Have any of you guys heard:
666 The Number One Beast : A Tribute to Iron Maiden? |
Nope. Is it any good?
|
Yeah, it's pretty good.
All the songs are covered by Steve Overland Steve Grimmett Paul Di'Anno Doogie White Paul Di'Anno's Killers Gary Barden Bernie Shaw |
Nicko > Travis Barker > All other drummers.
You're saying that Travis Barker is the second-best drummer in the world? Are you KIDDING me? Just because he's the most talented member of Blink 182 (of all bands) doesn't mean that he's awesome. I'll agree that Nicko is near the top but there are so many more talented drummers than Travis fucking Barker. |

Travis has amazing stick speed and accuracy and a very distictive style, which would make many a drummer very jealous. I'm told by someone who knows a heck of a lot more about this then me, that Travis' speed and accuracy are more or less unrivalled...I put Nicko ahead of him because he's not far behind on speed or accuracy, but he has a more distintive style, and isn't leant on so much to make the song special. |
Nicko > Neil Peart > all others
Dream Theaters drummer? Surely he's second to Nicko? And does anyone know of any bassists who have more 'fun' stuff to play than Steve Harris? I just get idiots asking me for 'fun' bass lines, and Steve is the only person I can say. |
Neal Peart of Rush
Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater-he is incredibly technically skilled. |

Seriously, Tim Alexander from Primus kicks Travis' skinny tattooed ass, and he's not even the most distinctive member of that band! Danny Carey, Vinnie Paul, Dave Lombardo, Jon Theodore, Nick Menza, Alex Van Halen... they're all far above Travis Barker's abilities. And I didn't even mention any death metal drummers! |
...and Mike Portnoy...

see! |
Let's not fight...we can all at least agree Nicko is the best. Also Travis Barker is really good, I'm not sure if you could compare him to some of the people mentioned here, as they play different styles, but surely if Travis played in a metal band he could easily be up in the top with guys like Nicko.

No, he wouldn't. I'm not sure this is getting through to anyone: Travis Barker is not that great! If he wants to start a band, it should be with Cliff Burton and Kurt Cobain and they could call themselves The Overrated. |
And Maynard James Keenan can sing!
/hopes no Tool fanboys read this. |
best songs ever from maiden = weekend warrior, bring your daughter...to the slaughter, holy smoke, thin line between love and hate and the unbeliever, that girl
|
Wow, that's a really weird list. What albums have you heard?
|
Clive Burr > Nicko McBrain
...Just my opinion. Maiden's early drumming stuff ("Phantom of the Opera," "Killers," "The Prisoner" etc.) just seems more complex. |
I take it you're not a drummer? :D
"The Wicker Man" is one of the greatest metal drum tracks of all time. McBrain plays with so much groove and feeling...he's a huge inspiration to me. Some of the single bass stuff he does is just incredible (everything up until Dance of Death was single bass). Anyways, someone sent me guitarpro. Although I'm not a guitarist, I am a keyboard player, and it's been fun going through some ole Maiden tracks and trying to learn the guitar parts on piano. The intro to Hallowed Be Thy Name is a BITCH. |

That is an odd list...good to see X-factor prescence though Is "that girl" a B side? NP- total eclipse. |
Every time I hear There's A Thin Line Between Love And Hate, the chorus (I will hope my soul will fly, and I can live forEVER!) always reminds me of the Titanic theme song.
I have no idea why, apart from the melody is slightly similar and (scarily) about the same pitch. |
Ugh, I don't think Weekend Warrior is all that great. :-/
