Bump. I was sad this wasn't on the first page.
I'm still in love with the new HOF. I've heard some say his vocals got better but I think they sound worse. Any more opinions on this? Which brings me to the LA metal/punk/sludge band Saviours. Anyone into them? They have a similar sound to Bison BC, a little more raw though. I love their first few demo's CDs but the newest one's vocals just sound... different. |
Saviours is pretty meh
|
Yeah they are alright. More interesting live for sure but nothing special. Same with Bison B.C.
And Pikes vocals are basically the same, just clearer because of the production. |
Anyone listen to Discombobulation?
|
I saw Saviours at St. Vitus. I was told they were stoner doom, but they came off more as generic "Kill 'em All" style thrash. I was not a fan, and that dude can't sing live AT ALL. I've never heard them on record, but man, live, his vocals were ****.
|
i like saviours alot. crucifire rips pretty hard.
love bison bc too |
Just discovered a band called Church of Misery. Album called Houses of The Unholy. This band is great. Anyone else heard of them? Here's a link to them on Myspace.

Yeah they are one of the best stoner doom bands around IMO. I love how upbeat their stuff is while still being heavy as ****. The subjects of the songs being all about killers is kinda insane too since the music sounds like a party lol.

Except the guy above you. whats the point of being a prick to other people who share the same interests on a forum??? I'm guessing you're some angry teen who wants to look cool to others by acting like an idiot. And another thing, learn to spell. You don't know the difference between hear and here? |

Harvey Milk was by far one of the most physically demanding shows to listen to. Also one of the best. So heavy. So manly. So beautiful.
|
Their new album is going to rule.
|
So a mere 12 days before Doom Shall Rise. A longshot - but is anyone else here going?
Anyway I'm there. I can't wait to see the following: Rituals of the Oak, Iron Man, Nomad Son, 40 Watt Sun |
Epic festival is epic.
|
anyone know when new Harvey Milk arrives.
|
No, but they played stuff from the new album when I went to see them and it's some of the most draining music to listen to ever. Also one of the best displays of minimalist crushing music ever.

Well got back yesterday from Doom Shall Rise - still feel like death, tired, unshaven and generally not that happy to be back!
The big news just before we left for Germany was that Iron Man had cancelled two days before the festival! Pretty poor and they were one the bands I was most looking forward to seeing. In general, there wasn't a lot of bands that I was really into. Band of the festival for me was Rituals of The Oak who were just sublime - couldn't have asked for more. The debut (well second gig - the first was in front of about 20 people in a pub in Croydon) of 40 Watt Sun was probably the most anticipated event of the festival. It's hard to make a judgement on their music from a festival show (through a haze of beer, shouting Germans etc) but from this brief impression of the band I would say that I reckon they sound a bit like the second half of Footprints. Less crushing doom, more different chords. I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to ettin the album. Oh, and they played Footprints. Nomad Son were good, Isole were a bit boring, Jex Thoth were boring, sHever were pretty good, Kodiak were not my cup of tea, The 11th Hour were good when being old school death metal - less good when being doom. We did pretty well, got a good reception and sold a bucketload of CDs. All in all a fun-filled weekend. |
Nomad Son is the doom band with organ, right?
Glad you had a good time. Sucks about Iron Man, Argus, and Orodruin. |
new Ufomammut is so ****ing good.
|
I'll have to get that.
HoF tonight, seeing them for the 3rd time. |
Nomad Son is the doom band with organ, right?
Yep - It's Albert from Forsaken on bass.
Glad you had a good time. Sucks about Iron Man, Argus, and Orodruin.
Yeah they were the three bands I was most looking forward to seeing. But it was still a great festival - lots of beer and chats with friends new and old. |
