I disagree. Yes, he does do show off solos, but when he wants to he can do some very tasteful solos, and riffs. His solo at the end of Octavarium is incredable (not in a technical way).
The spirit carries on has a very good one too.

Kudos to you, Iron Maiden, for being the only metal band as funny as Spinal Tap.

Their not as funny as Spinal Tap, as their not as stupid. I was suprised to find Bruce speaking fluent French :/

I forgot about that one, and it's one of my favorites too.

Btw, Blind Guardian gets a big \m/.

Well i just had one of the most fun conversations of my life...

'why did you decide to snog someone else the other night?'

Yeah, it was good fun...

no they aren't, what makes you make such an ill- informed judgement?

RiceMonster 06-26-2005 02:11 PM

Oh man, I love Spinal Tap. My favorite part is the AC/DC part when he goes on his back and the roadie comes and spins him around.
no they aren't, what makes you make such an ill- informed judgement?
Oh boy, here we go again. I'm not going to get into this because the same reasons why I find them funny are most likely the same reasons you find them great.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-26-2005 02:12 PM

About Labrie- I think his voice would better compliment Dream Theater if he put more of his operatic training to use. He seems like the weakest link out of the 5 virtuosos to me. :-/

Ray- Congrats :confetti:

Rob- Have you talked to that girl yet?

Hey dudes!!! I just found out that I"m going to New Orleans for a few days. Anyone live down there?

Ok- that seems a sensible way to avoid an argument and therefore, spam- good plan :)

Yes it is...and for the sake of diplomacy I don't think I'll ever mention it when Iron Maiden comes up, because both of us are fairly biased when it comes to them.

I haven't heard nearly enough metal to pass judgement; I've heard a lot of what I hope are dumbed-down metal bands - Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, all that kind of stuff. The way I see it maybe if I delve deeper into metal I can find some stuff that's pretty cool.

Well, it was on TV over 25 years ago so I don't blame you for not knowing it
"On the mic I straight meditate like a Buddhist"
Some say "no" to drugs, take a stand, but after the show they go runnin' to the dope man (dope man!)
Or they ban my group from the radio, hear "NWA" and say "Hell no!"
But you know it ain't all about wealth, as long as you make a note to...

I love Slayer (top 5 for sure)

Are you serious? I hate the solo section of that song, and most Slayer solos for that part. The riffs can be cool every now and then, but the solos are awful IMO.

Illmatic 06-26-2005 03:06 PM
*"I get straight and meditate like a buddhist

Blame it on Ice Cube, 'cause he said it gets funky when you got a subject and a predicate
Add it on a dope beat, and it'll make ya think
some suckas just tickle me pink to my stomach
'cause they can't flow like this one
you know what? I won't hesitate to diss one or two before I'm through so don't try to sing this,
some drop science, well I'm droppin' English
Even if Yella makes it a capella
I still express yo I don't smoke weed or cess
'cause it's known to give a brotha brain damage
and brain damage on the mic don't manage nothin'
but makin' the sucka in you equal,
don't be another sequel...
Express yourself!

What a weird song. I mean, it's a great song but it's so out of place on that album.
