Kirk's Puppet 08-13-2006 04:00 AM

I got a Ghost Reveries hoodie yesterday!!

GR = My fave Opeth album.

Thor 08-13-2006 09:26 AM

My Opeth shirt that I have is a Ghost Reveries one, even though it's one of the albums I listen to the least. It just looks so cool. :)

the2stranger 08-13-2006 09:28 AM

Which GR shirt do you have Thor?
I have the one with the icons on the back and the candles on the front.
I also have a BWP shirt.

Txus 08-13-2006 09:35 AM

I have the shirt with the classic logo in front and the bands pic on the back. I need to buy some more, that shirt is getting old :(

Spoonful of Shame 08-13-2006 09:48 AM

I have the Ghost Reveries shirt and the Ghost of Perdition shirt. \m/

Kronos 08-13-2006 10:03 AM

I've got - Ghost Reveries Tour 2005 shirt, Deliverence T, "Year of Our Lord 2003" Longsleeve and Deliverence Long sleeve. I really want a Damnation T or Longsleeve, but they're hard to come by, and when they are available they seem to be dear.
I'll splash out soon tho'

Toaster 08-13-2006 10:14 AM

I have a Ghost Reveries shirt and a signed Lamentations shirt.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 10:15 AM

I want that too.

/holds shirt protectively close to bosom

I never wear it though. Never even washed it. It's hanging on my wall, actually. :p

the2stranger 08-13-2006 10:32 AM

Like a relic!
Cool that you have it though, How were the guys from Opeth when you met them?

Toaster 08-13-2006 10:37 AM

Very cool. We talked about the "new album" (GR), Mikeal was very proud of it. Mikael and Peter signed it.

Thor 08-13-2006 11:05 AM

Yeah I've heard that Mikael is incredibly nice to fans.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 11:06 AM

And would make a good stand-up comedian.

I just have that one as well. I want either BWP or the Still Life, Still Death one.

UpperDecker 08-13-2006 11:22 AM

Random Fact: I use to almost hate The Grand Conjuration, i thought it was boring, repetitive, and just musicianship. I don't know why but i really like the song now. Its more of a song just to jam out to than to just relax and enjoy it (imo).

the2stranger 08-13-2006 11:24 AM

Whole of GR is still avarage to me. :-\

Darkness 08-13-2006 11:47 AM

Cool, I have a signed GR shirt from Mikael from when I met him.

I also have a setlist signed by the whole band, from the same time. :D

JamJar 08-13-2006 11:52 AM

I don't have any Opeth shirts. One of the only bands that I love without having a corresponding shirt. :(

Crysiss 08-13-2006 12:05 PM

I dont have any band shirts at all.

pate 08-13-2006 12:05 PM

I have maybe 10.

No, not that many. Let's see...7 or 8.

Crysiss 08-13-2006 12:06 PM

Opeth shirts? or just band shirts?

pate 08-13-2006 12:08 PM

Oh, sorry. Just band shirts. I have one Opeth shirt, working on getting another one.

Crysiss 08-13-2006 12:10 PM

Oh I see.... Ive always wanted an opeth shirt.

Fuck.. that is great!

I only have a Ghost Reveries shirt.
The one with the candles on it.

I'm having a dilemma though.. I can't seem to get into Orchid or Morningrise at all! I get so bored and the songwriting really shits me to tears.

Can someone give me directions at what to focus on and what makes you think these albums are fantastic(or at least good!)?
It's like I listen to these albums and I don't mind them, but, every other release is so much better..and also I'm thinking maybe I just don't 'get it' when it comes to those albums. :/

Crysiss 08-13-2006 12:35 PM

Its pretty much just an assortment of cool parts for me.

JamJar 08-13-2006 02:08 PM

You just said pretty much word for word what I'd say about those two albums.

AA-12 08-13-2006 02:10 PM

I'd like to see Overkill, Lamb of God, Opeth, and Megadeth. Other than that it sucks though.

They're more "progressive" than Opeth's other albums. The shifts in timing and tictures are much more abrupt and dramatic. I guess what makes it good in my eyes is that, unlike later Opeth, the songs are less predictable. Every song is packed full of great moments and melodies and you never know where a song will go. The acoustic parts especially make the albums for me. I can't really talk you into liking it, you'll just have to give it time yourself. Orchid is my favorite Opeth album.

I used to really like it, but now I can't even listen to it.

Jude 08-13-2006 03:41 PM

I only have the Blackwater Park shirt, with the album cover on front and the band picture on the back. It's pretty sweet, but too small. Better too small than too large though.

I agree with you completely.

I'd go with My Arms, Your Hearse or Still Life as my favorite though :D.

More structure than the first two, less predictability then the later ones.

Shattered_Future 08-13-2006 04:12 PM

I love my Still Life tee. :D

I got one other from their '06 tour too...

And I have come to the conclusion that To Bid You Farewell is one of the most emotionally moving songs ever. It's absolutely stunning.

Mikedrummer 08-13-2006 04:16 PM

opeth sucks

i am the robots 08-13-2006 04:18 PM

Yeah it is.

I know this is horrid blasphemy, but me and my friends always used to get high and freestyle rap over the intro of To Bid You Farewell on the way home from school.
opeth sucks
lol troll

Morningrise has really long songs on it so that might be why? Really long for Opeth so you know they are LLOOOOONNNNNGGGG. So maybe thats why? Orchid I have never heard though so I cant help you with that.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 05:28 PM

Long songs are the best, more yumminess.

Not "really long for Opeth"... the only longer than average song on Morningrise is Black Rose Immortal...

Hahahahahahah

I can just imagine the lyrical genius flowing forth from a bunch of stoned white boys from a small town in PA!

i am the robots 08-13-2006 08:15 PM

Hahaha, it was just fun, nothing too serious... we were all extremely bad... I can make stuff up as I go along screaming, but I can't rap for all it's worth.
