I've never actually listened to much Minutemen.
Where should I start? How much material do they have?
Boatloads. They were a pretty weird little group but their shit was intense. their earlier stuff (What Makes a Man Start Fires?, Buzz or Howl Under the Influence of Heat, etc.) was often short, fast and devoid of guitar solos, choruses, or anything typically conventional in songwriting. But if you're looking for a more or less magnum opus Double Nickels on the Dime is often considered their best work. Might be an acquired taste - it was a bit for me... the genres tend to change up quite a bit on the record so that's neat. Plus the whole 43/45 song tracklist (depending which album you find) was pretty tough to wrap my head around at first, but man they're a wicked band. Project Mersh has another good selection of Minutemen tunes. it was purposely more commercial-sounding so it's got some really radio-friendlyish stuff on it, more conventional sounding music. but yeah. Another good one is a compilation of sorts which is a bit tougher to find, Introducing the Minutemen. It's a sum of more or less their whole career. but as I said earlier, if you get Double Nickels that can pretty much sum up whether or not you'd be interested into further pursuing the group's discog. Fatbandit, what's SotC? LSF, I dig the name. Never listened to too much of their stuff but they're pretty wild, I think they played Coachella the year I went? |
Sweet. I'll definitely start with that album.

Doing physics homework. Whee!

Well, start enabling yourself to do so.

the thought of even taking physics scares me i hear thats a hardass class.

311 was nuts yesterday. P-nut did a pretty wicked bass solo, he's rapidly becoming one of my favorite bassists today.

I wasn't impressed with the latest 311 album, at least compared to their earlier work. Glad to know they still kick *** live though. |
Laid down the first layer of paint on my test pedal. Guess we'll see how this one turns out. Aiming for a high gloss white.

If I got a Fender Jaguar and wanted it repainted, how much would it approx. cost? I want it painted Lake Placid blue (or a comporable color) and the version of the Jaguar I want only comes in olympic white and 3 tone sunburst.
Also, should I get it in 3 tone sunburst or olympic white? As in, which would be cheaper to paint over? Thanks. |
not sure if srs?
colour wouldn't matter as you'd most likely strip it back to bare wood before refinishing. and idk about cost. do it yourself, and just materials and your time. take it to a professional and expect to pay for a professional service. |

Thanks.
If you're painting a solid color, neither finish matters - they'll both have a poly finish on them and solid finishes are very easy to apply. Neither will be cheaper, and here in the U.S., you're looking at $300 or so. You might be able to cut down on the price if you do the prep work yourself (ie, use 220-grit sandpaper to take off the gloss and mask stuff off) and know somebody with an auto body shop. However, auto paint is still expensive, and you're looking at $100+ for the paint alone. |
We had a killer show on Saturday.

Best not to dwell on the lack of money at original gigs.
