K. A few days ago I burned Follow The Reaper and Something Wild on CD. After giving both two listens, I can honestly say I love Children Of Bodom now. Folow The Reaper was brilliant. The riffs, keyboards, solos, melodies, they were all amazing. Something Wild on the other hand, pissed me off. THey were some parts of that CD that were just great, but thtose parts were few and far between and surrounded by annoying bullshit. It was their debut, and they got much better, so it's cool though.
Join the club! Awesome. What about Something Wild didn't you like? Follow the Reaper was amazing, and a good first album. Which song did you like the best? |
I'm not a huge CoB fan, but I'd have to say that Something Wild is probably the best they've ever done/ will ever do.
It's short, so it doesn't get boring, which can easily occur with all the Power Metal melody and it's still raw with cool drumming. |
favorite songs...

I just found that Something Wild had some really good parts, but they were only every now and then and everything else was just screaming without regard for melody or great riffs. My favorite songs were Bodom After Midnight, Mask Of Sanity, and Northern Comfort, to my recollection, but I liked them all.

Yeah, those are really good songs. I don't know, the only song I could never get into from Something Wild was In the Shadows. I have the Deluxe edition, so I have the Slayer and Scorpions covers. They are pretty good. |
^^^^The band considers In the Shadows to be the worst CoB song ever recorded.
There isn't a single bad song on Something Wild (or Follow the Reaper for that matter). It has a raw, blackened feeling but it's still very melodic. |

However, FTR had no weak link. |
Red Light In My Eyes Pt. 1 i couldn't stand
I love that song! His grunting vocals sound goofy at times but I still love it. I don't understand why the band hates In the Shadows. And no, FtR is flawless. :thumb: |
Follow the Reaper is by far my favorite CoB album.

Yea...its great on all fronts...keys, drums, guitars, melody, heaviness...everything. |

I hate his vocals in that song. Pt.2 is way better |
The first thing that comes to mind when i think of Children of Bodom is....
"YOW!!!! YOW!!!!!! YOW!!!! YOOOOWWWWW!!!!!" hahaha sorry i couldnt resist
hahaha gotta love alexi's vocals :p |
Ok here are our 3 songs. 2 of them just have random labels they aren't named yet, but any ideas for names would be great. Also, Potential and Riff 2 are instumentals and staying that way. I have like a little bit of drumming on those 2 tracks also, but I cna only do so much. Oh and as you can see, the name of the band is Ultima.
wow very interesting  put it some stuff up once you start recording |
I hate his vocals in that song. Pt.2 is way better
 Why? |
 Why?
It's gotta be the half singing/half grunting. Pt 2 I think is not nearly as good. The classical is great but it doesn't have much of a metal feel (with the exception of some sweet riffs). |

I don't know, I love them both. Oh! The main reason I love The Nail, is because of the classical piece they slammed in there. :thumb: Gotta love metal guys who dig classical masterpieces. |

Definitely. Classical in metal is amazing. I thought the Nail was unusual because it starts off very punk-sounding and then they throw classical in there. Very unlikely. |

That's why it's so awesome. |

I think the track after it was even more awesome, especially with the drunken keyboard solo with Alexi and Alexander. |

 Touch Like Angel of Death? I think that's after it. |

Correct. I think the intro riff sounds like an Eric Draven solo from The Crow (a movie). |

Oh awesome! I haven't seen the Crow (YET), so I wouldn't know. I wish I knew where all the movie clips they use come from. |

YEAH!!!! \m/ (><) \m/
i've been to that site a before, but just reading the bio and stuff..i never looked at the discography cause i thought it would be just a typical listing of the albums and the songs. anyway, i actually went to see where the movie quotes were from, and ended up getting an answer for my question, it's Mozart's Queen of the night Aria |

The start of Red Light In My Eyes II is a Mozart lick. Anyway, to the topic of bands, I'm a one person band. Pretty unique stuff. Instruments I have on my tracks are usually quite a high number. Strings, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Symphony Percussion, Harps, Piano, and much more. Right now though i'm working on my black metal project. |

I wouldn't suggest it, haha. I don't have anything completely recorded/on here yet. I'll post some of my Black Metal tracks sometime when I record them though. They aren't hard to do other than the vocals. |
yeah i suppose so, but it'll be something until i can get into a band. i'm sure i'll find some people when i'm on campus this fall. |
Ah, I see. Well, good luck man. :thumb:
