the stuff on our soundcloud was recorded prior to me joining the band, but we're aiming to get four new tracks recorded and online by the end of the year, with the fourth album out sometime next year.
just created a soundcloud page for the death metal band I recently joined

http://soundcloud.com/cachexic
K, giving this a proper listen now.

I really like Devil Reborn. Especially the part at 1:22. It's a nice break from the chugging. It flows nicely from riff to riff. The other tracks didn't really do much for me, though. :\
the greatest irony is you guys complain about my music not having good production then say this is stuff is good.

Brew's band has flat tone and the snare sounds like ass. The vocalist is better than me though.
I just don't really like the random transitions often found in the type of dm of the gnawing mandibles album and the guitar tone just kinda kills it. Also, the drums need some EQ-ing to settle in the mix better. I think some EQ-ing would make the whole thing sound that much better.

Also, pointing out that some other band makes music that isn't mindblowingly innovative doesn't make your music any better. No, OSDM generally isn't very innovative, but if it well executed and has the right feel, it's good DM.

I don't know how anyone could possibly try their hand at an art they see no value in being an audience for

Morumbar 09-17-2011 08:51 AM

I disagree, tbh. In fact, I think the pursuit of creating art is most pure when it's done for its own sake, and not with pleasing an audience in mind.
I disagree, tbh. In fact, I think the pursuit of creating art is most pure when it's done for its own sake, and not with pleasing an audience in mind.
Well that's not quite what I was arguing against.

If Brent claims immersing yourself in a world is for retards and mocks people for enjoying fictional creations, i'm not sure why he would see any value in using his limited creative output to regurgitate his own.

I feel you must be encultured to a degree in an artistic pursuit to have at least a vague conception of how you personally receive and interpret the work of others, if you are going to make any attempt at carving out your own niche even if it is ultimately a self-satisfying endeavor. Otherwise, you consider the medium completely worthless apart from your own dreadful output and demonstrate zero respect for yourself by not understanding how to competently use the tools you have to make something that has a level of sophistication to it. Otherwise, it smacks of putting no effort in or having an inability to do better.

In this case, Brent is presenting a fictional story. It's full of plot holes, it's full of big words that make no sense in their placement, it's full of misleading, ambiguous descriptions. I tried to weed out a simple timeline from the text, but he claimed it was all wrong, wrong, wrong, we were all stupid, stupid, stupid. What this tells me is that he has a strong concept and fleshed out progression of events in his mind, but the words he has written do not adequately describe what he is trying to get across. He argues this is due to poor reading comprehension on our part, but fact is he has no understanding of how on the most base level possible the audience receives a story and the respect you must pay to language and how we use it to set the scene, convey meaning, and avoid distorted communication.

If you don't have an understanding of where you are coming from, you don't know where you are going. Brent shuns fiction, writes it, and is genuinely shocked when nobody has a clue wtf he is talking about.

Morumbar 09-17-2011 09:43 AM

Ah, okay. I misunderstood what you were saying then. Yeah, I agree with that.

Haz 09-17-2011 09:53 AM

see, if I had written what I was trying to get across adequately in the first place I would never have needed to write all that to clarify my original meaning

Brent, pay attention

GottaPost 09-17-2011 09:55 AM

that was a pretty terribly written post tho

GottaPost 09-17-2011 10:00 AM

Luke loves it too. The very fact that we know it's not a serious post, but just something we did for fun. We don't give a shit if anyone likes it but enjoy the negative press.

Haz 09-17-2011 10:01 AM

Like really, do you actually think a post with all improvised messages written on a desktop computer by a complete idiot is serious?

So to answer every faggot who's asked: No, it's not serious. I wrote a post with my friend because it was entertaining and we liked it.

GottaPost 09-17-2011 10:02 AM
