ATM 08-17-2005 08:41 PM

I organized bass strings at work all day.
I hate dentist music. Hey, I'm having cold steel instruments shoved intrusively into my mouth, why not throw on some Phil Collins and Celine Dion to fulfill the experience??
Exactly. On a happier note I got a nicer bari sax from my band teacher to practice on until jazz band tryouts. Its pretty old and beat up, but its better than my old one. If I make the band I get a $7000 bari that was donated to the school.

ATM 08-17-2005 08:49 PM

I played an accordion today. That was fun.

Daniel! 08-17-2005 08:53 PM

I played(squeaked) on my friends oboe.

Wonderful. Baritone saxophone is a really neat instrument.

ZEROthirtythree 08-17-2005 08:56 PM

I wish I could afford a saxaphone.

masada 08-17-2005 08:56 PM

The jazz band I'm "trying out" for doesn't even know what they're going to play, which kind of sucks for me. Stupid unorginized, low-budget schooling.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to play the oboe well.

Why should they already know? Every band goes through a period of trying on different pieces.

Bari Sax is sweet. I played it in band for awhile, but I missed my alto alot, so they got another girl to play it.

Happymeal 08-17-2005 09:17 PM

Today's WYD(World Youth Week, technically) activities went better than I thought. Hooray for social interactions.

Hep Kat 08-17-2005 09:20 PM

social interactions bah thats as bad as childhood (obviously this is sarcasm.....or not?)

Happymeal 08-17-2005 09:25 PM

No, I honestly enjoyed it.

Daniel! 08-17-2005 09:33 PM

The crowning moment of my bari career was when I taught myself the bassline to "Chamaeleon."

Im going into a pretty hardcore band. For the past 5 or something years Downbeat magazine called us the best middle school jazz band in the nation and they win pretty much all the festivals they go to. Our bands main goal every year though is to win the Reno Jazz Festival.

masada 08-17-2005 09:40 PM

Supposedly, our jazz band is supposed to be leaning more towards improvisation more so than sight-reading.

Zmev 08-17-2005 10:06 PM

Improv is always fun.

Zappa 08-17-2005 10:06 PM

Zach?

Zmev 08-17-2005 10:08 PM

Yes, Zmev is no longer with us.

I went to Gigantour today. It has nothing to do with Alt/Indie music, but man is Dillinger Escape Plan insane. Some kid a few rows behind me was flipping off the incredibly intense singer, so the guy just stared daggers into him! He was singing the whole song looking straight into the crowd without blinking, and I thought he was mad at me :( :(

I'm scared.

Changing your name is silly. Just make a new account.

It would have been more intense if he had a seizure.

Zappa 08-18-2005 12:01 AM

They're not Joy Division.

JonM 08-18-2005 09:30 AM
JonM better log back on. I didn't download limewire, then download the program, and then upload it on yousendit, for myself. I don't even use a mac.
Dude, thank you so much for doing that, but I tried for hours and couldn't make any use of it. It's a PC program, and you have to run it on a PC that's plugged into the computer you're trying to fix, and I couldn't get the PC to recognize that it was plugged in no matter what I tried.

But still, thank you so much for trying. It gave me a long burst of hope.

I almost got to see that show.

Ah, well, I still have my Alice Cooper show in October
