No You Idiot what Are you thinking?!?!? Haha

I like how this thread doubles as the "How much cooler is where you live compared to other mxers" Thread.

the other night i started giving this guy guitar lessons. he was fairly old, but i didnt make any comments, even though most of my students are under sixteen.

he said when he was young, him and his friend would also go to this club to watch the sexy go go dancers, and there was always this black guitarist there. he said he saw the guitarist there like about ten times, but he was always just watching the dancers, instead of the band.

he found out after, that the guitarist was hendrix...and he had no clue.

what a waste of being born in the sixties.

besides 3MTA3, was anyone else here old enough to see all the old rockstars in their prime?

my favourite is Bayou Country, but Willie and the Poor Boys may appeal to some people more. all of their albums are awesome so im not sure. maybe take a peek at the songs and see which ones you like/maybe dont like.

3MTA3 11-06-2004 02:59 PM

The original question on this thread was about noticing an increased interest in classic rock, especially among younger people. Yes, BOnzO, I have noticed that. 2 examples: My nephews and their friends love AC/DC and Led Zeppelin, as well as other older rock bands. I was working at someone's house last summer and heard a band practicing in the basement. They were playing Purple Haze and Stairway To Heaven. The homeowner informed me they were a bunch of 15 year olds. I'm glad to see this and I hope it causes some (what I consider to be) positive changes in modern music to occur.
Your right you do all that. All I was saying was that you sometimes act as though your musical taste is superior to everyone elses(In some cases it obviously is, but in others, it is opinion.) And I called you above everyone else because you say things like "you, Jpj, and the other non-originals", it just came off as though you think because you were an original your better than everyone else. That might not be what you think, just how I read it. If that wasn't what you meant, then I apologize for creating a useless argument and wasting space.
Well by god, it's not my fault you take it that way. Would it be any less offending if I was to call all of you, the second waver of posters in The Classic Rock Thread?

That's ok, there's another one brewing here.

thickasabrick 11-06-2004 03:10 PM

i've heard a few people mention Rory Gallagher over the past little while. Can anyone give me into on him or his band, and any good songs i should try listening to.

the LEMON SONG HAS THE GREATEST AVATAR OF ALL TIME

3MTA3 11-06-2004 03:15 PM

Rory Gallagher was an Irish blues/rock guitarist who played at Woodstock as a member of Taste. I'm fond of his Tatoo album. Tatoo'd Lady, A Million Miles Away and Crest Of A Wave are good songs to check out. The 1st 2 songs are on Tatoo. I saw him in concert (opening for Rush) and he was great.

thanks. Is his Tatoo album part of his solo career? or part of Taste? Does he have a solo career, or should i just search stuff under Taste?

Badmoon 11-06-2004 03:22 PM

I like the way I quoted him, with the colors and all.

magicbus 11-06-2004 03:23 PM

Yea I wasn't sure what that was. Good job though.

thickasabrick 11-06-2004 03:24 PM

ya i prefer these kinds of threads to short "15 minutes on the first page and then they are gone forever" kind of threads. plus the regulars in this thread are smart and have meaningful posts, not like in some threads.
