i cant wait 'till you lodge your head from your ass

br3ad_man 06-18-2006 07:36 PM

Sweet. I didn't know you liked emo/screamo at all.

I listened to In On The Kill Taker five times in a row last night. Fugazi are awesome. I need to bust out my copy of Red Medicine now. Right now I'm listening to the new Underoath album. I actually quite like it. I liked some songs from their last album too, which I guess means I'm lame.

Zebra 06-18-2006 08:13 PM

The Casualties - On the Front Line

I feel like such a punk rawker.

Tangy zizzle 06-18-2006 08:18 PM

400 Blows
The Buzzcocks
Luke Buda
Pavement - Wowee Zowee (my favourite I think)

Zappa 06-18-2006 08:36 PM

I am listening to "Crazy" for the first time under my new Bose headphones, and I noticed wooshing sounds that I never heard before. I thought a car was passing by outside.

Anxious 06-18-2006 09:01 PM
Discography by Indian Summer is some of the best emo I've ever heard. Am I allowed to call it emo?
My favorite emo band of all time. They are extremely bi-polar-- with all the silence then explotion and the screaming and the wahahahad.
bIG fLAME - Rigour

Chaotic as hell post punk! I am going to fall in love with this album, it's so abrasive and disjointed. The way things should be.
Great band!

Zappa 06-18-2006 09:05 PM

Alex Drosen - Sit and Melt
Under these Bose headphones my record sounds so much fuller and colorful! I listened to this the other day for the first time in a couple months, in my mom's car, and it sounded thin and basically like poop. But now I'm really captivated by it in this more dynamic presentation.

Tangy zizzle 06-18-2006 09:14 PM

Go you!

I assembled another group last week. We have an organ player (with an actual organ) now. There'll be some crappy MD recordings made soon, I'll post 'em.

Glitterati 06-18-2006 09:40 PM

Frank Zappa - Freak Out!

Forgot just how ****ing good this album is. Haven't listened to it in like a year.

Good times.

masada 06-18-2006 11:40 PM

Slint - Spiderland
Blonde Redhead Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons
and some regina spektor

asymm 06-19-2006 12:05 AM
Do you come to this album with no background in free jazz?
No, but it is a minimal background.

Zappa 06-19-2006 12:27 AM

I would highly recommend Eternal Rhythm by Don Cherry.

Luxor 06-19-2006 01:08 AM
I do believe it to all be studio material. I got it from dei on slsk.

I like Rites of Spring and Embrace, and some screamo bands like Gospel, Hot Cross, Saetia, pg. 99, and Off Minor.
Whaaaaaaat?!

That's awesome

asymm 06-19-2006 01:21 AM
I would highly recommend Eternal Rhythm by Don Cherry.
Thank you, I'll listen to it soon.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 06-19-2006 01:31 AM

The Olivia Tremor Control - Dusk At Cubist Castle

About time I checked them outtt.
I like it. I still need time to let it sink in, I might even love it.

xstraightxedge777x 06-19-2006 02:34 AM

here's a little list of some bands i've been listening to a lot lately:

August Burns Red (good band despite the terrible name)
Melee
Underoath
Blesk
Terminal
Sufjan Stevens (simply amazing songwriter)

those are just a few

br3ad_man 06-19-2006 02:53 AM

I just finished reviewing New Order's Substance. I've been listening to this record a lot to try to review it. The problem is, "Ceremony" and "Temptation" pwn everything else on it, so I only ever listen to those songs, even though the rest of it is really good.

Against Miik! 06-19-2006 02:59 AM

Anything AFI
God Is An Astronaut
Juelz Santana(wtf?)

sketchyjoe 06-19-2006 03:26 AM
The Casualties - On the Front Line

I feel like such a punk rawker.
The Casualties are such an incredibly awful band.

Interstate 06-19-2006 04:34 AM

Slint - Spiderland (I want to get Tweez but I'm afraid it will pale in comparison.)
Death Cab - Forbidden Love EP

Sepstrup 06-19-2006 04:57 AM

Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers. They're playing at Roskilde so I thought I'd check them out. Pretty cool album

sketchyjoe 06-19-2006 05:34 AM

Blackalicious - The Craft

Zebra 06-19-2006 09:03 AM

Brian Eno - Another Green World

This album is perfect.

Interstate 06-19-2006 11:47 AM
Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers. They're playing at Roskilde so I thought I'd check them out. Pretty cool album
I've been wanting to get this album for ages. I've always imagined Silver Jews as similar to Two Gallants for some reason (another band I need to properly check out)
Brian Eno - Another Green World

This album is perfect.
Quoted for truth.

Just dug All Time Quarterback - All Time Quarterback - Haven't listened to it in a while but it's still sweet.

Currently listening to The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow. I don't think I like it as much as Oh, Inverted World.

Bukowski 06-19-2006 12:37 PM

Silver Jews are great, they don't really sound like Two Gallants though. There are vague similarities I guess.

Mission of Burma - The Obliterati
Jesus Lizard - Goat
Red House Painters - Down Colorful Hill
Red House Painters - Ocean Beach

Yay I get to listen to music at work.

Interstate 06-19-2006 01:20 PM
Yay I get to listen to music at work.
I envy you so much. Where do you work/what do you work as?

Kyle 06-19-2006 01:27 PM

I get to listen to music, but only what they play on the stupid loudspeaker, which is in annoying loop. There are a few songs which some on that I like, such as:

Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles (actually love this song)
The Coral - Pass it On
REM - The Great Beyond
Ozzy Osbourne - Dreamer
Sam Cooke - Don't Know Much About History
The Isley Brothers - Who's That Lady?

That's it I think.

ATM 06-19-2006 02:17 PM

We play music at work, but its a music store :-D

I just got back from Bonnaroo and now im going to listen to all the bands I just saw.

I'd love to work in a music store.

Who did you see at Bonnaroo?

Kyle 06-19-2006 03:51 PM

Sparta - Porcelain

This album is just excellent. Before listening to Sparta I was under the impression they were meant to be a really boring band, but this is really not like that at all.

Is Porcelain a rare exciting album, or is all Sparta this good?

Daniel! 06-19-2006 03:58 PM

Pixies - Doolittle
Pixies - Surfer Rosa

I've finally come to the conclusion that Surfer Rosa is the better of the two.

Little Man being Erased 06-19-2006 04:04 PM

Truth.

Zappa 06-19-2006 04:05 PM

Duh.

Ornery Cephalopod 06-19-2006 04:09 PM

-Mr. Bungle - s/t and California

Haven't given the 'Bungle a listen in a while, then I saw some videos and live stuff on Youtube. So a minor case of Bungle Fever hit.

-Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy"

Just that one song. The few others songs I have are nice, but I still haven't really dug them much. I dunno.

-Old Man Gloom - "Zozobra"

Posty-metal a bit on the too-repetitive side, but it was good for a background thang.

-The Fever - In the City of Sleep

Definitely nowhere near a favorite of mine, but it's kinda neat.

ATM 06-19-2006 04:41 PM
I'd love to work in a music store.

Who did you see at Bonnaroo?
Tons of bands but my favorite shows were Radiohead, Beck, and Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars.

cb240 06-19-2006 04:48 PM

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Take It from the Man!

It's all right. I like most of the other stuff I've heard from them a little better.

sketchyjoe 06-19-2006 05:00 PM

Dave Dondero - The Transient
I've never really listened to this album despite like all his other stuff. I don't know why. It could be the best of the lot. Reminiscent of Ted Leo but more folky.

Little Man being Erased 06-19-2006 05:02 PM

^^ That sounds worth a look.

pixiesfanyo 06-19-2006 05:23 PM
Except "Angry Son" has the most trite, cliche'd guitar part ever. And the Slint vocals on top just make it a laughable recording all around. Other than that, I dig the bluesy samples and the emo explosions throughout.
That's the whole point of emo.

Laughable recordings.

sketchyjoe 06-19-2006 05:31 PM
^^ That sounds worth a look.
You should definitely check him out. He has some great stuff. As well as The Transient, Shooting at the Sun With a Water Gun is very good and South of the South and Spider West Myshkin and a City Bus are perfectly good albums.
