lunch998 06-26-2005 11:09 PM

All I did today was recover from last night, buy a couple CDs, and play some cards.

Endless Obsession 06-26-2005 11:10 PM

Pot Stickers, Chiken Fried Rice, and General Tso's chicked at 1:10 at night is incredible. God i love Chineese food.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-26-2005 11:14 PM

Ray- Dammit.

Lunch- What cd's?

Blythe- General Tsao chicken is good at any time of the day. Lettuce wraps are the crowning chinese food though. I think the best Chinese I've ever had was ironically when I was vacationing in Canada.

13th Floor Elevators - Bull of the Woods

My CD purchases pwn yours. Mainly because I don't like Incubus much and don't know the other.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-26-2005 11:18 PM

That's one of the Incubus cd's(or is it a demo?) that I have yet to purchase. I have SCIENCE(screw all the periods), Make Your Self, and Crow Left of the Murder. I have to say that I've been impressed by CLotM the most. Very expirimental and mature compared to their other material. You gotta miss the dreads though. :upset:

13th Floor Elevators are a lesser known psychedelic band. I hadn't ever heard them before today, but I felt like taking a chance on them. Turns out it's a good album.

Lately I've really been digging early Incubus (Fungus Amongus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E.). Which is odd for me because those two albums are quite different from what I normally listen to.

Ah, good deal then. Not my style of music much, so no surprise I hadn't heard of them heh.

THe only Incubus song I've heard and liked ever is Pardon Me.

I don't care for ACLotM that much, except for about 3-4 tracks. I'm not saying it isn't good, it's just not what I listen to Incubus for.

From what I understand about Fungus Amongus is that it's a collection of their recordings from 1993-95 or so, so it isn't really an "album" in some ways. Still cool though.

The other cool thing about it is that it has a great cover. Of course me saying that while being the stereotypical hippie/stoner/classic rock fan teenager.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-26-2005 11:27 PM

It has a special place in my heart though, as it was probably the second real rock album that I ever bought. I think the first was Toxicity, which Vince bought today.(omgwtfcoinkydink) So I guess my favorite is SCIENCE, but CLotM is just very nostalgic, for me at least.

Vince- I don't really like Pardon Me that much. Make Yourself is my least favorite of the 3 I own.

lunch998 06-26-2005 11:28 PM

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is really fantastic, I wouldn't say it has any weak songs on it. All are listenable and enjoyable.

Coinkydink indeed. Toxicity is a ver good album, I like it a lot.

See, it's just that one song, I don't know many others, but it always seemed too much like fake Radiohead to me.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-26-2005 11:34 PM

Incubus!?! Oh...

What songs stand out for you on Toxicity? My favorite song off of there is Forest. It's so wierd and cool. Walk with me my little FRIIIIIEND. dum. dum DUM dum..:p

EDIT: I have another 5:30 arrival time at work tomorrow, so I ought to be off to bed.

I love ATWA and Chop Suey...definitely the stuff I heard on the radio first wins for me because back then I listened to radio still :) I don't think there's a song on it I skip though, always a good sign.

I don't work till 9 , Night though

lunch998 06-26-2005 11:40 PM

Vince, if by any chance you're interested in checking out some early Incubus I could upload/send some.

If I were on my laptop I would definitely accept, but unfortunately downloeading on this computer is like asking for it to crash, so I have to decline...once I'm back at school I might look into older stuff though. They get so much praise but I've never seen why :-\

Aerials is the best on the CD IMO

I like Aerials a lot too, but I like the hard parts in ATWA better than the ones in Aerials. That whole album has great dynamics throughout.

System is a great band. Mezmerize made me realize how much talent that have O_O;

I'm watching my Neurotically Yours DVDs right now...lol...squirrels, a goth chick, some tech support guy from India, a stalker, and a load of random things...lol

I think Mexmerize was like $10 at the store, but I didn't pick it up. Neither single off it appealed to me like the older stuff...maybe I'm being too critical.

It sounds like the same thing to me as the older stuff.

Well, more or less the same. I think it was more lyrically aware of today's situation in the U.S. society than anything they've ever done. There's the occassional joke songs here and there, but a majority of it sounds like the system I know.

Not as wild and crazy, but just as heavy and hard rockin'.

Their older stuff is grand though. Toxicity was great, and Steal This Album wasn't bad at all.

Their self-titled had good songs on it too. I think everything they've done has been well worth listening to.

/question

Is Deltron 3030 the same guy who rapped on the first Gorillaz album by any chance? He sounds very similar...

This album is very freakin' good, any recommendations to artists like this as well?

Illmatic 06-27-2005 12:12 AM

The guy on the first Gorillaz album was Del tha Funkee Homosapien, I think.

EDIT: He's in Delton 3030, so...yeah

BoboTheRagingHobo 06-27-2005 12:14 AM

Well when I do Google searches on Deltron 3030 it comes up with that guy Del Tha Funkee Homosapien as well.

So I assume they are the same person.

Permanent Solution 06-27-2005 12:14 AM

I do like Deltron 3030 from what I've heard. I should get more of it, I only have 2 songs :-/

/beat
Of course they're the same. I don't even know much about rap, but that guy is unmistakable. His voice and delivery are so unique that he's just another reason why mainstream rap pales in comparison to the other stuff.

PS: if you don't like Mesmerize because of the singles, then don't worry. "Question!" is possibly the best song SOAD has ever done and it's not a single as far as I know. Check THAT song out before making a judgement on the new album.

NP: Fall of Troy- FCPSITSGEPGEPGEP ... bunch of letters. It's really bizarre, sort of like The Mars Volta but more white/angrier. Still lots of guitar zaniness and a cool bassline too.

NP: Alice in Chains- Rotten Apple

Jar of Flies was a great album.

Illmatic 06-27-2005 12:45 AM

My face is completely clean-shaven...even the 'burns are gone.

Yeah, I'm whipped :upset:

BoboTheRagingHobo 06-27-2005 12:50 AM

I haven't shaved in like 2 months...

I am trying to grow a full on beard or something for shits and giggles.

And I am really liking this Deltron 3030 album, so I demand more suggestions for good rap like this.

I was going to lose my sanity.

Bobo: Have you checked out The Roots?

Steerpike 06-27-2005 12:56 AM

The 'stache and the goatee would merge into one if the hair past the corners of my mouth would just fill out. The soul patch area is coming in slow, too.

Shred Danson 06-27-2005 12:58 AM

Dude, 'Pike, that's almost exactly what I'm growing out  Only imagine a skinny guy with longer brown hair.

Hah, Ray, you're whipped. Poor you.
