Changed user title and location because I can't get enough of "43% Burnt" by DEP. There's so much to listen to that it hurts my brain regardless of volume!

Mattfanatic 01-24-2006 05:09 PM

strangely that's my least favorite song off of that album, i have no idea why

Tangy zizzle 01-24-2006 05:49 PM

I've really, really been getting into Cat Power recently. i only ever had You Are Free but after listening to the Greatest (and frickin loved it) I've investigated further into her stuff. She's just fantastic.

Bob Dylan has become pretty much a reference point for how I look at most music. I've bought like 6 of his albums in the past couple weeks and I truly can't get enough of them.

Been listening to alot of Wires on Fire aswell. I'd say they're the band that sounds most like the style of music I wanna play. Well maybe if they more a bit more groove heavy. ****en awesome band. Ya'll should listen to the Homewrecker EP. It's solid gold.

Mischief Brew - Smash the Windows
Robert Blake/Erik Petersen - Bellingham & Philadelphia

Bellingham is easily the best work that I've heard Erik do.

Dog 01-24-2006 06:41 PM

Blood On The Wall - Awesomer

These guys are a lot of fun. Energetic act with boy-girl vocals. Similar to Pixies, Pavement, a dash of Yo La Tengo, and all that kind of stuff.

CrissyTeena 01-24-2006 08:25 PM

I have been completely obessed with:

Fourt Tet - smile around the face
Dogs die in Hot Cars - Lounger
Anything by Lemon Jelly or Air miami

and on a side note...how do people post new threads? are only administrators allowed to do that? Thanks!

JonM 01-24-2006 08:29 PM

You have to post a few times and then you can. It's not many. Like 10. At any rate, welcome. I see you like Four Tet. That's crunk.

I have been digging HAVING MY SPEAKERS CUZ I'M BACK AT SCHOOL!!! And through those speakers, I have been digging various Quannum Projects.

You have to wait twenty-four hours.
Sarah Blasko - The Overture & The Underscore
The Grates - The Ouch. The Touch.
Just bought those two.

My friend gave me some music by this band called God is an Astronaut. It's ok. The start of the song he showed me is nearly identical to 'A Warm Place' by Nine Inch Nails.

Doctor D. 01-25-2006 07:06 AM

I've been loooooooooving The Flaming Lips asoflate. I can't stop listening to "In a Priest Driven Ambulence" and the new single "W.A.N.D". Such a great band.

Tomahawk 01-25-2006 09:50 AM

I can't find WAND anywhere, and it's upsetting me.

I've been listening to The Mekons Rock n Roll today. That and Sleater-Kinney.

Interstate 01-25-2006 11:38 AM

Haven't listened to any music in the last two days or so, I listened to Anthony & The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now going to work on Friday and I'm convinced it's one of my favourites of 2005.

Bukowski 01-25-2006 01:53 PM

The Replacements - Tim
Bob Marley & the Wailers - Catch Fire
The Toasters - Ska Killers

The NPC 01-25-2006 02:04 PM

It's been a Yo La Tengo week.

Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica

Man, i love the drummer on this album so much. He's excellent. I'm debating what Beefheart album to get next, as i've only heard this + Ice Cream for Crow.

Zappa 01-25-2006 04:09 PM

You can listen to it on their myspace, if you just want to hear it.
Panic! At the Disco, unfortunately. I'm reviewing their album for the school newspaper and I posted the review on Sputnik, just to get back in the swing of things.
If you, NPC, Zappa and Tangy wrote reviews for every band you hated, we'd need a new forum.

Zappa 01-25-2006 06:05 PM

NPC's would all just say "this band sucks because they're crappy;" Mine would all be "this band sucks because they make passionless music for the sake of being weird;" Nacho's would all be "this band sucks because they're derivative and idiotic."

br3ad_man 01-25-2006 07:32 PM

and Tangy's would be "this band sucks because I don't like them"?

Tangy zizzle 01-25-2006 07:41 PM

Hey you, watch that mouth boy!

The Drones - Wait Long by the River & the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By

This is such a badass album. It goes from hardcore revved up Crazy Horse type rockers, to slow burning blues jams, to Birthday Party craziness to weird, delicate and mournful ballads. Why are they not bigger I ask? Why?

pixiesfanyo 01-25-2006 07:42 PM

School of the Flower.

yum, i love this on vinyl.

if they were bigger then you wouldnt like them as much "meh, ive heard em enough times."

br3ad_man 01-25-2006 08:17 PM
Hey you, watch that mouth boy!
I was feeling cheeky :p
Why are they not bigger I ask? Why?
Because it's impossible to find their cds anywhere?

NPC would get mad at a band for not being post punk enough.

Speaking of post punk, actually, I've been digging Gang Of Four's Entertainment! lately. Wicked album, recommended for fans of The Clash and/or Joy Division.
