Call me a noob, call me slow, call me what ya like but here it is
as much as i love metallica, i only just downloaded Orion, as i thought previously that To Live Is To Die was their only instrumental song....but orion is that plus more. IMO it has excellent guitar playing, drumming in time, and the bass is pretty sweet around the 4-5minute mark. Anyone else think this song is a splendid instrumental?
don't worry, i thought To Live Is To Die was thier only instrumental till I got Master of Puppets. You find things out when you buy the albums though. So try that sir, not to diss ya or anything. Happy listening.  What do you think is the most god-awfully dark and depressing Metallica song. Personally, I find it to be Fade to Black or One, because if you read the lyrics, it sounds like James is really contimplating suicide. Or he was just really sad and that's how he felt, either way, I want your opinions. |
I also found Fade to Black and One to be really depressing. They still kick *** though.

i hope they do an instermental on there next album......

I don't know... I'd rather have it they made an instrumental. |

Thanks dude! :chug: |

i would like that as well |
I saw Metallica live for Aucklands Big Day Out a few days ago and they did a great show. They played all their classics (Master of Puppets, Battery, One, Nothing Else Matters etc) and only two songs off St Anger. It was an impresive show and highly raised my opinion of Metallica :thumb:
|
Yeah, I saw it too hybridofsound. It ROCKED!
Even the 3 St Anger songs were done really well- Frantic and Dirty Window now have solos! This was the setlist-- Blackened Creeping Death ( Kick *** solo at end by Kirk) Harvester Of Sorrow Sanitarium Bass Solo For Whom The Bell Tolls Frantic Sad But True Dirty Window Seek and Destroy Fade To Black Battery St Anger Nothing Else Matters Master Of Puppets One Enter Sandman Awesome bloody show. |
Recently i was talking to one of my friends and he told me that James writes mostly everything like In Master of Puppets He wrote most of the solos i always thought Hammet Wrote the solos?
|
nah man im pretty sure kirk did the solos, i got the book "the art of kirk hammett" and it has lots of interviews with him about alumbs like MOP and he was talkin about all the different techniques he used on different albums with the solos, plus i have the MOP Sheet Music and on the song it says Written by james hetfield....ulrich....burton AND kirk hammett
ive found on alot of their songs it just says James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich |
Metallica rules. and what would be the easiest song to play by them on the drums
|
theres a guitar that i would really want to have a look at buying (after playin it 1st of corse) im not sure if its for sale or anything, but who knows of the guitar james uses it when they play nothing elses matters live, (not the accustic he used on s&m) this is a electric, its the shape of an explorer, and the colour is a really nice wood finish kinda colour (im guessin this guitars an esp as they all are) does anyone know the name of the guitar??

Songs from St Anger played live is one of the coolest experiances I've ever had.
RHCP dude, you're such a twat  |
having seen metallica only 5 hours ago rhcp's post is just so funny. RHCP are flat as a fu cking tack live. They're flatty flat flat, they're flat and thats that. Having seen all their dvds i can truthfully say they do not compare to metallica, they arent even in the same league.
Metallica was so awesome tonight. I can hardly walk, i was about 5 metres from james kirk and rob at different parts of the show. Honestly before you bag the **** out of them like all the ****ing sheep on this forum watch them live and see them play the arse out of their songs yet still sound better than studio quality. SEARCH AND....SEEK AND DESTROY. God im so pumped up right now. |
The Unnamed Feeling EP with live tracks..............bit toooooo good.

That's just what I think though. We may never know. |
ffs for the last time KIRK WRITES THE SOLOS. Im watching the making of the black album right now. He writes them, sends them to lars and james and bob, who either chop it up or tell him to redo certain parts of it. It starts out kirks solo, but james and lars mould it to the song. Thats why he doesnt get writing creds.

first, i'm sure that Kirk writes it. I'm saying that James writes some too, not as many but I'm sure at least one of those is his. Second, I said that James comes up with a good rythem most likely, and then Kirk can build off that and expand into a wicked solo and then, like you said, he sends it on to the others and they work with it. Personally, I want to hear some of Kirk's stuff before they rip it up and change it and stuff. P.S. What's this I heard about Lars helping in the lyrical process too, I thought James did that alone and stuff. |

the lyrics of St Anger is not all too bad. But The Lyrical Downfall of the record is PURIFY & DIRTY WINDOW. |
^^^^^^^^^^
i don't know if you noticed, dude, but the lyrics in St. Anger were way too repetitive. Last time I checked, Metallica never did that, ever. Lets all be honest with ourselves. Metallica didn't give 100% like they always do with St. Anger. Bob Rock screwed up, Newstead screwed up (cause he left for Voivod, god dammit!) Hetfield screwed up by making it all too simple. St Anger was rushed. No doubt about it. The only good song on the record was The Unnamed Feeling, and it still has room for improvement. Case ****ing closed. :smash: |
Hey guys, Im lookin for a tab version of The Small Hours off of the Garage Inc Album
Please help me out here |
i think metallica r very cool.am gonna try go see them in june.on the second in glasgow
|
^^^^^^^^^^
Lets all be honest with ourselves. Metallica didn't give 100% :
That doesnt mean its a bad record. theres nothin special about it,but its alright. case re-opened...and closed again :smash: |
lol sacrifice loves saying case closed doesnt he.
Anyway you say metallica didnt put in 100%. Have you seen interviews with them? They put their heart and soul into that record. There was a lot of ****ed up **** going on when they made it, james off to rehab, new bassist, in-fighting and that is evident in the songs. They wanted to do something different, no matter what small minded f*cks like you thought. It wasnt up to par but f*ck, the last album they wrote was back in like 1994/5 (reload was largely written around the time of load, it was originally supposed to be a double cd release). Thats a long time out of the studio. This album was necessary, if nothing else it has resulted in metallica being stronger than ever live and as a band, rob fits in so well its not funny. Their next album well be brilliant, i guarrantee it. |
