Honestly, Snoop's "Riders on the Storm" remix isn't bad.

BludgeonySteve 12-13-2004 10:44 PM

I haven't heard it but I can just imagine he butchered it.

BillCosby 12-13-2004 11:50 PM

What do you guys think of Bon Jovi? I realize he's more eighties stuff, but some consider music like that classic rock. frankly....i can't stand him. His songs are overly cheesy, although i don't mind Richie Sambora.
i think had it not been for MTV, singers like him really wouldn't be very famous, he seems to be more about image than music.

gmoneyguy 12-14-2004 01:51 PM

Im not a fan either

I agree with you 100%, I really can't stand a lot of 80's music. It was all so cheesy.

I pretty much agree with that list Badmoon, but I would've switched Mule and SCI. I still haven't gotten Space Wrangler :(

Phantasm 12-14-2004 02:07 PM

like i said before the snoop remix is decent. it could have been worse

Phantasm 12-14-2004 02:08 PM

i cant stand bon jovi

that guy is exactly right.

Phantasm 12-14-2004 02:28 PM

I don't agree with all of it. I just think that the part about John Lennon not being one of the best guitarists ever is true. As song writing goes, John Lennon and Paul McCartney are the best song writing team ever.

jpj 12-14-2004 02:34 PM

In all honesty I've never heard anyone call Lennon the best guitarist ever, so I found that point to be completely irrelevant. It's clear that Lennon's playing ability is mediocre at best, but his guitar playing is not why he is thought to be one of the greatest songwriters of all time.

I hate 80's hair metal.

I hes not, but do you really have to make such a revelation in a Beatles thread if at all?

Broken Arrow 12-14-2004 03:36 PM

Why would anyone ever say John is the best guitarist ever? Even the biggest Lennon fan knows that George is the better of the two.

thickasabrick 12-14-2004 03:37 PM

the problem people have with the beatles, is that they think a good band means just good musicians. they don't look at songwriting, or creativity or any of that. like we all know john lennon wasn't as good as jimi hendrix (at guitar), but he could write amazing lyrics and he was extremely creative. the rest of the guys are kinda the same deal, people expect them to be tearing out red hot solo's every five seconds, but they weren't that kind of band, and they shouldn't be considered crappy just because of that.

edit- i notice it was that guys first post...hopefully his last as well.

jpj 12-14-2004 03:44 PM

Thickasabrick are you stil doing that concert thingy?

thickasabrick 12-14-2004 03:47 PM

i've gotta talk to a teacher about it, i am going to do it after christmas break, because i need to think of a good set list. and then plan it out with a teacher, and schools done in about a week so i don't think i would have time. i've talked to some friends and they are in on it, so i've got a few different bands/performers already.

Badmoon 12-14-2004 03:57 PM
I pretty much agree with that list Badmoon, but I would've switched Mule and SCI. I still haven't gotten Space Wrangler :(
Well, I have heard tones from every band on that list, so my opinion over rules yours. :p
i liked that Jam Bands thing, did you make that Badmoon?
Yea, I made it.

And I like Bon Jovi. They have incredible talent, and write good songs.

thickasabrick 12-14-2004 03:58 PM

what band is the first that comes to mind when someone mentions classic rock?

someone told me to name a Classic Rock band i listen to today, and i realized i can't name just one without having to name a few more. I ended up saying Jethro Tull just to see if the person would go "oh i like him too"

jpj 12-14-2004 03:59 PM

I suggested a few more songs, but it was when you came in hammered so I don't think you saw them
Well, I have heard tones from every band on that list, so my opinion over rules yours.
For your information I've heard every band on there also, you poopoo head  :p

Badmoon 12-14-2004 04:00 PM

*heard of
you like Bon Jovi as a band? or Bon Jovi himself (jon bon jovi)? because i don't mind the band, they do have talent, but i just really don't like him that much.

thickasabrick 12-14-2004 04:01 PM

can you re-mention the bands you told me? because i don't remember, and i'm not sure what page that woulda been on..pretty far back.

Badmoon 12-14-2004 04:01 PM

He has a very talented voice.

jpj 12-14-2004 04:04 PM
can you re-mention the bands you told me? because i don't remember, and i'm not sure what page that woulda been on..pretty far back.
I forget what they were :(
*heard of
No, I've heard songs from every band on their :)

thickasabrick 12-14-2004 04:05 PM

that's a good enough reason i suppose.

edit- i gotta go to work. if you think of those bands jpjrulestheworld just post em or tell me later. i'm teaching one of my students Mr Tambourine Man and it's disappointing how uninterested he is, i may have to learn a Good Charlotte song for tonight.

Badmoon 12-14-2004 04:06 PM

Aquarium Rescue Unit? Come on! Other than maybe Keep on Phishin', no one knows them.

Though I can't prove you wrong, I'm watchin' you.

jpj 12-14-2004 04:37 PM

I guarantee you I have heard at least one song from every band on that list.

Woodstock 12-14-2004 04:37 PM

I saw Robert Randolph and the Family Band on the Crossroads Guitar Festival. They were great, and he really is a great pedal steel guitar player.

jpj 12-14-2004 04:41 PM

I just found out Rusted Root is going to be at Station Square on New Year's Eve and tickets are free . Too bad there's no way my dad would take me :(

BludgeonySteve 12-14-2004 05:21 PM

To catch up:

I like Bon Jovi. So what if it's cheesey? It sounds good!

That guy in the beatles thread is very ignorant. So is that n00b who agreed.

Yay, Jam band talk in the thread! This should double as a hippy rock thread... <----that's actually a good idea.

Bloo 12-14-2004 05:42 PM

I don't see what's so great about Bon Jovi, what seperates them from other 80's hair metal bands?

Kreator2112 12-14-2004 05:45 PM

664 pages, good god. i like other bands from the 80s alot more than bon jovi. ex: van halen, priest, maiden, scorpions, dio, motley crue, and a whole lot of others

BludgeonySteve 12-14-2004 06:13 PM
I don't see what's so great about Bon Jovi, what seperates them from other 80's hair metal bands?
He was like a pop star. Amazing voice, good looking, trivial lyrics, high energy show, flashy guitarist. People eat that kind of stuff up.

Including me, (- the good looking part. He's a guy after all).

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 12-14-2004 06:34 PM

does anyone like Bad Company?

Badmoon 12-14-2004 06:42 PM
I don't see what's so great about Bon Jovi, what seperates them from other 80's hair metal bands?
Each member has an amazing amount of talent, they harmonize well, and they just write good songs.

MalcolmYoungRock 12-14-2004 06:44 PM

We don't talk about Eric Clapton enough...

Quickly, your favorite Eric Clapton CD (could be any band he was in) and why GO!

Cream - Disraeli Gears

Kick *** CD all around.

Kreator2112 12-14-2004 06:44 PM

bad company is decent i guess, 1 good song for every 10 bad ones

Badmoon 12-14-2004 06:46 PM
We don't talk about Eric Clapton enough...
Wow! You are wrong!
