Same here. I love the intro, and some other parts through out the song, but as a whole...
...I rather Face of Melinda.
Or Benighted. :) |
The clean songs in Still Life just fit in so well with the eerie atmosphere. Plus, they help tell the story.
|
I personally think that's the worst song on the album...I got more used to Damnation era clean songs, so the earlier ones sound a bit odd to me.
 FOM rules for the reasons Jude posted. Theres just so much emotion/power in it! |
Anyone else in here a big fan of Wreath? Right now that's one of my current Opeth favorites.
and also, the long guitar solo in A Fair Judgement is just simply...wow. |
^ I was REALLY into Wreath when I first got Deliverance. Awesome song, and though it's kinda died off on me right now, I still think its the most under-rated Opeth song. That second solo is madness, as well as Mikaels growls on the last few verses.
|
I love Wreath, especially when the vocals start in the beginning.
|

His growls on that song are even more harsh than on just about any other Opeth track I've ever heard. |
Yeah, the only song that he sounds as evil/angry in is Demon Of The Fall, but theres no effects in Wreath! The part where he says a growled line and then a breif clean line.. so awesome.
|

Yeah, it really shows that Mikael is one of the most talented vocalists to ever come out of the metal scene. |
I just listened to Wreath again and it's even better than I remembered. Awesome!
|
Yeah I thought Wreath is quite underappreciated.
I started liking it after I watched the documentary for Damnation and Deliverance. That and "By the pain I see in others". |
I need to get Lamentations some day, so I can watch that damn documentary
|
I saw it in a store for 19.99 once. Incrdeible price I would say considering the prices of a cd.
I didn't get it though... |
http://dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=570485 9 bucks
free shipping for us customers (as far as i remember... I'm from denmark so I didn't get free shipping) |
I have soooooooooo many Opeth albums I still need to get. :( I love them way too much to live off Orchid and Ghost Reveries alone.
Hopefully I'll be able to match Mike's clean tone on Damnation with my new axe. :D I plan on mastering Windowpane by then, which shouldn't take long since I know the whole song already. It will be the first time I ever learn and record a full song. |
I only have Still Life and Morningrise :(
I'de like to record, but I dont have any equipment or program too so yeah... I would liek to learn an Opeth Acoustic song, Don't know which though. |
I've seen it for 199 Skr (Swedish crowns), that would be like 25 USD. That's the cheapest that I've seen. I know, CD's and DVD's are ridicolously expensive here, 25% VAT on almost everything.
|
I got Lamentations for 11 bucks on Amazon. You can too, try it.
Anyone who sees any website selling Opeth shirts that are medium or small (preferably small) please alert me |
^ www.infinity1.com
i got my opeth shirts like an hour ago... i got the still life one and the white T with opeth up front and in the back it says "look your last upon the sun" i want a morningrise shirt tho |
I want the one that says "Look Your Last Upon the Sun", but I do have a sweet imported Damnation shirt coming as we speak. Check it out:

I think there's a legitimately free one called Audacity, but I got my copy of Cool Edit Pro free... Then either get a cheap mic or a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter to record via line in and you're good to go. I suggest Closure and Benighted for fun acoustic songs. |

I got that one for Christmas. Good shirt. |

It's not the funniest. It's the best to play AND sing along to. |
did anyone notice during closure in "lamentations" when mikael is singing the part "redemtion for my pathos" it sounds JUST like he's saying "redemption for my penis" i laugh everytime...
|
I do need an Opeth shirt. I'm surprised I already Have an Age of Silence shirt but not an Opeth.
|

I just realized how strange Beneath The Mire is...guitars, drums, keyboards, lyrics, and especially they way it was put together...definitely the most eerie song on Ghost Reveries.
|
It is a very strange song. I love it; one of my favorites on GR.
|
Yes, but my favorite song on that album still remains Reverie/Harlequin Forest. I absolutely love the twin harmonies on that track.
