Saw a few movies on the weekend.

The Departed: Really awesome. Probably the best new film I've seen in at least a year.

Saw 3: Not bad. Not that great either.

The Squid and the Whale: Written and directed by Noah Baumbach. It was really interesting, funny and disturbing at the same time. Great script, great cast. Excellent performance by Jeff Daniels and the two kids especially.

The Squid and the Whale is an amazing movie; definitely in my top 20 favorites.

I watched Brick the other day, which was pretty good for being a detective-esque movie. And the lead actor was hawt.

br3ad_man 11-13-2006 12:04 AM

I want to see The Squid and the Whale really bad. The Departed was awesome. Speaking of Scorsese films, I'm off to watch Taxi Driver.

StaticSynth 11-13-2006 12:24 AM

Still need to see The Departed and The Prestige in theaters.

Borat was pretty funny overall. I was a bit disappointed at the amount of slapstick humor there was though. The character Borat is funniest when he's using his naivete to unearth the biases and hypocrisy in the people he interacts with.

Little Man being Erased 11-13-2006 12:25 AM

I can't wait to see the Borat.

It's not out down under yet.

Yeah, you need to see this. I remember suggesting it when I first saw it in theatres. And, coincidentally, I just watched Kicking and Screaming, Noah Baumbach's first movie. It had some brilliant moments - comedic elements, surprisingly matured drama - it's well worth the time.

I actually just watched the same movie.

It was a meh at best.

asymm 11-13-2006 10:02 AM

It was definitely above a 'meh'. At the very least, it showed a real potential for the future.

Kyle 11-13-2006 10:42 AM

Muse were pretty great last night as expected. Although why they insist on closing with Take A Bow is beyond me, such an anti-climax.

It's on bit torrent if you want it.

Little Man being Erased 11-13-2006 03:37 PM

No chance. I have modem. I cave man.

I'm happy to wait for the cinema anyway.
I can't wait to see the Borat.

It's not out down under yet.
As a fan of the show, that movie came off as a big letdown. It was funny, just not as funny. There's way more Jackass humor and way less intellect, sort of what you would expect when turning a British show into an American movie.

Little Man being Erased 11-13-2006 03:59 PM

Oh well, at least I won't be as disappointed now.

Glitterati 11-14-2006 04:53 PM

I'm at school and I have Smack That by Akon stuck in my head and I'm about a minute away from killing a bitch. Goddamn that song's annoying.

Eliminator 11-14-2006 05:30 PM

everything eminem has done since 2000 or 2001 makes me want to puke

i like 8 mile though that's a pretty decent movie

Robert Crumb 11-14-2006 05:41 PM

lol rabbit

Eliminator 11-14-2006 05:42 PM

np: Joanna Newsom

Eliminator 11-14-2006 05:43 PM

they haven't played it in a long time

np: same thing as you

i could listen to her everyday
which i hae

AlienEater 11-14-2006 05:45 PM

I was pleasantly surprised.

The Jungler 11-14-2006 05:46 PM

I've only heard one track off the new CD, it wasn't bad but I think I'll prefer the first one. I think I've listened to the entire CD spread over blogs, youtube videos and multiple myspace accounts.

Eliminator 11-14-2006 05:46 PM

now to age 9 years and marry her

looks like i'm going to have to get in touch with michael j fox again

Kayetan 11-14-2006 05:48 PM

Good luck with your marriage. I hope it all works out well. Should I feel bad about having missed her in concert last Friday?

Robert Crumb 11-14-2006 05:50 PM

I didn't really like her first album. What are the chances that I'll like this one?

Eliminator 11-14-2006 05:51 PM

her voice is a bit more tame and the songs are a bit mor "sophisticated" sounding

and jim o'rourke nad albini worked on it
