I didn't suggest it, I just said if he wants to get it done professionally, he'll have to pay more for it. I didn't know what method he was going to use for it.
Though I would maintain that someone who has a spray booth, airbrush, compressor etc and a bit of skill would do a better job than someone doing it themselves on the cheap for the first time. Plus not everybody actually wants to paint their own guitar. And if you don't want to do it, you pay someone else to do it because you can't be bothered, right? IDK, I wouldn't get a respray done by someone for lots of cash personally, but I'd say it's pretty ignorant to suggest it's a terrible idea and that you'd default to doing an equally good a job as someone who actually makes money from doing something because they're good at it. |
dude im lolling at chris for suggesting a professional
lmao a professional painter this is why the word "professional" doesnt mean anything. because every stupid mother ****er who has ever had a job is a professional. aka nobody is a professional and painting is easy here ill tell you what to do step by step 1) get paint 2) get brushes 3) prepare object 4) paint object 5) ??? 6) profit
Have you ever actually tried doing a quality paint job? It's really a lot harder than you'd think. A lot of careful prep work, and a lot of slow paint work, and a lot of attention to fine detail. The cost of quality prep materials, good paints, and buffing supplies isn't cheap. Furthermore, if the paint job is f**ked up, it will be on the painter's dime to fix it. |
we need a "raayl refins a bass" thread for some lulz ^_^

Raayl, weren't you the one arguing with me that, because I haven't shown you any of my music accomplishments, I have no right to critique your music? So therefore, because I have no painting experience, I logically have no right to paint my guitar either. Now I'm just confused. :confuse: Regardless, I'm gonna have someone else do it. |

it's cute though. wait, did you say 'brush'? wait, did someone else say painting a guitar was hard? |
Yeah I did.

I would rather prep and paint a guitar than one living room wall.

Yeah, get a job. I kid, I kid. |
It's funny, I come back here on a whim, and within a few threads see my name mentioned and also a bunch of the old regulars still posting.
How are ya Gaslight? |
**** mate, nothing noteworthy or even interesting is happening or has happened in my recent memory.
What about you? |
Hmm, not too much dude, have just been gigging a heap with my band, it's been a pretty exciting time. Just got back from a tour of North Western Australia, which was awesome. We ended up playing at Southbound Festival (I think our equivalent of Falls Festival?) and also West Coast Blues and Roots, which was amazing. We've also just recorded a single, which we're hoping to get some Triple J play with, so it's definitely an exciting time man.
Oh, and we should be over in your neck of the woods around October/November :) Playing much nowadays? |
What's your band?
I play a bit man, I teach a few days a week and do originals gigs now and then but I've still never cracked any worthwhile paying ones. Bit of a drag really, feels like all the time I've put in has been a waste sometimes, but a good jam or a good gig does still feel good. |
We're called the Joe Kings, man. http://www.myspace.com/thejoekings
It ain't me playing on those recordings though :p I know exactly what you mean man, keep at it though. Before this band I was kind of in the same situation, I had some gigs here and there, but nothing that felt like it was doing me any good career wise. All I can say is that it really is about meeting the right people :) |
Yeah man that's it ain't it. I've played on some sweet songs I feel and just wrapping up an album with another band that I think will sound nice too, I've got no shortage of fun music to play I just want to see the playing side of my career kick off money-wise, teaching is easy but it just ain't playing.
I'll have a geez at these tunes. Inevitable yarn here - what's your gear like these days? |
