Little Man being Erased 06-20-2006 09:24 PM

it's made up for sure.

Zebra 06-20-2006 09:26 PM

Moby - Play (the second half of Play that is)

I can't listen to this album in full, the first half and the second half are just to different.

pppoe 06-20-2006 09:32 PM

It's not made up. It's electronic music made by an Asian dude. Filipino, if I remember correctly.

pppoe 06-20-2006 09:41 PM

Wixel - Heart

cb240 06-20-2006 09:46 PM

Two in a row you got by me, you're so fkn indie.

Little Man being Erased 06-20-2006 09:52 PM

Gang of Four - Entertainment!

If Gang of Four aren't the best post-punk band ever I'll eat my hat and listen to whatever is.

pppoe 06-20-2006 09:53 PM

Yeah.

Zappa 06-20-2006 10:05 PM

Magazine is my nominee for best post-punk band.

Daniel! 06-20-2006 10:13 PM

Rocket from the Crypt - Scream, Dracula, Scream!
Sublime - Sublime
Magazine is my nominee for best post-punk band.
I like me my post-punk and I have an album of theirs that I could just not get into at all. Something is most likely wrong with me.

Little Man being Erased 06-20-2006 10:27 PM
Magazine is my nominee for best post-punk band.
Alright then, looks like I'll need to listen to those guys.

pixiesfanyo 06-20-2006 10:28 PM

Wire here for the post-punk band.

I'm digging Domestica, it's one of my favorite records.

cb240 06-20-2006 10:32 PM

I like Birthday Party, Joy Division, Wire and Magazine all more than Gang of Four, but I'm a moron.

ATM 06-20-2006 10:38 PM

The only Wire album I have is Pink Flag but I really really dig it.

Zmev 06-20-2006 10:40 PM

Shellac - At Action Park

Little Man being Erased 06-20-2006 10:54 PM

Yeah I guess I should check out The Birthday Party since I love Nick Cave and post-punk and all that. And I should probably look further into Wire too.

I love that album.

ATM 06-20-2006 11:19 PM

Saul Williams is soooo good. I cant stop listening to Amethyst Rock Star.
Saul Williams is soooo good. I cant stop listening to Amethyst Rock Star.
Get his self titled.

Zappa 06-20-2006 11:49 PM
Wire here for the post-punk band.

Well, you know I loves me some Wire (they just beat Zappa on my last.fm!), but I only consider the albums after Pink Flag to be post-punk, and of those only Chairs Missing is great. Magazine has two remarkable post-punk classics.

Then you can get into counting Talking Heads' later 70s and early 80s stuff, and the choice gets really hard. But I don't think they're really post-punk anyway.

ATM 06-20-2006 11:58 PM
Get his self titled.
Yea, his self titled is better, but I like this album as well. I picked up his book at the library too, havent read it yet tho.

pixiesfanyo 06-21-2006 12:01 AM

Which one he has like four?

ATM 06-21-2006 12:02 AM
Which one he has like four?
Lost Emcee Scrolls

Yeah I don't really consider Talking Heads to be post-punk, but they certainly embrace elements of the genre.

Tangy zizzle 06-21-2006 03:18 AM
Rocket From the Crypt - Scream, Dracula, Scream!
The Jesus Lizard - Goat

I'm not so sure about the Jesus Lizard but Rocket From the Crypt is mind-blowingly awsome. The use of the sax and trumpet is awsome.
You should listen to Cougars.

ATM 06-21-2006 06:46 AM
Lost Emcee Scrolls
Oops, thats not the exact title, but its close to that.

dwass5656 06-21-2006 10:05 AM

cb240 06-21-2006 10:19 AM

Yeah sometimes there's a thin line between "New Wave" and "Post-Punk"

pixiesfanyo 06-21-2006 10:41 AM

Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World

This is such a fucking good album.. I can't wait for their new release, but I have a feeling it won't be better. I still stand by my statement that they sound like a hardcore Comets on Fire.

pppoe 06-21-2006 10:49 AM

Old, but...

Brief Candles - They Live, We Sleep

When's the new album due?

Haha, wow. My friend's brother is the drummer for this band. I've seen them practice in his basement before. I know they toured the west coast recently, did you see them on that tour?

Diggage:
Susanna and the Magical Orchestra - "Love Will Tear Us Apart Again"
Track off their upcoming Melody Mountain record in August.

asymm 06-21-2006 11:07 AM

Yeah, it's quite new. They finished that record around February or so. It's also - not their debut. They have a self-titled album.

Zappa 06-21-2006 11:11 AM
Magazine has two remarkable post-punk classics.
I realized I didn't have Magazine's second album. I just got it, and it's great. So make that 3.

Why does it seem the post-punk bands only ever have a handful of albums?

pixiesfanyo 06-21-2006 11:12 AM

Fall.

Because they are smart, and realize when they should stop.

Interstate 06-21-2006 11:53 AM

Dangerdoom - The Mouse & The Mask - I'm starting to finally tolerate, and maybe even like MF Doom.

asdf 06-21-2006 11:53 AM
The Avalanches - Since I Left You

pretty good.
I love the video for that song.

pppoe 06-21-2006 12:17 PM

Condre SCR - Jar Marsen

Cool. Give me his number.

I didn't catch them. It hurt my heart.

Ornery Cephalopod 06-21-2006 12:29 PM

I'm trying to learn more easy songs in which I can play guitar and sing at the same time without screwing up to develop my skillz... so I've been playing the hell out of Electric Wizard's "Wizard in Black" along to the CD

Other than that:

Comets on Fire - Avatar (it really is pretty freakin good)
Toby Driver - In the L... L... Library Loft
