Me too!

Oh. :upset:

I hate Ludacris, because I'm bitter about being tricked into buying all his albums and they ended up all sucking except for the singles. Nelly is my favorite black rapper, other then Ice Cube and a few others.
I hate Nelly and I love Ludacris.

As queer as this sounds, Rocha will always be my favorite rapper, even though he's a rock-rapper and not a pimpin' gangsta.
I hate Nelly and I love Ludacris.
Oh my! Country Grammar has to be one of my favorite rap albums, I'm not into the underground crap much. Busdriver and the Roots are about as far as I go, and I dunno Ludacris has weak albums and he put "Alanta" as a hidden track. Which was my favorite song of his.

Illmatic 02-19-2006 11:21 PM

though Public Enemy is good too

TheDMV 02-19-2006 11:23 PM

I can't dislike Nelly after such fm radio staples as: Must Be the Money, Gettin Hot in Here, Grillz, etc.

I'm sorry, but it's the damn truth.

TheDMV 02-19-2006 11:26 PM

There are better white rappers out there than Zach. Paul Wall is not one of them. And yes, I think that Bradley Nowell is.

edit: actually, paul wall is pretty good. I just think he's a fat slob

Country Grammer is also one of my favorites but that's the only thing from Nelly I've ever enjoyed. I hate pretty much everything since then, and the new single is just an atrocity.

I like the underground stuff too but I'm around black people more often than not so the popular stuff is what I hear and I like it.

Ludacris' best song is Southern Hospitality.
There are better white rappers out there than Zach.
He's hispanic.

nobodyblossomsforever 02-19-2006 11:27 PM

I guess I'm not into the kind of rap you guys are into.

(i just think rocha has a unique powerful voice =\)

I don't think you really like rap at all, no offense or anything.

Actually Paul Wall is an embarrassment, the whole Houston scene is just a joke.

(except Scarface but he's a vet, he's been in the game for 15+ years)

I haven't heard it. I haven't listened to new radio or watched MTV since the last time FOB performed on MTV :P, I'm falling behind on pop culture.
And now that I look I like Nellyville better then Country Grammar.

The last song I liked from Houston was the Mike Jones and Ying Yang Twins - Badd. So catchy.

TheDMV 02-19-2006 11:37 PM

Is Chamillionare from the Houston scene? My friend and I were making fun of him the other day.

Jacaranda 02-19-2006 11:37 PM
Is Chamillionare from the Houston scene? MY friend and I were making fun of him the other day.
Ya him and Paul used to be pals but something and something later and they hate each other.
I think its cause Paul ditched him for Mike Jones.

Illmatic 02-19-2006 11:39 PM

Chamillionaire is Houston, Lil' Flip is Houston, all those clowns are Houston.

Maybe Chamillionare was too thin, and he wanted to hang with more chubbos.

Everything about Mike Jones is funny.

Zack's good at being a really pissed off communist. That's about it.

TheDMV 02-19-2006 11:42 PM

I would say he's liberal, not communist.

No he's a communist.

A communist who happens to play TRL, Woodstock 99, and the Godzilla soundtrack.

idk.
I'm pretty liberal myself, but I think if Zack leaned any further left he'd running in circles on the floor like Curly from the Three Stooges.

"Country Grammar" was excellent, but only because I noticed that Nelly stole a few verses from that little song the kids sing in the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks and switched it around to have it be about pot. The association made the song take on new life in me.

Shattered_Future 02-20-2006 01:01 AM

I think the only 2 rap groups I listened to for more than 5 seconds without shutting it off in disgust were Haiku D'Etat and Public Enemy.

Riva 02-20-2006 01:33 AM

I like Jedi Mind Tricks, Haiku D'Etat, Nas, Public Enemy and a few others.

Josh 02-20-2006 05:23 AM

i just don't really listen to rap, other than RATM. if there's actually a point to whatever rap song happens to be on the radio, ie. the lyrics mean something or are just incredibly stupidly funny, then i'll maybe leave it on, but that's about it.

This is the kind of rap I'd expect metal heads to be more 'comfortable' with:
http://brainwashed.com/vvm/downloads/vvmtest/offal13/offal13_b07_sro.mp3

It's pretty extreme, so be warned.

extreme's one way to describe it, i guess. it was a bit bizarre IMO.

Lord Abortion 02-20-2006 08:09 AM

/Refrains from simply bashing both RATM and rap itself.

I did that once, and I can't be bothered with an argument where people could probably quite rightly call me closed minded.

I just don't like it. Each to their own.

How are you all today?

kurrpt 02-20-2006 08:11 AM

fair enough. I wouldnt really call RATM rap at ALL. If you did, they you'd have to say bands like POD are rap, and thats just lame.

Me? Alright i guess

RATM kind of go in between two camps of music I really don't like.
Rap vocals and they are also part of that horrible Grungy sounding American Band group of the 90's that have Pantera, Machine head*, Black Label society and all those Precursor to nu-metal bands.

*I actually quite like Machine head, though

if my RAP you mean : no singing involved, only spoken words in a rhythmic pattern...

then i could agree

Theres a few tracks by Rage i liked. There seems to be less and less I listen to.

Yeah, it's not a big thing, I just don't like rap music, and I certainly don't like the negative cultural aspect that goes with it.
Not that there aren't positives, I recognise the value of early Public enemy and other works. I think the cultural aspect of them is important, not the whole guns and bitches thing, you know?

And the political thing that Rage have, I don't like either.
The whole "pissed off at the government" thing is something I really despise

kurrpt 02-20-2006 08:29 AM

i have no problem with people being pissed off at the gov't. I would agree that basing a whole band about such a things is stupid, but they made some good money.

I dont think many people really knew where the band stood on most issues, so i would hardly call them polotical

Rap wasn't always guns and hoes. Public Enemy era for example was very socially and politically aware.
