Weekend Warrior is only good because of the Guitar solos and the little interlude thing \m/

Josh 10-06-2005 06:41 AM

Judas be my Guide > Weekend Warrior. i like both, but JBMG is one of my favourite songs on that album.
Your Penguin's a-mazing.
Fixed.

And where is "That girl" from?
Fixed.

I think it was one of the B-sides for one of the songs released on Somehwere in Time...

On a more brighter and way cooler note; I was out last night and they played Fear of the Dark (RiR version) at this nightclub, it was a beautiful site, me and two other guys headbanging... \m/

Lord Abortion 10-06-2005 08:47 AM

Erm, "reach out was the B/w to wasted years I think, Stranger in a strange land, I believe was the other single.
Clive Burr > Nicko McBrain

...Just my opinion. Maiden's early drumming stuff ("Phantom of the Opera," "Killers," "The Prisoner" etc.) just seems more complex.
"i still think he [clive burr] is the best drummer maiden has ever had " - Bruce Dickinson

i prefer clives drumming aswell........mcbrain is still awesome though

-The Frank 10-06-2005 09:08 AM

Any one else got the special edition of metal hammer . It was celebrating 30 years of maiden, no ads whatsoever. twas good stuff

crag 10-06-2005 09:08 AM
I take it you're not a drummer? :D

"The Wicker Man" is one of the greatest metal drum tracks of all time. McBrain plays with so much groove and feeling...he's a huge inspiration to me. Some of the single bass stuff he does is just incredible (everything up until Dance of Death was single bass).

Anyways, someone sent me guitarpro. Although I'm not a guitarist, I am a keyboard player, and it's been fun going through some ole Maiden tracks and trying to learn the guitar parts on piano. The intro to Hallowed Be Thy Name is a BITCH.
really? i don't play keyboard but i can play it

andyhainey 10-06-2005 11:42 AM

so guys, who is doin drums?

when did Bruce say that?

EdwardTheGreat 10-06-2005 12:08 PM
when did Bruce say that?
Cant remember, but he did say that. Maybe when he left, because he thought he wouldnt get any stick from Nicko as he wasnt in the band at that time?
And Weekend Warrior is overrated. I still think Childhoods End is a great song from that album, but no one seems to like it much. Its got a great intro to it.
when did Bruce say that?
Says it on the Early Days DVD if I remember correctly.

andyhainey 10-06-2005 12:14 PM

yes, it was the early days that he said it on, on the interveiw

crag 10-06-2005 12:17 PM
Says it on the Early Days DVD if I remember correctly.
are you sure, i thought i would remember something like that

andyhainey 10-06-2005 12:28 PM

well it was

the_uber_penguin 10-06-2005 01:32 PM

Says it in Run To The Hills too.

The Wicker Man is easy despite the insane bass drum work. I play along with it all the time and the only thing I Don't do the same is the bass drum, just because it's to hard for me to do.

Shattered_Future 10-06-2005 02:11 PM

I love The Wicker Man, period...I'm not a drummer. :p

Come to think of it, I should learn that on guitar...tis a bit easier than other Maiden songs.

twas the first Maiden song i learnt on guitar :D

scenesfromatheater 10-06-2005 02:37 PM

the vocals in the chorus are just awsome...you just cant help but sing along "YOUUURRRREEEE TIMMMMEEEEEE WIILLLLLL COMMMMEEEEE!!!" ....maybe

Josh 10-06-2005 02:39 PM

the wicker man is great, but i prefer the live version to the studio, the Whoa-oh-oh-oh bit sounds a bit cheesy IMO on the studio version.

most Maiden songs sound better live IMO

definitely. and they're even better when you're in the crowd.

i'll be in the crowd one day

assuming they come to Glasgow

Josh 10-06-2005 02:44 PM

lol. next tour is going to be '07 i think, apparently they're taking a year off after the next album.

hopefully, Bruce will do a solo tour between times though.

scenesfromatheater 10-06-2005 02:55 PM

I was suprised when I heard Bruces solo stuff, it reminded me a lot of Trivium...with awsome Brucey vocals though. Abduction is an awsome song

Lord Abortion 10-06-2005 04:18 PM

Steve said that Nicko was more technically skilled, but Clive had "an incredible feel"

Nicko has his own style. He's all around amazing, he's absaloutly stunning. Clive wasn't any of this, but he was still also good. Hell Clive was an awesome drummer, but he didn't seem to stick out like Nick does.

Deth 10-06-2005 07:20 PM

Nicko's a monster.

See: Where Eagles Dare

the_uber_penguin 10-07-2005 03:02 AM

My band cover The Wicker Man. It's really wierd because we normally do punk rock...I changed the pre-choruses though.

You watch the world exploding everysingle night
Dancing in the sun a newborn in the light
Say goodbye to gravity and say goodbye to death
Hello to eternity and live for every breath

You watch the world exploding everysingle night
Dancing in the sun a newborn in the light
Brothers and their fathers joining hands to make a chain
The shadow of the wicker man is rising up again

Becomes:

You watch the Ducklings* playing every single night
The greatest punk rock band to ever see the stage lights
Say goodbye to rubbish bands and say goodbye to pop
With George** on our side, we're gonna hit the top

You watch the Ducklings* playing every single night
The greatest punk rock band to ever see the stage lights
We're online at Suicidal Ducklings dot TK
Log on to the website when you get home today

* Ducklings=Suicidal Ducklings, my band
** George=Our mascot. A kind of aquauatic Eddie.

It's lots of fun, and really shameless.
