Good, just bored at work. How was Spain?

Canadian-Guy 08-18-2005 10:31 AM
I'm back from Spain y'all

What's everyone been up to?
Not much here, looking for a job mostly.

But omg how was Spain?

Very hot, just chilled by the pool or practiced on the golf driving range in the apartment complex. Twas good - my last holiday ever with my parents.

A Goonie 08-18-2005 10:36 AM

Don't complain, I'd love to go to Cali!

A Goonie 08-18-2005 10:49 AM

we should switch places :p
So anybody else get their A-level/AS results today? How did you all do?
First person ever in my county to get a Merit on the Advanced Extension English paper.

Aside from that, C for Engish Lit, C for Music Tech, and D for Music.

Nice one! :thumb:

I have to wait till the college posts mine because I missed out on getting them today cos of flying back to the UK from holiday :upset:
I've got my job sorted anyway though so it doesn't really matter too much what results I get.

Zappa 08-18-2005 01:37 PM
C for Engish Lit
If you drop a bunch of letters from that phrase, you a part of the female genitalia.

Zappa 08-18-2005 01:41 PM

Obviously I meant to have the word "get" before "a" and after "you." But since it's been quoted, editing is pretty pointless.

So is anyone else as sluggish as me when browsing mx? Sometimes I check a forum page (Alt/Indie for example (indie points ++)) out, find a thread that looks clickworthy, use the "Go to last post" button on it, scroll down the page, check it out a little, and then press "back" on my browser. Then I maybe look at another site for a minute or change song in my music program or something, and eventually click myself back to mx. So I check out the threads on the page again, and press "Go to the last post" on one, only to realize that it's the thread that I just checked out. The process is sometimes repeated several times.

Of course, this could easily be avoided if I used the forum itself to navigate back to the forum page since that would reload the page and not show any new posts in the thread. But then I would have to scroll up to the top of the page, and I mean, who has the energy to do that nowadays?

So yeah, discuss, and share any similar experiences.

I have a scroll button on my mouse for minimal hand movement.

Lazy++

sweboy 08-18-2005 02:07 PM

Dude, I have that too. I even have a scroll thing on the left side of my keyboard, so I can scroll with one hand one each scroll for ultimate speed. But I'm too lazy to do that. That's how lazy I am.

Zappa 08-18-2005 02:08 PM

I use the "home" button on my keyboard.

Wanker 08-18-2005 02:10 PM

Well, surfing the internet isn't the most stimulating experience anyways...

I use the home button too. Makes it much easier.

 I thought I was lazy!

Luxor 08-18-2005 02:34 PM

MX is so boring, yet I keep coming back... several times a day.

On another note, I saw "Crash" last night at this cheap theatre. I had never even heard anything about it before, but it was good.

YDload 08-18-2005 02:47 PM
How did Dream Theater and Symphony X go over with the hardcore DEP and Megadeth fans? :p
Are you kidding? Dream Theater got the second-largest reception there (which made sense because they were right before Megadeth in the lineup). They played some really heavy shit as well, which was weird because they didn't headbang to their own music at all.

Symphony X, on the other hand, was a second-stage band. They were still well-received, and probably the coolest band to regularly sing about dragons.

Anyone else notice that the Jazz & Funk forum has exactly 1,000 threads? Good job, Zappa.

Zappa 08-18-2005 05:20 PM

Didn't notice. That subforum sucks.

Daniel! 08-18-2005 06:57 PM

I have decided that the most fun song ever to drum along to is "Get Off My Cloud" by the Rolling Stones.

I just said goodbye to my girlfriend :(

I came home a wreck, but my little brother had a friend over, and after a quick, bleary-eyed bout of Halo 2, I felt quite a bit better.

College I presume? (Girlfriend)

Halo never fails to cheer me up.

JonM 08-19-2005 01:07 AM

Yep. We're only going to be 90 miles apart once I get up to school, but we won't have cars, and the more time we spend trying to see each other, the more time we lose in that crucial period of social adjustment at the beginning of school. We're planning on staying together, but clearly it's not going to be the same.

Jacaranda 08-19-2005 01:11 AM

Oh damn that really sucks. And that is why I dread the day I turn 18 and go to College... It has to suck to have all your friends split all over the place, not to mention your Girl Friend. :(

JonM 08-19-2005 01:17 AM

What's worse is that I'm one of the last to leave (I leave the 30th), so I have had to watch everybody leave, and now I had to watch her leave. It's not fun.

Now, to distract myself. Congratulations on 1,000 posts.

And more importantly, who wants to go through this list of FREE Godspeed bootlegs and figure out which ones to download? Most of them are ENORMOUS, and I only want to get the two or three best.

br3ad_man 08-19-2005 01:33 AM

I feel bad for people in the US. For me, Uni is at the most, a 90 minute train trip. I'm planning on going to one 20 minutes away from my house, but that's assuming I get a good enough OP.

The NPC 08-19-2005 02:42 AM

Ah the college life, I love it.

I know (somewhat) how you feel. I have a close friend who I met over the summer move 6 hours away, and we were dating before he left but we knew it would be really difficult blah blah, so we broke up. I still talk to him on the phone 2-3 times a week and things, so its nice. That was a super hard day though.

Kyle 08-19-2005 06:13 AM

is it just me or is Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry a really good song? It's so catchy.

biografiend 08-19-2005 06:31 AM

I used to love that song when I was in 6th grade. I also loved my Furby.

br3ad_man 08-19-2005 06:47 AM

I had a Christmas Furby. w00t boxing day sales.

, You can never be too old for that song. I never had a furby though, more of a tamogotchi man.
