im curious as to why them playing dyers eve is such a big thing?

Burdcheese 03-06-2004 10:04 AM

Well Its supposedly ridiculously hard*, and they don't do it very often.

*According to a drum tab i read it has a 14 tom roll

KirkIsKing 03-06-2004 10:18 AM

LIVE METALLICA DOWNLOADS

I'd reccomend that any Metallica fan go to www.livemetallica.com, it's completely authorized by Lars.

Your standard drum kit has 3 toms.
An average metal kit has 6

14 is a lot

Lars in Dyers Eve

SlaveToTheGrind 03-07-2004 05:49 AM

haha no. lars isn't good enough to play with 14 toms.

KirkIsKing 03-07-2004 09:59 AM

ok thanks for clearing that up... i also think lars isnt good enuff to play 14 toms. maybe Bonham...

Joeeddstealschickens 03-07-2004 11:24 AM
*Hopes they'll play Reading*
me too
Who can play Battery? I'm gonna learn it soon so I wanna know some stuff about it like how hard it is or something.
me
I can play alot of the rhythm guitar parts for metallica. just not the faster solos. i can get the slower ones pretty good though. like the first 2 in one and first solo on fade to black.
Thats about how good i am,I've been playing for about 2 yrs.

KirkIsKing 03-07-2004 11:36 AM

really? ive been playing for about 6 months. i think i should have started playing something a little easier...

SlaveToTheGrind 03-07-2004 11:42 AM
ok thanks for clearing that up... i also think lars isnt good enuff to play 14 toms. maybe Bonham...
yeah or dave lombardo

Joeeddstealschickens 03-07-2004 12:41 PM

I started on Blink covers in my band,so i've really only got better as the band got better (we were all f**king useless whan we started).I've been mainly concetrated on my songwriting, which is pretty **** good, even if I do say so myself! But if you want to start out on Metallica songs then good luck to you,it could well push your ability to develop quicker than the fretboard majesty of Tom DeLonge did for me!

jono1 03-07-2004 12:48 PM

metallica rules

SlaveToTheGrind 03-07-2004 12:50 PM

no. metallica ruled

superpeer 03-07-2004 02:55 PM

The earlier albums still exist , so Metallica still rules.

Joeeddstealschickens 03-07-2004 03:06 PM

metallica ruled, then they released Load, now they rule again

blacklock 03-07-2004 03:44 PM

i like 'one'. yep.

manuscriptreplica 03-08-2004 03:49 AM

Does anyone know, when Metallica play Blackened, do they actually play the intro? I read somewhere how Kirk said it was hard to recreate the solo in Blackened.

superpeer 03-08-2004 10:07 AM

Yeah they play it.

SlaveToTheGrind 03-08-2004 10:25 AM

metallica will rule again when they release another great trash album

Squirrel 03-08-2004 10:47 AM
Does anyone know, when Metallica play Blackened, do they actually play the intro? I read somewhere how Kirk said it was hard to recreate the solo in Blackened.
Most of the time, no, they play it over the speakers like Battery.

Burdcheese 03-08-2004 11:20 AM

Has anyone used www.livemetallica.com?

Crocto 03-08-2004 12:04 PM
Does anyone know, when Metallica play Blackened, do they actually play the intro? I read somewhere how Kirk said it was hard to recreate the solo in Blackened.
not the solo. the intro to blackened is several layered guitars all playing a riff backwards. so i don't even know if you could play that live.

also on battery james uses a nylon acoustic. can't really fill the medowlands with a nylon acoustic.

davey 03-08-2004 01:07 PM

If they play that set list in Peoria, it will oficially be the second best concert I have ever been to. (The first is a tie between Anthrax in Chicago, or Megadeth in Chicago)
