Right there with you, bro. My professor has a PhD in math from Princeton but she's from Romania and speaks English poorly. She's amazing at math and speaks THAT language well but her English is...ehhh.

It's a hassle.

So I have a paper due tonight at 10 pm about comparing/contrasting Booker T. Washington with Frederick Douglass. Guess who hasn't started yet?

>_>

-Gav
My professor speaks perfect english, but he thinks you are the biggest moron on the planet if you ask a simple question, really pisses me off sometimes. Good to see I'm not the only one that waits to the last minute to do anything.

Matt? 09-18-2006 06:59 PM

it's the american way

deadohiosky9 09-18-2006 07:04 PM

I hope I don't have to take Math in college.

I'm pretty sure Math is coming for you in college.

Anyone feeling nice enough to send me some Usurp Synapse, Louise Cyphre, Apoplexy, or June Paik, any or all?

RetiredAt21 09-18-2006 07:16 PM

I don't think I could handle college. So much homework and stuff.

Think of all the positives: chicks, booze, parties, no parents, only 12 or so hours of class a week compared to 30 in high school. It really outweights the negatives.

Unless you're a math, chem, physics, bio, premed, or science major here, you don't need to take a math class. You can take another natural science in its place.

srt-4 09-18-2006 09:10 PM

shai hulud owns.

college is way way better than high school. mainly because you get to take the classes you want (especially after the first two years), the teachers actually know what they are talking about, and you really learn stuff. i learned very little from high school, most of it was just wasted time. as far as the social aspect, for me, that got real old real fast. there are so many worthless people that have no greater ambition in life than to party as many nights a week as possible, and i really don't enjoy being around them.

Brain Toad 09-18-2006 09:18 PM

OMG I post.

I had to take math in college, unless you took advanced courses in high school, I think you at least have to take 1 college math course, but it varies by state. I had to take two, Inter. Algebra (which is like Alg. 2 in high school) because I ****ed up in high school and I'm taking Stat now.

College is so much better than high school. There is "more" homework per se, but it's meaningful and contributes to the class. High school homework is busy work college homework will help you better understand the concepts your prof has given you, so it doesn't feel like as much. Plus most is essays and essays are damn easy.

90% of the profs treat their students with respect and equality, which is really nice. But there is the 10% that are snobbish or should be teaching high school, or should be thrown off a bridge.

Speaking of college, I am doing that presentation on emo on Friday. We were put into groups on Friday and I asked my group what they thought of the idea and they were really interested. I'm going to start gathering the music for it and start writing a bit. I'll post what I'm doing as a finish for any last minute touches.

Anxious 09-18-2006 09:28 PM

Are you at a University yet?

Matt? 09-18-2006 09:32 PM

Matt? 09-18-2006 11:57 PM

wooooooooooooooooooord just won an ebay auction. that always pumps me up

Brain Toad 09-18-2006 11:59 PM
Are you at a University yet?
No that's a year from now. Community college is pretty much the uni experience without the dorms and living on campus.

Anxious 09-19-2006 12:06 AM

Where are you thinking of transfering to? Most of the UC's and Cal States are impacted as hell.

Brain Toad 09-19-2006 12:35 AM

Sonoma State

I ain't even touching the UCs, way too packed. Though Merced is still pretty empty because it's new.
Would anyone reccomend any of the following bands?
Last.fm recommended:
Shai Hulud
Crossed Out
Usurp Synapse
Champion
Louise Cyphre
The Apoplexy Twist Orchestra
June Paik
Depends what you are into. Crossed Out is just straight awesome west coast power violence, Shai Hulud are an amazing hardcore band, Usurp makes anything they touch amazing, Louise Cyphre peaked (in my opinion) with their split with La Quiete, Champion is a pretty average Bridge 9 band, and I couldn't tell you anything about the other two except they are Euro Skram bands.

Luxor 09-19-2006 09:36 AM

bottlerocket 09-19-2006 09:58 AM

Matt? 09-19-2006 02:46 PM

Luxor 09-19-2006 02:54 PM

Who is the split with

Matt? 09-19-2006 02:56 PM

toru okada

i don't like them that much, but the song i've heard from the split is my favorite of theirs, and i love olive tree so i'm pretty happy about it

Luxor 09-19-2006 03:07 PM

Is that the one with the lone islands and birds song? Pretty good.

Matt? 09-19-2006 03:10 PM

ya, but the bad part is not until 2008. comedy central is bringing it back, but cartoon network has the rights through 2007. so they can't show them until that contract expires.

i have their self-titled on my computer. i like it, but for some reason i want to compare them to yaphet kotto, which i like much better. i guess because they both have names that sound japanese to me. haha.

Matt? 09-19-2006 04:06 PM

yaphet kotto is imo a little better than toru. i don't listen to either band that much.

srt-4 09-19-2006 04:16 PM

i like the instrumentals of both of them, but i like yaphet kotto's vocals way more

White Goodman 09-19-2006 04:19 PM

Yaphet Kotto is probably one of my favorite emo bands at the moment.

rabl brings back good memories of last winter.

which is kind of rediculous because it was one of the worst times of my life
toru okada

Dude, do you have any idea when it came out? I remember it kept getting hyped on coming out and then I didn't hear ANYTHING forever and then in like July someone had it for sale, I was like what the fuck. It's supposed to rule.

Matt? 09-19-2006 04:43 PM

i'm not sure, i don't think it's like on distro but if it is, everyone should buy a copy.

i remember reading it was like a small amount tops maybe sixty... not really sure but i sorta remember that... and they just had like a record release show (toru) earlier this year and i think that may have just been it...

don't take my word on it but i sort of remember reading that on the toru myspace when the show was coming up... dunno if they did any other pressings

whiteminority 09-19-2006 04:44 PM

It was supposed to 50.

Also, Matt what is your vlv name?

Matt? 09-19-2006 04:46 PM

maybe.. i dunno it's hard to find that kind of info

Luxor 09-19-2006 05:20 PM

Yaphet Kotto sucks. Atleast what I've heard, that is.
