Bah, you all have fancy rigs.

Mine is the pinnacle of cheapness;

Squire P-Bass -> Vamp pro -> PC

and

Vintage VS6 (SG copy in laymans terms) -> Digitech Deathmetal distortion (If the song needs that 'OMG that tone is so heavy and digital it makes everyone cry' effect, but I don't use it much) -> Vamp Pro -> PC

I'm only after upgrading my Bass atm, I'm after a Fender Precision Bass, maybe a '76 (I think that's what Harris uses) and then I'll upgrade the pickups in my Vintage, since they're the only things letting it down, everything else about it is perfect, it's better then a Mex Strat IMO.

Deth 02-15-2006 10:57 AM

I've never wanted a p-bass. They always sound so one-dimensional.

I love my Spector though.

ashman 02-15-2006 11:05 AM

I love the P-Basses tone, Harris has more or less the tone that I want, so it's perfect for me :p

Deth 02-15-2006 11:12 AM

I play stuff other than Maiden, so it's not the best thing for me. Plus, the trebly tone is irritating alone.

As everyone should know, the Poem Bruce reads at the start of Paschendale on the DOD tour and on the DOTR album/DVD is Anthem for doomed youth by Wilfred Owen.

He's a superb and moving First world war poet, Dying 6 days before Armistice day in 1918, while crossing a river towards German forces on the other bank under heavy fire.

Read about him here

English Coursework? :p

Yeah I heard about that guy, sucks that he died before the treaty.

the_uber_penguin 02-16-2006 08:40 AM

Wilfred Owen was very inspired by Siegfried Sassoon, who´s poem "Suicide In The Trenches" I turned into an Iron Maiden-y punk rock tune.

I´ll upload it when I get back home in a few days.

ooo, i have a gig with my band on 12th March, the other bands are all Emo and the majority of the crowd will be Emo's. Naturally i'll be buying a Maiden shirt to wear at the gig:cool:

ashman 02-17-2006 11:38 AM

It's good to know the Legions of Maiden wear the right uniform...

Shame I'm wearing a Soulfracture T-Shirt though :upset:

vashts80 02-17-2006 02:06 PM
I don't really see the difference (note the fact I haven't played those many guitars either) of using "more metal" guitars over Fenders, which are usually thought for Rock.

I mean... Maiden uses them. amirite

that's gotta account for sumfin
Cryptopsy use them too :D

DOTR wins. I've took my Dunlop strap and Harris-ized it by adding foam and putting a sock around it. It wins.

/Wears Live after death shirt

the_uber_penguin 02-17-2006 06:35 PM

I don't get band t-shirts (unless it's the one for the tour I saw them on).

I remember I used to love Blink 182, and then I bought the T-shirt, then I stopped liking so much.

I don't want that to happen to Maiden. Therefore, the only Iron Maiden T-shirt I own is the the Reading Festival 2005 T-shirt with their name on it, because I saw them there :D

classicrockman 02-17-2006 10:53 PM

I've got a sweet Iron Maiden 'Killer's' tee and an Iron Maiden wristband.

-The Frank 02-17-2006 11:01 PM

Like The_uber_penguin i usually only buy band t-shirts at gigs that i have been to. But iron maiden is an excpetion, i have this cool piece of mind t-shirt in black in white. :thumb:

Lupus 02-18-2006 03:34 AM

I have a Killers back patch sewn onto my jumper. I wear it all the time and never really feel out of place.

ashman 02-18-2006 03:51 AM

I've got a Trooper t-shirt, Can I play with Madness, Number of the Beast, Maiden Japan, Best of the B-sides t-shirt and I think I've got another one somewhere :p

I used to have a Number of the Beast t-shirt when I was like 7

/youthful metalhead :p

Mother 02-18-2006 04:15 AM

I got a "brave new world" T-Shirt somewhere.
I got a "brave new world" T-Shirt somewhere.
Those are cool, I wanted one of thems, but I could never find one.

I'm just learning Infinite Dreams on Bass and it is by far the hardest Maiden song I know, but it's bloody ace to play, everyone here who plays bass should learn it...NAU!

crag 02-18-2006 06:51 AM

by hardest song do you mean, hardest song on bass or hardest song period?

It's far from being the hardest Maiden song on bass though...

Some of the bass fills in Sanctuary scare me.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-18-2006 08:35 AM

I came really close to getting a Killers shirt, but I opted for and AC/DC one instead.

They just look scary, well the ones in my tab do. There's only a few quick position changes and it tends to keep around the same 'fingering positions'.

What songs are harder then Infinite Dreams?
by hardest song do you mean, hardest song on bass or hardest song period?
The guitars are quite easy-ish, but I'd put it in the middle in terms of difficulty for guitar, but the Bass is tricky.

i've always found Transylvania hard on bass.
