Some fool just tried to tell me that The Locust isn't grind. lol @ him.

Concubine 07-04-2007 08:22 AM

i like how you think you know everything about grindcore

LifeInABox 07-04-2007 08:26 AM

Do You?

Hey Retired, can you (or anyone) send me some Magrudergrind? I would appreciate it, seeing as how they pwn.

antihippy 07-04-2007 08:32 AM

i always thought the locust was noise rock/punk.

Concubine 07-04-2007 08:35 AM

no i don't. And i never said anything that implied that i do.

i just see The Locust as a punk and noise hybrid. It's debatable though. I just dont consider all the newer "grind" bands to be grind (Daughters, The Locust)

EDIT : to Hbp

LifeInABox 07-04-2007 08:35 AM

I really think their Grind, but that's just my opinion.

LifeInABox 07-04-2007 08:36 AM

They aren't that new, like 1994.

antihippy 07-04-2007 08:42 AM

they don't sound like any of the other grind bands.

LifeInABox 07-04-2007 08:45 AM

Than they're original.

antihippy 07-04-2007 08:47 AM

as in that there's no real grind influences. more noise rock if anything.

LifeInABox 07-04-2007 08:48 AM

How do you figure? All the elements of Grind are there. Speed, blasts, high pitched screaming vocals, complex guitar riffs, so on and so forth.

Moon Flavor 07-04-2007 08:51 AM

I'd say The Locust fits in pretty well with Sawtooth Grin and that whole style...but I'm not a grind person, so I really don't know what that's considered.

Daughters on the other hand...they're just kind of a noisier version of a lot of noise/punk bands, especially since Hell Songs.

antihippy 07-04-2007 08:52 AM

speed is more influenced from hardcore punk.

their drummer don't really use blast beats.

grind bands usually growl ala death metal.

complex riffs could just mean that they are very good guitarists.

High pitched screaming and complex guitar originally weren't that big a thing in grind...

antihippy 07-04-2007 08:54 AM

plus the locust squeals more than they scream.

RetiredAt21 07-04-2007 09:43 AM

Holy fuck, The Locust is not grind. Never was.

Txus 07-04-2007 09:57 AM
