Can someone recommend a "starter" grind/crust band or two?

And what album to check out of course.

clustifux 12-30-2005 02:03 AM
get used to it, alot of grind bands dont have human drummers.
Awww..uber lame. Thats what made it cool to me, to be able to play at break-neck speed. But oh well, its still good music

Aus-Rotten or Amebix would be a good "starter" for crust. Mostly cause those were the two crust bands i started listining to. And as of grind i donno...Dystopia got me into grind, but i dont think they are grind.

Liebensaft 12-30-2005 02:16 AM

Alright. I have some Aus-Rotten stuff, and I'll look into Amebix.

I didn't say all bands, but alot do use drum machines. Some bands have actual drummers who play at break-neck speeds and make ye shit yerself with the power from their double bass.

clustifux 12-30-2005 02:49 AM

well i had an idea that not all did. But just hearing agoraphobic nosebleeds double bass blew me away. I thought it was a real person haha. If only it was. Im'a work on my blast-beats to get that fast. First i need to invest in a double bass pedel... I get paid tomarrow. I may purchess one. haha.

whiteminority 12-30-2005 05:49 AM
oh that explains it.....thats lame...
well no person can get to the 100,000 bpm that the machine got to on one of their songs.

Well, I have to repay you for those albums I got from you over AIM. Sooo, hit me up.

Liebensaft 12-30-2005 10:30 AM
100,000 bpm
Arrakakaka 12-30-2005 10:33 AM

Does anybody have that 5643 Song Ep from Anal Cu/\/t?

Gnarmageddon 12-30-2005 11:01 AM

I think I will be making a grind podcast soon. I'll make sure to let you guys check it out.

cbmartinez 12-30-2005 01:43 PM

I don't believe that thing about 100,000 bpm.

clustifux 12-30-2005 01:50 PM

NewKindofArmy03 12-30-2005 02:12 PM
Anyone heard Rotten sound? My friends band is supportin em apparently, i just checked em out and its pretty good grind stuff, sounds a lot like Nasum.
Yeah, they're awesome. I only have a couple songs though, I need to get an album.

Liebensaft 12-30-2005 02:16 PM
whats a podcast?
Imagine a radio show, minus the radio, made specifically for iPods.

clustifux 12-30-2005 03:33 PM

oh wicked. I have an ipod. so i may look into this

Gnarmageddon 12-30-2005 04:11 PM

It's not just for iPods. You can listen to it with your regular media player.

And I'll try to work on it soon.
Out of sheer frustration over the lack of drummers in the local Massachusetts area, Scott Hull and friends formed AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED (ANb) with the help of a drum machine in 1994. Many artists, such as GODFLESH and MINISTRY had utilized drum machines effectively in the slower-paced industrial realm, but relatively few bands have ever attempted the 100,000 bpm "hailstorm of drums" approach to programming that head honcho Scott Hull not only attempted, but achieved!
They havn't used it per se in a song but in special recordings and live performances.

Subvert_bassist 12-30-2005 08:55 PM

I got HeavyHeavyLowLow - Kids Kids Kids EP today. Sooooooooo good.

RetiredAt21 12-30-2005 09:36 PM

I love HeavyHeavyLowLow. They are great.

Forest_Fire 12-30-2005 09:44 PM

They're good, but a little repetative.

...I tried. :upset:

AIRIC 12-30-2005 09:49 PM

I got awesome new speakers that I'm going to grind the hell out of later.

Subvert_bassist 12-30-2005 10:17 PM

It's not crust or grind, but I know you're all open minded and stuff. This is my vocalist's solo acoustic project. Opinions?

I used the wrong word by saying "specifically". I meant geared-towards.

Be careful doing that, I lost a friend when he was listening to grind through his new speakers.

Sounds good, I'm usually not a fan of acoustic stuff, but it's still good.

It's a very generic sound, but you can't get much more if you are just acoustic like that, but it's still pretty good. I enjoyed it at least.

gimp fest 12-31-2005 08:19 AM
I love HeavyHeavyLowLow. They are great.
they are great, but i can't get hold of any other songs apart from their myspace, can anyone hook me up on soulseek?

Subvert_bassist 12-31-2005 10:25 AM

I put the "Kids Kids Kids EP" in there. Hit me up on slsk; s/n: Snaker

I dled it, and the songs rule. I need to check out Crippled Bastards and HeavyHeavyLowLow..

RetiredAt21 01-01-2006 07:30 PM

Cripple Bastards are amazing.

Brain Toad 01-01-2006 07:40 PM

I got into Cripple Bastards a long time ago when I first tried to get into grind and all I liked were them, Agroaphobic Nosebleed, and Anal Cunt. Cripple Bastards were always at the top, so awesome.

RetiredAt21 01-01-2006 07:43 PM
I got into Cripple Bastards a long time ago when I first tried to get into grind and all I liked were them, Agroaphobic Nosebleed, and Anal squirrel. Cripple Bastards were always at the top, so awesome.
I tried to get my friend to listen to Cripple Bastards when I was trying to get him into grind, but he said they were "too harsh." WUSSY.

Subvert_bassist 01-02-2006 12:08 PM

Cripple Bastards are ****ing great.

Capitalist Casualties cancelled on us the day before the show lame. It was still a great show. I love out of town shows because they end up being insane. You always end up at some random person you don't know's house partying. Even though I don't drink or do drugs, it's a lot of fun. We ended up in the middle of Ione. There's NOTHING THERE. It rocked.

Gnarmageddon 01-02-2006 12:15 PM

Swallowing S'hit was the band that got me into grind. I can remember listening to Cripple Bastards shortly afterwards.

NewKindofArmy03 01-02-2006 12:28 PM

Phobia got added to the Disfear/9 Shocks Terror/Rumpelstiltskin Grinder show here, I can't wait for that.

RetiredAt21 01-02-2006 02:56 PM

The first grind band I ever listened to was Anal C'unt, but then I get into better grind shortly thereafter.

clustifux 01-02-2006 06:37 PM

what would the locust fall under? id consider them grind, but with all the keyboards and electronic i have no idea.
