Does anyone else really really dislike The Clash?
Does anyone else really really dislike The Clash?
i could live without them. American punk > British punk

br3ad_man 01-25-2006 08:39 PM

Well, now I feel slightly more normal.

I've been listening to:

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Sufjan - Illinois
Trophy Scars - Hospital Music

All I need is Rock The Casbah and I could be happy for a long time.

Tangy zizzle 01-25-2006 08:43 PM
if they were bigger then you wouldnt like them as much "meh, ive heard em enough times."
My favourite artists are as follows:

Queens of the Stone Age
Weezer
The Stooges
Black Sabbath
Sublime
Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals
Wilco
Hot Snakes
Nick cave & the Bad Seeds
Bob Dylan

With the exception of Hot Snakes, I'd say that my favourite bands (ie bands I love a whooole lot) are all pretty popular/well known. I've never snubbed a band because of their status or stopped liking them because of their popularity. So get fucked :)

Hm. So like everyone else I heard some mild comments about Sufjan in late '04 early '05. I checked out Illinois, and over the summer I liked it alot. But it sucks now, and I find Seven Swans to be his better album. It's shorter, it's more concise and it just seems like he cared more. Make sure you check it out bread.

Tangy zizzle 01-25-2006 08:47 PM

Huh?

Tangy zizzle 01-25-2006 08:54 PM

I looked. I like Envy and Hot Cross, so I'll say... no, I don't really like Level plane.

i know you like a lot of popular bands, but there can be too much of a good thing. i thought SOAD's Mezmerize was one of the strongest albums of their career, but I got sick of hearing BYOB on the radio all the time too.

maybe its just the annoying pauses for the radio editing though.

Tangy zizzle 01-25-2006 08:59 PM

If it's good, I don't really get sick of it.

JonM 01-25-2006 09:00 PM

Just wanted to get the 13,000th post in here ;)

I, uh, dig things. I dig reggae a lot.

Yeah, Seven Swans is definitely better. I dig Illinois more now because on iTunes I have two names for the album:

Illinois
Illinois (actual songs)

The second one has all of the annoying filler removed and makes a really solid album. If he had cut it down to 11 tracks, it would have been in the top 10 of the year.

I'm going to take a nap to Laughing Stock

Daniel! 01-25-2006 11:02 PM

Erik Petersen/Robert Blake - Bellingham & Philidelphia
Captain Chaos - Captain Chaos

That Captain Chaos album is fun.

YDload 01-26-2006 12:13 AM

Dillinger Escape Plan- Calculating Infinity

I shouldn't have listened to this right before bed. My head's still ringing and I think that angry man is coming to get me :(

Zmev 01-26-2006 12:32 AM

Big Black - The Hammer Party

rbv 01-26-2006 12:55 AM

I really like The Microphones - Song Islands.

I'm really surpised though because I thought it was a post-unicorns side project but when I found out that it had nothing to do with them I was like wow. Phil Evrum sounds a lot like the Unicorns.

Jake is Legend 01-26-2006 04:42 AM

The Stiletto Formal
The sounds of animals fighting
Fight Paris
He is Legend

I Was A Kaleidoscope 01-26-2006 06:52 AM

Of Montreal - Satanic Panic In The Attic
Jackson And His Computer Band - Smash
Lo-Tel - Planet Of The Stereos
A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step
The Locust - Plague Soundscapes

Tomahawk 01-26-2006 08:39 AM
You can listen to it on their myspace, if you just want to hear it.

Sweet, thanks.

That's pretty great. Not brilliant, but definitely worth me looking forward to the album.

sketchyjoe 01-26-2006 11:15 AM

I've been listening to a lot of Johnny Hobo.

guitarded_chuck 01-26-2006 02:09 PM

I've been listening to a lot of The Stooges and The Velvet Underground lately.

Kyle 01-26-2006 02:22 PM
Does anyone else really really dislike The Clash?
Beyond their big hits, I think The Clash have some really great songs. Although I get easilly bored with 'Should I Stay or Should' I go' and 'Londons Calling', Songs like 'Jimmy Jazz' and 'Complete Control' are really fun. I've been diggin their live album 'From Here To Eternity' recently, it brings all the not so good tracks to life.

More like aural crushing.

The NPC 01-26-2006 03:52 PM
NPC's would all just say "this band sucks because they're crappy;" Mine would all be "this band sucks because they make passionless music for the sake of being weird;" Nacho's would all be "this band sucks because they're derivative and idiotic."
You forgot the all important "this band sucks massive balls and thus they suck" statement thingy that I like tossing into the mix every so often. On a serious note, however; I think I will review albums from crap artists and post them on Sputniky. I could start with Stfu Steven's craptacular classic Illisucks.

I'd actually really like you to do that - but you must realize, you do have to listen to it. So, you might rethink it.

Cocteau Twins - Head Over Heels
Goldmund - Corduroy Road
Crispy Ambulance - The Plateau Phase

I can deal with listening to them, infact, it would make things even better. I'd have more to rant on about and diss on. This could be fun, hmmm.
