What do you Minus the Bear proves cool kids can make great music?
One of them is an ex hardcore kid.
Their songs are mostly about parties, hanging out, and having fun. Or skinny dipping ;) |

Duke Ellington - Ellington Uptown
As you may have read in the Community Thread, I just picked this 1953 release on vinyl today. It's one of the best jazz albums I've ever heard. Oh my goodness. |
Robert Pollard - From A Compound Eye
His first solo album post-GBV. It's a glorious 26 songs, 1 hr 10 minute behemoth. This is Pollard at his most creative and diverse. You can hear his range of sounds - from the lo-fi pop tricks to the psychedelia tinged rock anthems. A great album. |
Really Red - Teaching You the Fear
Bread and Roses - s/t The Dicks - Kill from the Heart Good Clean Fun - Straight Outta Hardcore Crucifu'cks - Our Will Be Done Yeah so i've been revisiting my old hardcore obsession. And Bread and Roses, which is some sweet folk punk. |
rockets and blue lights
awesome band, i dont' know much about them but there's a thread on them in the emo forum really great |
Listening to Clouds Taste Metallic now, seems pretty good.

Linda Perhacs
I like it. |
It was a pretty pretty Decemberists day, with a touch of Baby Huey (props to Bartender) and sprinkles of Marvin Gaye.

And Bread and Roses, which is some sweet folk punk.
I approve of everything there. The Dicks are brilliant. One of my top 10 80s hardcore bands. Bread and Roses are fantastic and that album is great (especially Bedtime for Plutocracy). GCF are sweet. I'm seeing them in less than 12 hours. Really Red are another great 80s hardcore band. The Crucif'ucks have the best band name in the history of ever and also make good music. The Saviour is my favourite song on that album. |
Interpol - Antics
Telefon Tel Aviv - Fahrenheit Fair Enough |
Recently I've been listening to stuff like Estradasphere, Luminescent Orchestrii, Mischief Brew, Gogol Bordello...
I made a list of a bit over 100 bands that I really like. I'm now going to go through that list and listen to one CD from each band. Some of them that I put on the list I really haven't listened to in quite awhile, so now it's time to refresh my memory of why I like it so much. Right now I'm listening to aphex twin - Richard D James Album. I don't think I've ever listened to aphex twin as just a solid album, or if I did I wasn't really paying attention. I'm really enjoying it, though. |
Butthole Surfers - Locust Abortion Technician
Seriously, this is possibly the most insane, and crazy album that I have ever heard. |
Butthole Surfers - Locust Abortion Technician
Seriously, this is possibly the most insane, and crazy album that I have ever heard.
Just wait till you hear Psychic...Powerless...Another Man's Sac. |
Gogol Bordello
Same here. Along with Against Me! and Defiance, Ohio. Basically it's asdf day. |
Bob Log III - Trike
Spoon - Gimme Fiction Calexico - A Feast Of Wire Quasimoto - The Unseen Annie - Anniemal Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway A combination of wacky and serious stuff. Calexico is in heavy rotation, these days. Such a marvelous band. |
Oh yeah, and Timesbold - Eye Eye too.
|
Same here.

World/Inferno Friendship Society
Defiance, Ohio Ghost Mice Lots and lots of Mischief Brew/Erik Petersen Against Me! |
I've been digging the Arctic Monkeys record.
 |
Deerhoof - The Runners Four
This is their best album, it truly is. Can't wait to see them, it'll be crraazzzyyy. Division of Laura Lee Pulled out everything I had of theirs (3 albums) yesterday and I've made it through all of them, with Das Not Compute being played twice. Such a good, no nonsense band. |
Chick Corea - Inner Space
|
World/Inferno Friendship Society
Defiance, Ohio Ghost Mice Lots and lots of Mischief Brew/Erik Petersen Against Me!
Not a bad band there. I'm seeing AM! in March and GM in June. Hopefully the others'll tour the UK as well at some point in the near future. |
John Coltrane - Crescent
this is some decent homework music. it's a more easier listen than alot of his other stuff. after it's done i got some dub stuff comng up. Jah Division - Dub Will Tear Us Apart dub covers of Heart and Soul, Transmission, Disorder and Love Will Tear Us Apart. Really good stuff. |
World/Inferno Friendship Society
Defiance, Ohio Ghost Mice Lots and lots of Mischief Brew/Erik Petersen Against Me!
Add some Gogol Bordello. Gypsy punk produced by Steve Albini. |
Little Barrie - We Are Little Barrie
Sooo good. |
Ghost Mice
I've also been on a Ghost Mice kick lately. Such good music, but such a huge chunk is so depressing. |
Infected Mushroom
and Lightning Bolt Two bands that make repetiveness sound really really good. |
Six albums I ordered arrived a few days ago, so I've been heavily digging these:
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones Tom Waits - Bone Machine Massive Attack - Blue Lines Eminem - The Slim Shady LP Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left The Raveonettes - Chain Gang of Love All really, really great.
what are your slsk names?
My slsk name is the same as on here. I probably won't be able to download for a few days, but when I can, thanks. |
