Sure, I'll check out those amps. I've heard next to nothing about them.
By spider do you mean the Line 6 amp? A friend of mine has one, and aside from the array of effects, it's nothing.
Yea they suck! he turns it up....and it hurts my ears. He's a good player. But that amp is just not gonna last. I might pick a 15 watt version of it sometime (just for practing and playing around at night....but I don't think it's likly. L6 has a good idea with the spider. Now they need to back it up with a good product. And I think that's what VOX is doing. The reason I don't want a marshall is cause everyone in the world has a marshall. and the people that don't have spiders. This amp is really gonna set me apart form the other guitarist I play with. I just can't wait. |
I don't have one, nor have I been on it more than 5 times.
Myspace is completely against my moral values. It's part of the reason why people are so screwed up these days.
I dont mind it, got back in contact with old friends because of it. |
I'm not sure what amp yet, I still have to look around and try them out. It's definitely going to be a nice one though. Right now my number one choice is a Marshall JCM 2000.
Definitely play it before you buy it. I played one at a music store one time, and I really didn't like any of the tones I was getting. The clerk there told me you had to turn it up past 5 to get more gain.. I'd rather have enough gain without having to distort the power amp. Check out Peaveys, the 5150 is supposed to be an amazing amp. |

I'll definitely do that then. It would really suck to have to turn it up that loud to get decent distortion. |
get a krankenstein :p
|
I use 2, occasionally 3 or 4 different amps. I got connections. :p
Gig amp (If I PLAYED gigs...it's my out amp): Evans custom 200 watt. Lightest one I have. House amp: Mesa Boogie (no idea what model, but it's an old one) If I play with my brother (he uses the Boogie), Peavey Classic 50. Sweet tones. Finally (even though I haven't used this one in a while, due to it having a few problems), I'd occasionally use a Musicman 110 RD 50 watt amp. All I love the hell out of. You won't find better amps anywhere else. |
try out some Line6 amps. i never played them, but in magazines they are always praised.

No! bad advice! bad! It's a old Mesa you say? looks like you are sitting on some money. Where did you find it? |
why is it a bad advice? have you once played on line6 amps?
|
why is it a bad advice? have you once played on line6 amps?
Yes many many times. My lead guitarist has the 75 watt version my other guitar buddy has the thirty and this girl I know has the 50. I've played them all and if you want to do anything other then practice with it it's gonna suck. You turn it up and lose all tone. It's just not a very good amp. |
If you had enough money, you should get a Peavy 5150, a Laney, or a Marshall MF350.
|
why is it a bad advice? have you once played on line6 amps?
I've played on some and thought they were not bad. Britton is right though, they lose tone and sound quality if you turn em up. Marshall > all Edit: Thanks Mike, I dl that sideshow symphony cd with Vortex singing. I love it. :thumb: |
No! bad advice! bad!
It's a old Mesa you say? looks like you are sitting on some money. Where did you find it?
It's my dad's. He bought it off of Ebay...oh, 5 years ago, maybe. My dad's a professional guitarist, so I got access to much good equipment. |
I'm interested in the Mode Four as well, since it's built specifically for metal. Matt Bachand from Shadows Fall used to play through one and I love his tone. My only concern is that since it's not a tube amp it may not have that crystal clear sound. I'll play one though.

There you go bringing Shadows Fall into everything. :p |
Marshall > all
Not necessarily. |

Hey, I've got proof to back this amp up. :) Sounds like a trip to Guitar Center may be just on the horizon. |
Not necessarily.
I've always loved all the Marshall amps I've played. |
I haven't been to Guitar Center since I got my guitar pedal for my birthday...
Sucks, its like 20 minutes away, and I can't drive. I think Marshall falls into a rut that is shared with Gibson...you get a quality product, yet you pay out your *** for it. |

Depends, Gibsons through Marshalls sound very good, but the only truely metal amp that Marshall makes (Im talking about stacks btw) is the MF350. Esp's, Jackson's etc. sound better through Peavy's and Laney's IMO. |
Gibsons through ANYTHING sound good, pretty much. Cept those crappy *** practice amps that NOTHING sounds good through.
|
I've heard Gibsons sound bad in a variety of situations. Still, they're great guitars, except I find them horribly uncomfortable to play.
|

I fucking hate Gibsons. The only decent ones are 1000$+ and the only really good guitar they make is the custom which is around 3000$. And they're heavy as fuck so playing live with them sucks. |
I can't see me paying for a Gibson anytime soon. Why would I pay 2000 dollers when I can get a Epiphone that would serve the same purpose for not even half the money.
I wish my dad played a instrument...then I'd get access to awsome equipment. |
Man, Gibson and Epiphone are like Fenders and Squiers...made by the same company, yet no comparisn in quality.
I personally like Heritage guitars. Made by former Gibson employees, in Gibson factories, yet it's a smaller company, which means more attention to detail, and it's cheaper to boot. Plus, when you get a Gibson esque guitar, you can use it for a variety of purposes. |
I'm in love with Epiphone Les Pauls. That will probably be y next guitar.
Not huge fan of strats...but don't be supised if I won one at some time. |

good to know. thanks what amps does CoB use? |

what amps does CoB use?
Laney's and Mesa's I think. |
Alexi plays a Peavey head through a Marshall cab. I don't know the exact models though.
