I might just check that out. Thanks joe.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus

I can't believe it took me this long to listen to this.

cb240 06-19-2006 08:13 PM

Yeah I love Lilys, actually got into them before BJM.

Daniel! 06-19-2006 09:34 PM

Rocket From the Crypt - Scream, Dracula, Scream!
The Jesus Lizard - Goat

I'm not so sure about the Jesus Lizard but Rocket From the Crypt is mind-blowingly awsome. The use of the sax and trumpet is awsome.

cb240 06-19-2006 09:41 PM

A lot of people around these parts have been into those 2 bands lately. Curious.

Daniel! 06-19-2006 09:44 PM

Ya, I've been seeing their names a lot recently so I decided to get some stuff by both bands.

Mischief Brew - Songs From Under the Sink
This album is just as good as Smash the Windows. Songs like All Our Comrades and Coffee, God and Cigarettes are among the best he's done. If you haven't heard him, it's excellent gypsy/swing/folk-punk reminiscent of The Pogues and Tom Waits.

Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains - All Power to the Wingnuts
Great gutter-rock/folk-punk. I've been looking for this for ages and it doesn't dissapoint.

Heh. Listening to Project Polaroid right now, one of Kool Keith's projects released this year. This is actually better than the Return of Dr. Octagon at first glance, except it doesn't have any songs as individually awesome as "Perfect World" or "Al Green." I guess I've got to pick up Nogatco Rd now. Also heard the Yo La Tengo leak. "Pass the Hatchet" + "The Story Of" = Oh shiitake.
