Who are they?
a bunch of guys who aren't really good at anything. |
I've been digging the Pokemon theme song lately, along with the Poke Rap and "Pikachu Rap".
|
Nope.
You should check out Neon Golden. Lali Puna is the side project of several of Notwist's members, if I recall correclty. You can grab it from me if you like, but many others have it.

WHOA! I just downloaded Yhä Hämärää by Paavoharju because I saw it on someone's slsk list and thought it sounded funny and interesting (I had no idea who the artist was), and it's really very interesting. I'm not sure how many listens I'll get out of it, but I'm glad I'm giving it one at the moment.
They're Finnish, and they're born-again Christians, whatever that means in this particular instance. For more information, I refer you to the Pitchfork review, which seems accurate so far. |
I'll give that a try ^^
|
I remember listening to Paavoharju like a year ago.

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs

Do Make Say Think - & Yet & Yet
|
That's a cool record. They've made a couple cool records.
|
Yea I like that album as well. It's nice to study to.
|
I write too it.
It's cool. Today.. Blonde Redhead - In An Expression of The Inexpressiable Cursive - Happy Hollow (really big grower) |
I'll give Happy Hollow another spin. Is there something I'm missing?
|
Pink Floyd - Meddle
The only thing wrong with this is Echoes. What a snoozefest. |
The Bronx - The Bronx
Good call. For me it's that along with Hot Snakes - Audit In Progress and The Cribs - The New Fellas. |
I'll give Happy Hollow another spin. Is there something I'm missing?
It's catchy as a mother ****er. Plus listen to it and don't think it's Cursive. |
I can't do that.
|
Caetano Veloso and Mantronix.
|
I love that album so much. Eddie Hazel is a god.
|
Red House Painters - Red House Painters I - I'm starting to think this album may be in my top ten favourite ever albums. (As of right now anyway).
The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen |
The Microphones- Window
do you guys here listen to them? |
The Microphones- Window
do you guys here listen to them?
Yeah. Mt Eerie is the only thing I've heard by them though. It lives up to it's name. |
medic on Soulseek, Nacho. Send a message first, though. Userlist only.
|
Yeah. Mt Eerie is the only thing I've heard by them though. It lives up to it's name.
After that album, Phil Evlrum changed the name of the band to MT. Eerie and changed the sound to sound exatcly like that album. I like their older stuff better. |
Phil Elvrum is one of those dudes that will always be in my heart, even if he does release the worst album ever.
|
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
|
Wilco- Summerteeth
Circulatory System- Circulatory System |
Feelies. I haven't been to the music store in a while, thought I'd check in. Found a used copy of Crazy Rhythms, $6. Been looking for this for ages. Good stuff.
|
Neon Golden by the Notwist is remarkably mediocre.
|
Well okay then.
|
Yeah. But Anton Fier. Is any of the Golden Palominos stuff worth checking out?
|
Well okay then.
Sorry, that was a little harsh. I can see a lot of good in it, but the melodies just don't hold up for me. When they incorporate the acoustic instruments the arrangements become quite rich and interesting, but a lot of the blander electronic accompaniments paired with hum-drum vocals make for nothing too exciting. It's all fairly pleasant, and now and again pretty enjoyable, but nothing I can see myself listening to much in the future. |
the first track from Boris - Pink is pretty awesome. now I just need to get the rest of it.
other than that, I've been diggin': Cerberus Shoal - a couple different albums The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair The Coral - Invisible Invasion Acid Bath - Paegan Terrorism Tactics |
do any of you listen to some good local indie bands i can think of a couple in my town im just looking for more stuff thats out there so just post a link to soemthing if u know of one
|
Starlight Mints - Dream That Stuff Was Made Of
|
Loose Fur - Born Again In The USA
Seems really mediocre on the first spin. Maybe I'm missing something. Final Fantasy - Has A Good Home This is great, though. I need to check out He Poos Clouds.
Great album. I wish the bulk of it lived up to the first two tracks, but that'd be a pretty tall order.
The whole thing is a classic. |

i'll list some good ones: Panic in the Streets: these guys actually broke up in january, but they were amazing and went on to start another great band i'll list in a second. they sound kind of like Sonic Youth + At the Drive-In. http://www.myspace.com/panicinthestreets Lanterns: Panic in the Streets started this band after their singer left, they added another guitarist and changed their single-vocal driven poppy sound into a more noisey sound with gang-chanted vocals. like PitS was, but more fuzzy, punky, and experimental. http://www.myspace.com/wearelanterns Meneguar: These guys aren't local, they're actually across the country from me, but i love 'em. http://www.myspace.com/meneguar The F'ucking Buckaroos: these guys aren't local either, they're up north of me in San Francisco, but they're my friend's older brother's band. they are like crazy folk-bluegrass-punk. http://www.myspace.com/thefuckinbuckaroos (copy/paste the link) Silver Sunshine: these guys have that psychedelic Beatles-ish sound that lots of bands on E6 have, but they're not on E6. they play a lot of shows with Dungen though. http://www.myspace.com/silversunshine War and Cinema: post-rock band with 2 female singers. very pretty sound. http://www.myspace.com/warandcinema Mere Woods: instrumental punk, like Drive Like Jehu without vocals. very cool guitar playing. http://www.myspace.com/merewoods Super Mega Terror: one of the few humor-metal bands that is actually funny, mainly because they know what they're doing. the LOTR sound-clip at the beginning lets you know that they're tr00 metal. http://www.myspace.com/cactusiscool For the High Seas: ok, this is my ex-band. we broke up after spending 3 months recording our CD and then releasing it. a month later we split :(. we sounded kind of like My Bloody Valentine + The Arcade Fire + Flaming Lips, with a female singer.
