I've always wondered why everyone thinks Thrice is so great. I have a hard time hearing anything special about them. Did they invent or revolutionize the style they (and millions of others) play? Is that it, or is there something else I'm missing?

I dunno how to exactly describe The Cramps. Greasy, bluesy, rockabilly garage punk.

I'm listening to it now. I think I understand better, although I still don't think it's THAT great.

It's also incredibly disheartening to think of all the thousands of bands who figuratively put this album up on a bar like some sort of musical pole vault, charged at it with music outstretched, and utterly failed to clear the bar.

Their loss I guess. Thrice is ok by me.

I want to know what Thrice are like as people.

I bet one of them has a secret cape-wearing habit.

Is Petitioning the Empty Sky a better Converge album than Jane Doe? It could be.

Oh and Tangy: this guy on iTunes has three Jon Spencer Blues Explosion albums: Now I Got Worry, Plastic Fang, and Xtra-Acme USA. Which one is best?

Best is probably [I]Now I got Worry[/I], but [I]Plastic Fang[/I] is my favourite. Go for [I]Now I got Worry[/I], it's a good start.

I'm already on it. Seems pretty good, especially "Chicken Dog."
