YOU PEOPLE LEAVE RINGO ALONE!

Octopus' Garden is a good song :upset:
Ringo had a big nose, AND YOU KNOW IT!

standard 03-29-2006 02:03 PM
True, but a monster like Flo Mournier wouldn't have suited Pink Floyd, I think.
Oh no doubt. I don't even think Neil Peart or John Bonham would have worked, he had a unique style, it just.. Worked.

Riva 03-29-2006 06:07 PM

I still have to buy the CD version of Ummagumma. The tape doesn't have the live section. You crazy kids and your newfangledthingamujigs.

No silly. Clare Torrey.

I love her voice. Her solo in Great Gig In The Sky and Gimme Shelter are breath taking. It is very hard to win me over with just a voice but she certainly does it.

999, fag! :angray:

Riva, don't even try. I'm the #1 Python fan, and you know it :hXc:

Animals is the coolest album ever. I'd love to play an extended jam version of Dogs if I ever get the chance

EDIT: I just noticed you actually changed your name to Riva. I'm slow at stuff like this.

I'd give an arm and a leg to have been alive back when they were touring for Animals.
I'd give an arm and a leg and my immortal soul and first-born son to have been alive back when they were touring at all.
Fix'd

I'm making yet another CR mix, probably gonna be putting a lot of PF on it. Wish me luck, these things take a combination of blood, sweat, tears, and luck to make good :p

musicforlife 03-31-2006 10:59 PM

Pink Foyd proves that being "different" is good.

Ephemeral 03-31-2006 11:40 PM

If Pink Floyd was a type of car, it would be the best car.

Haha. Done.. but it wasn't the best kind of car. It was a Golf I believe.

Riva 04-02-2006 03:30 AM

I'd give a lot of money to be at any Pink Floyd tour. I'd probably want to hang on to my limbs though, simply so I could hug all the members in a strictly heterosexual way.

Danger Bird 04-02-2006 12:56 PM

I'll prolly pick up either Relics or Obscured by Clouds next weekend.

Riva 04-02-2006 04:35 PM

Obscured By Clouds first.

Ephemeral 04-02-2006 05:21 PM

Pink Floyd experience is doing a show in my city. I have seen them before, pretty good. I probably won't go though.

MidnightRider 04-02-2006 05:27 PM
Obscured By Clouds first.
Definitely, great album. I've been listening to it a bunch lately.

fwqhgads, I wish they would come around where I live.

robo2448 04-02-2006 07:00 PM

"The Machine" is coming to NY soon. Good show?

I'll probably check it out.

standard 04-02-2006 08:56 PM

Australian Pink Floyd for the win.

Do it! I saw them a little while back and they were really good. They didn't do songs you would expect, whitch was really cool. I think the only thing that would impress me more than them thats close to the real Pink Floyd is when I see David Gilmour on Teusday.

Are you seeing him at MSG? I tried to get tickets but they sold out right away. You're lucky you got tickets. Have fun at the show. You better tell us about it too.

I'll get tickets for the Machine then. I think they were $10 or something.

I think hes playing at Radio City Music Hall. I can't wait, its going to be such a great show!

1-10 what would you guys give for Gilmour's new solo album? I'm interested in buying it but I don't want to set my hopes high and then be disappointed with it.

7. It's pretty good. Some weak tracks, but Gilmour's guitar playing really shines.

I would go as high as 8 for that album. Its defenetly worth the money. I don't want to make any false predictions, but I doubt that you'll see anything put out any better from any of the members of Pink Floyd after this.

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-02-2006 09:25 PM

Alright, thanks mangs.

Riva 04-02-2006 10:46 PM

I'd go for 7 for the new Gilmour album.

In relation to the Pink Floyd tribute acts, from the ones I've seen, I'd rank them thus:

Aussie Pink Floyd
Beyond The Darkside
The Pink Floyd Experience

I haven't seen The Machine.

I don't know, I really like old Barrett stuff.

I don't have Relics yet, but OBC is an absolute essential.

Jim 04-03-2006 05:16 AM

Yay. Got The Final Cut. Can't be arsed explaining how I've found it so far again. If anyone's interested, jump over to the last comment on the review at sputnik.

A bit late too, but I'd give Dave's new effort a solid 7.5. 7's too little but 8's a bit rich for me. I love Take a Breath and This Heaven is pretty good, too. And the booklet's el coolio!

I've lent it off my cousin and thus far have not yet listened to it.

Ephemeral 04-03-2006 10:55 AM

The new Gilmour album is very good.
I'd give it like 8/10.

Jetpack 04-03-2006 12:35 PM

I've fallen in love with the album "wish you were here"

the songs are all amazing and I get the biggest feeling of isolation when I put on this album and let it take me away.

what other albums by pink floyd do this to you? this is the first album that has gotten me so intrigued by them

standard 04-03-2006 12:51 PM
The new Gilmour album is very good.

123. It's not very Floydish though. If you like any slow songs that Gilmour wrote you'll like the album.

MidnightRider 04-03-2006 12:58 PM

I'd give it about a 7/10. Good album overall.

Jetpack, the only Floyd albums that give me a feeling of isolation would be WYWH and The Wall.

pigonthewing82 04-03-2006 07:49 PM
the songs are all amazing and I get the biggest feeling of isolation when I put on this album and let it take me away.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. For a long time Pink Floyd was my favorite band because the bands playing just took me away. It was just me, the songs, and my thoughts. It was almost like I was in my own little world. The notes and words seem to etch themselves into my life and in some ways just the notes to their songs tell their own story, my story. The emotion they put into their music became my emotion, and it just all seemed to make more sense when it had a beat, rhyme, organization. This is the world Pink Floyds songs took me to. Though for some reason Dylan does that for me more than Floyd did. Though nothing really takes me away like some Floyd songs like Echoes or Comfertably Numb.
