I can't find anything negative exept for the occasional 20 minute song that really isn't all that good.
I've mentioned it before, but Alex's tone bothers me sometimes. I.e. Tom Sawyer. Good song, lousy solo. Also, as much as I like Geddy's voice, it does get weak live. If you compare his vocals on Rush in Rio to their studio stuff, his voice is much stronger on record. |

Alex keeps getting heavier guitar sounds over the years. They didn't play subdivisions though :( |

Ever hear Robert Plant live in the late 70s? It's a mess. I think Alex has some of the coolest guitar tones ever, Tom Sawyer included. The first riff the guitar plays on that song sounds great. |

Geddy's voice just waver, and he seems to have trouble hitting a couple notes. On Tom Sawyer, Alex's tone for the riff is great. I just don't like the solo. It's not just the tone; I just think it's a poorly constructed solo. |
Hey guys great new thread title!
Hey guys great new thread title!
Thanks. /didn't do anything |
alex has excellent guitar tone, among the best i've ever heard.
|
Pre-ordered my deluxe copy of the R30 dvd.
:D |
Yes, it's not the tone. It's those sloppy, painful solos. I think all of his solos should be more like Closer To The Heart or The Sprit of the Radio. Ones that sound great and are well constructed.
|
Aright. I heard somewhere today that they were planning another tour. I thought it was on the radio but can't remember. Anybody know about this or is it just Boo-shaw?
|
I've heard that they were too. I don't doubt it, they're not exactly done yet. Their last real album was in 2003.
|
Pre-ordered my deluxe copy of the R30 dvd.
:D
That concert was filmed on my birthday last year. I've heard things about a new album and a tour following. I'd love that, there's no way I'd miss them twice. |
Behind Tool, Rush is the best band Ive ever seen live. They play the same way every time. When watching RiR, it was exactly how the played when I saw them. Dont understand the washing machines though.

The solo to Spirit of the Radio is pretty sloppy and very much wankage. |

The washing machines are Geddy's amps. Probably put in as a joke, as the band is known for being light-hearted. |
I like the Spirit of the Radio solo:upset: .....
|
don't feel bad, i like it too.

Or maybe it is sporatic. Who cares I ****in love it! |
Hey guys, me and my brother just made a cover of Subdivisions, synth and all except vocals. This may be the last song we do for a long time, cuz he is moving to N.C.
http://www.matter4u.com/media/Subd1v1s1ons.mp3 u can stream it or right click 'save as'. equipment was JPMM, PodXTLive, Mapex Orion with Paiste cymbals and the ride was the new Neil Pert Sig ride Paragon. I played the bass through the XTL, and used Cubase and Reason for the synths. |

Me too, I don't see much wrong with that one. |
The solo to Spirit of the Radio is pretty sloppy and very much wankage.
Yeah, you'd think that if the idea of the song was to pay tribute to AOR rock FM radio and send up some its most famous standbys that Lifeson would go all-out arena rock for the solo instead of crapping out another "experiment." I love him though, he's got guts to do that. You can tell the solo is intended to appear irreverent. |

Yeeah, alot of his solos are pretty poor. But I LOVE Limelights solo.. omg and the instrumental part during The Trees is really good too |

I don't really like the solo in Limelight. But I absolutely love the rest of the song.
|
I like the Subdivisions guitar solo. In fact, the synth lead kicks *** too.
|
I'm currently obsessed with the song and album 2112.
Aright. I heard somewhere today that they were planning another tour. I thought it was on the radio but can't remember. Anybody know about this or is it just Boo-shaw?
I think it's a rumor. I'm pretty sure they're making one more album, which probaly means another tour. |

"Twilight Zone" is such a badass song. |

At this point, it's a rumor, but a pretty likely one. They've talked about another album, and haven't shown any signs of quitting. |
