Ender's Shadow is so much better than Ender's Game it's ridiculous.
The whole Bean deal is so much better, it's less about action and much more about politics and decisions. Ender's Game is like Tool, and Ender's Shadow is like TMV. |
also. gav's so scene it hurts.
I think you're thinking of Golden Dawn maybe?
hey you, you got a cigarrette man? you know i know you got one on you.
They play like indie with some experimentation I guess you could say. Just go see them.
hmm. maybe i should download some stuff first. |
i don't get the big deal about enders game. i liked it, but it was nothing amazing.
|
no one said it was amazing
but i enjoyed it as much as any "amazing" book |
Ender's Shadow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
no one said it was amazing
but i enjoyed it as much as any "amazing" book
i'm not criticizing you. not on here, but in general people talk about that book like its so amazing. its entertaining, but i don't see why its a "classic." speaking of books, on the road was really cool. although, for me not the life-changing book that other people have said it was for them. |
you should read The Naked Lunch.
that book will **** you up. |
alright, i'll check it out.
right now i'm reading plato's republic. its kind of disturbing. |
i don't read much. i probably missed a lot of fun reads. people should post easy to read books that were really enjoyable.
because i aint got time to waste |
easy to read book that was enjoyable - The Cat Inside - William S. Burroughs
It's about kittens. |
Catcher in the Rye is an obvious choice.
I remember reading The Giver in like 6th grade and liking it a lot and going back and reading it recently and loving it so much more. |
pixies: sounds good
read catcher and the rye and the giver. both were very enjoyable |
The Golden Compass is neat.
I'd consider it an easy read. The sequels are lame though. Just read The Golden Compass and pretend it's singular. |
I started The Catcher In The Rye today in English. I read The Giver in 7th grade and I think I liked it. I'm gonna re-read it.
I'm reading the Godfather right now. It's sooo ****in good. Almost finished but I would recommend it. |
i never finished catcher in the rye. i probably should do that sometime.
one book that i read recently was "colossus: the rise and fall of the american empire". its excellent. anybody that takes any interest in their country or world affairs should read this book. |

He needs to do Nothing Nice to Say again. The Tall Bike Crew story arc had some promise.
EDIT: Oh shit it's back! |
Ender's Shadow sucked balls. Ender's Game is where it is at.
|
Lets talk about how i have a show at the end of the month, and my band has had like one pratice ever.
|
i got a package today and for some reason the dude included the last heartattack issue which i didn't really want.
i decided to look through it. i regret it so much. |
so did the news about gospel turn out to be true?

<3
I'll agree with everything you said but this. You obviously haven't read enough Burroughs if you think Kerouac is better.
Read "On the Road" and that will change. Burroughs shoots heroin and writes stream of consciousness; you're probably one of those people that jerk off to him but have no idea what he means, to be honest. I don't know what he means half the time. -Gav |
We never read anything way radddd in english class until youre a senior. Then again, my english teacher last year said when he first read some of the books we read that year, he thought they all kind of sucked, then he read them again and college and now "The Awakening" is his favorite book. thought it kind of blew, it was extremely straightforward and didnt make me think about anything besides 'o noez theres a chick whos not a housewife like the other chicks because shes trying to bone some dude with the same name as me on the side'.

Oh, and I want to read American Psycho.

I don't know what he means half the time. -Gav
I've read plently of Kerouac and Burroughs, I was heavily into the beat thing in 10th grade. Burroughs acutally was not really a junkie during any of his major writings, I think he really was only using heavily during The Naked Lunch but that was written over such a long period of time that it's hard to determine. The difference between Burroughs and Kerouac is acutally the complete opposite of what you said. Half the time I find when reading Kerouac that half of what he is writing is useless dribble (Which is funny because on the other side of the spectrum, I absolutely hate Hemingway), where as with Burroughs he's always being satrical or pointing out some flaw. I think I like Burroughs so much because you have to invest time, I don't think anyone gets The Naked Lunch the first time through completely. I'm sure many are replused you know, because that's one of the main purposes of it. But whatever. And by the way I like the nice burn in there about how I like things but don't really get them. It's kind of like you and ya know.. coming in this forum and pretending you're super into hardcore, when.. ya know I first came here and you were like BLINK 182 OMgz. Get off your high horse and go floor punchin' budd-o. |

The best thing you'll probably read in high school is Virginia Woolf. And she isn't that great. Maybe you'll read "Crime and Punishment" but ugh, that's like 300 pages longer than it should be. |
Read Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis. He's the same guy that did American Psycho and Laws(Rules?) Of Attraction. Probably one of the best books I've read. If you like Catcher, you'll love it. It's written in that style.
Other than that, I suggest The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. Incredible piece of work. |
Yeah, Im pretty sure its Rules of Attraction. They made some crappy movie out of it with the dude from Dawsons Creek.
