I think I'm damaging my hearing more right now listening to Spiderland on these 4 1/2 foot tall speakers I just bought from my friend than I did last night.

I'm pretty sure it was all new material, with the exception of one Vision Creation Newsun song for the encore. The centerpiece of the show was a 9 foot tall tower of guitars that were fused together and used as a percussion instrument. Whenever it was hit on the guitar's body, it made a twangy sitar sound, but more electric--like it had been run through some effects. Later in the show they stuck some sticks through the strings which made an even more interesting sound.

They had all of the drumsets in a circle like a tribe of wild Japanese aborigines if such a thing exists (it doesn't). The show was essentially really really complex polyrythmns with all kinds of swirly effects like on [I]Super ae[/I] with Yamantaka screaming his Asian lungs out periodically. Towards the end of the show, he busted out this weird digeredoo looking stick and starting yelping into it. Whenever it was turned it would shift the pitch of the vocals like a whammy bar. It was a non-tour show so their was planned out lighting effects and great sound.


It sucks that I can't drink today due to me having a final tomorrow at 7 am. Today, I am not irish.

I have no high hopes that they'll ever play here, but it's nice to hope for it.

my family has been hounding on me about what i want to do with my degree/major.

tbh, probably nothing. today i feel like dropping out of school and going on a backpacking trip through south america or something. screw careers.

I want to go to the Andaman Islands. The thing stopping me, besides uni, is my severe arachnophobia. I really should get treatment for that.

My dad has always been on my back about my major. I guess I don't blame him because it looks pretty bleak right now. I've taken the 100 level classes for the majors that interested me and I disliked all of them. I'm actually regretting taking those AP's I did in high school because now I'm out of GE's I can take since I have no major declared.

I'm moving to northern california next winter and goin to college up there. Maybe I'll be a hippy squatter and live in the woods to grow pot like so many people up there actually do.

I want to do literature at uni but I don't think I'll get the grades unless I study for like 3 hours a night.

im doing philosophy bc its the only thing major im kind of interested in. i will likely do nothing with philosophy after i graduate. id prefer maybe to work odd jobs, travel and or live in the woods or something. i don't need a lot of money, just enough for the basics really.

I've toyed with that idea; its really appealing to me. However, I'm going to have to take out loans soon and my dad always guilt trips me when I mention this to him because he says he can't retire if I can't pay them back (which is true). I know I'm intelligent enough to do something worthwhile and get payed a lot, but my attention wanes and my goal isn't really to get rich. Just to own a house and have enough money to live.

see everyone in my family, for the most part, didn't have much money growing up so they all percieve going to college, getting a high paying job and big house as the ultimate goal. honestly though, that **** won't make me happy. im happiest when going on adventures with my friends, hiking, spontaneous, living fully in the moment type things. i don't want a structured plan, i don't want to work my way up a career ladder only to get to where everyone wants me to be and then realize the pointlessness of it all. as long as i am unabashedly attempting to do what i really, truly want to do (regardless of how unrealistic or unusual or whatever it appears to others) i will be happy and living the way i think all people should be living.

You're going to end up in a cubicle. Ask anyone who works in a cubicle and they'll tell you that they didn't plan it that way. Ask them what they thought a decade ago and they'd probably give a response such as yours if they haven't already forgotten.

well im not going to pre-doom myself. if you forsee that happening to yourself then it will happen to you. i honestly don't see that happening to me though, i won't allow it. people who don't, at least to some extent, realize their dreams, don't do so because they deep down don't believe they can or allow dissuading from others to creep over and take control.
