i only got PoM a few days ago... it'll grow on me, i'm sure
when i bought that album i used to really dislike it...but in time it has become one of my favourites. So many WONDERFUL timeless Maiden tracks "sun and steel" "die with your boots on" "revelations" "still life" etc...its just phenominal...i know some songs on there have never been played live (sun and steel, quest for fire, and to tame a land very very few times but no recording of it) but the majority of the album are concert favourites...hell they did 3 in a row on the "give'em ed till im dead tour" last summer!! \m/

Exelent Album, could have good of another remaster in my opinion though, but hey, who cares about the sound of the album? Exellent songs! :D

Thunder Fingers 08-08-2004 01:22 PM

can someone explain to me what happens on "live at donnigton"? Bruce says somthing like "Yes, Rockfans, but who are they afterall" and "yes, thank you, Go away!" in the middle of "heaven Can wait" i got to get the video from that! :p

GurS 08-08-2004 02:21 PM

er... no explanation

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-08-2004 03:15 PM

Steve's bass lines on there are phenoinal but that has his worst tone of all the albums, he has it at a much lower register as opposed to his usual high treble metallic clang that we all know and love, id like to hear it redone like that...but i dont let it get to me :)

YDload 08-08-2004 03:54 PM

I think the tone on Piece of Mind really works, especially when it emphasizes the octaves in "Flight of Icarus."

GurS 08-09-2004 02:40 AM

notice that PoM is the only maiden album without a titletrack

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-09-2004 03:16 AM

^^^^

The X Factor and Virtual XI as well

Thunder Fingers 08-09-2004 10:02 AM

i guess "still life" can kinda work as an title track... the "We'll Give you peace of mind"

hendrix's_offspring 08-09-2004 10:06 AM

The Mercenary 08-09-2004 01:16 PM

are there any plans for maiden to release a live 'rock in rio' style album sometime with the DoD stuff on, i havnet managed to see them live this year.....

GurS 08-09-2004 02:42 PM

I don't think so :(

No More Lies EP video is most likely the closest you'll get, except bootlegs

Thunder Fingers 08-09-2004 02:45 PM
are there any plans for maiden to release a live 'rock in rio' style album sometime with the DoD stuff on, i havnet managed to see them live this year.....
bootlegs... if they where to release an new tour album every tour they would be considered "Metallicaish" (in the lack of an better word...)

gurs: regarding the post in steve harris/cliff burton thread, Have i ever said that i love you? :p

GurS 08-09-2004 02:51 PM

:D

cheers

new topic: bruce with long hair vs. bruce with short hair

peruviantrooper 08-09-2004 05:28 PM

Bruce with long hair is so cooler... Hmm well some people say you lose soem of your ability when you cut your hair.. But Bruce is still excellent!

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-09-2004 07:14 PM

^^^

i have the longest of long hair and it dosen't make you any more talented than if your hair is as short as a buisness man. He had long hair for 20 years, and i know how **** annoying it is in every aspect of life and all the work you have to do to keep up with it...i dont blame him for cutting it.

Thunder Fingers 08-10-2004 05:15 AM

the hair dresser who cut him was named errol..... :p

ironmaidenismyhero 08-10-2004 07:38 AM

i would definitely have to say i liked bruce dickinson with longer hair.... it added to the effect of the style.... don't ask me how, but it just did

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-10-2004 01:51 PM

unneeded Maiden facts lol, i love it!!!

since were on hair, what was the worst Maiden hairstyle? my vote goes to H when he came back on stage at Donnington 92' with his half-asses mullet lol. He's my favourite Maiden member but really Adrian, come on now lol. Then Again, Bruce
s looked preety bad in the "holy smoke" video, and Murray's was trashy in the Seventh Son booklet :thumb:

Chains of Misery 08-10-2004 02:42 PM

i personaly like all of their albums but my favorite is powerslave cause of the song flash of the blade which has the best ****ing solo i have ever heard.

HondoII 08-10-2004 02:43 PM

Just got my RiR 85' dvd in today. Oh how I love it. They didn't cut out Murray's solo after powerslave. So awesome to see him playing it.

Chains of Misery 08-10-2004 02:59 PM

i also like their songs dance of death, # of the beast, rain maker, murders in the rue morgue, prowler, sanctuary, a real live one, a real dead one, and a real live dead one, killers, children of the ****ed, chains of misery, can i play with madness, run to the hills, hallowed be thy name, revalations, 2 mins to midnight, 2 am, the evil that men do, only the good die young, massacre, no prayer for the dieing, bring your daughter to the slaughter, afraid to shoot strangers, prowlers, 7th son of a 7th son, the mercenary,

no no, when Adrian came on stage during "running free" with the band and played, it was just for that one song :)

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-11-2004 01:41 AM

Hey, i got a question for you all. I want to order a book on Iron Maiden, preferably a biography, and i was wanting to know if you knew anyones that were worth ordering. thanks as usual. -Frail

i would expect "Run to the hills" is the best one... its the orifinal Biography, and it have just been "remastered" :p

Thunder Fingers 08-11-2004 04:42 AM

ah, anybody know where to get the 666/664 t-shirt?`i got that get that or the soccer outfit to steve, cause, if i dont find any of thoose, i have run around at stage with leather pants and thight tank tops, and i dont want that, and the ones watching dont want that :p

E.vil_N.ever_D.ies1344 08-11-2004 06:54 AM

have you tried the edstore on their official website?

E.vil_N.ever_D.ies1344 08-11-2004 06:58 AM

The run to the hills biography isn't that good actually. the auther pretty much says powerslave is the last good album and doesn't go into the depth they should. I still haven't found a great book dedicated souly to Maiden but if you check in books Dedicated to heavy metal in general sometimes they have good info but that's not too in depth either. I guess run to the hills is your best bet but I didn't think it was all that great.

Thunder Fingers 08-11-2004 07:19 AM
have you tried the edstore on their official website?
they dont have it...

frail: if you become an member of iron maiden FC i think they send you an Biography in the welcome package....

Barrabus 08-11-2004 07:34 AM

Did anyone hear the cover Iced Earth did for Maiden's Transylvania?

Barrabus 08-11-2004 07:39 AM

The only Maiden songs I had the privelage of hearing are:
Aces High
Number of the beast
The trooper
Transylvania

E.vil_N.ever_D.ies1344 08-11-2004 07:52 AM

I used to know a good online store full of great metal shirts/clothing. If I manage to find the link I'll send it to you. And I never heard the Iced Earth cover of Translyvania but I did hear thier versions of Hallowed be Thy Name and Number Of The Beast. Good covers.

Holyed 08-11-2004 08:58 AM

You heard Slayers covers of The Trooper and Aces High (Kazaa says there by COB, but they arn't.)

Thunder Fingers 08-11-2004 03:00 PM

:upset: Why is it so hard to get an guitarist(or two) for an Maiden Tribute Band? Me and the drummer realy want to get it started, and the other guitarist probaly want to, but we cant Get Hold of another One! :upset: Why? WHY ME?! :cries:

Armor O'Malley 08-11-2004 03:10 PM
You heard Slayers covers of The Trooper and Aces High (Kazaa says there by COB, but they arn't.)
I don't think Slayer have covered any Maiden (at least to my knowledge), although I do know Sentenced covered The Trooper, and both Arch Enemy and COB covered Aces High.
