Lunch 05-14-2006 11:29 AM

I'm sure the same thing can be said by many other people about us voting for Moon. It's just opinions.

Edit: To Dragonprince.

JohnXDoesn't 05-14-2006 11:32 AM

I'm listening to Moon right now. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. He's a superior talent in every way.

Lunch 05-14-2006 11:36 AM

You know I'm with you, and I would never think Portnoy should be ahead of Moon, but I'm just saying we only represent one side of the biased scale. Not specifically about the current poll, just about MX opinions in general.

JohnXDoesn't 05-14-2006 11:39 AM

I was just thinking how great it was that Pete sang in The Who. He and Roger don't have the same kind of voice, but they sound good together and Pete added another dimension to the music by singing lead sometimes. I think Pete is a really good singer, actually. What he lacks in range he makes up for with force and energy.

EDIT: You are a far fairer man then I, Lunch.

EDIT 2: Are you saying we are blinded by fanboyism? :(

EDIT 3: Dream Theater do blow with that progressive metal crap, though. Or whatever the hell it is? I don't even know WTF?

Lunch 05-14-2006 11:51 AM

I think Roger is the more of the one who lacks range and makes up for it with force and energy. Pete probably had better range than Daltrey.

No, we aren't blinded by fanboyism. I know we can all rag on the Who. Every real Who fan should be able to trash the Who sometimes, because it's so easy. And I'm not defending Dream Theater, at all. I don't like them, or care about them. My point was just applying to general lists and opinions.

JohnXDoesn't 05-14-2006 01:11 PM

This version of Bonie Moronie from the Maximum R&B collection is great. Band just tears it up. And hearing Roger sing "Making love underneath the apple tree" is a hoot. Pete plays his arse off, too. But what else is new....

Ephemeral 05-14-2006 01:12 PM

Roger Daltry is one of my favorite male vocalists of all time.

Lunch 05-14-2006 01:13 PM

That disc is pretty awesome because of The Seeker, Join Together, the Relay, Let's See Action, and Bonie Moronie.

Not really. I just wanted to make Lunch jump a little. :)

Lunch 05-14-2006 02:04 PM

Hah, unfortunately for you I somehow read the bottom of your post first. Pwned.

JohnXDoesn't 05-14-2006 02:08 PM

:upset:

oic. Well it's just a clever set up. So when I announce it for real you'll just shrug it off and miss out. I'm sneaky like that.

So you better stay on your toes....

Lunch 05-14-2006 02:22 PM

I'll be looking out for the dates myself, you know.

Anyone remember that thread where the bloke was asking the name of the song with the lyrics "Out here in the fields", and he got replies in equal parts of "Who Are You" and "Teenage Wasteland" and it took the combined efforts of Lunch, some classic rock regs, and myself to drive into people's heads that they were wrong.

That thread went for around 4 pages, I think. Good times.

Wow I wish I was there to read that it sounds like it would be very entertaining. I met somebody who thought Pete Townsend was a Beatle

Haha, yea. Good times.

BigTrav415 05-17-2006 09:32 PM

Dream Theater > Who lololol

I've never actually heard any Dream Theater :-/ I've heard they are rather pretentious and that only other musicians can appreciate their music at all.

Yeah, but I think John owns on the range part. Damn he had a high falsetto!

wanderer 05-18-2006 09:32 AM

Daltrey interview (podcast). Talks about various topics, including Moon movie etc.

I don't know why/how people enjoy that part, it kind of ruins Bellboy for me.

robo2448 05-18-2006 07:08 PM

Bell Boy is awesome. I love Moon in that song. That's my favorite part of it, just because it's Keith. Of course nothing can beat Barbara Ann...

John could definitely go lower than any of the others. Boris the Spider ftw.

Lunch 05-18-2006 07:11 PM

John has an incredible range, now that I think about it, haha. Boris the Spider to A Quick One.

pigonthewing82 05-18-2006 07:22 PM

Awsome, the Simpsons with The Who was on tonight

Lunch 05-18-2006 07:26 PM

No, I missed it again! Damnit.
