new one, but my buddy does and I've heard pieces of it. I should have him burn it for me. I have there best of album on right now, that he burnt for me.

Just a funny background story on that... the best of CD was burnt for me by my best friend, who is gay. On the front of the CD he drew huge SS bolts and wrote "keep the spitit alive!" (its a running joke... funny if you knew the whole story) and then he wrote "From: your gay boyfriend."

So I was listening to the CD on my dads comp, and I left it in there, whatever. I come back up later that night, and my dad has the CD, and he's like "Ummm... joe... what is this?" I'm all "Oh... its Duran Duran...." And he says "Uh, I know that, but what is this?" And he points at it, and I say. "Its a CD. Gonzo (my buddys moniker) burnt it for me." And he says "Mike is gay?" And I'm all "Um, yeah. You didn't know?" so he says no, and then he's like, "So.... uh... umm... you're... not.... uh, gay.... or anything..... are you....? I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that." And I kind of laugh and I go "Dad, I'm 22 years old. If I were gay, I'm pretty sure you'd know about it by now." So he sounds all relieved, and says okay. So then I say, in a totally serious voice "But, dad. There is something that I have to tell you." and he looks up at me kind of scared. And I say "I do like fat girls." and there was dead silence for about 30 seconds. And I say "Well, not fat, but chubby.... you know." And he looks at me, and I walk out of the room.

Anyway... I thought it was funny!
