I jammed for a lil over two hours today and got my picking back up to par.
I improved Sixpounder (the part I know so far) alot. Next thing to learn is the first chorus. Once I learn it and have it sounding pretty good... I'll take a video cuz I don't have a mic to record. |
You do that. Wait hes banned lol. Hahahahahahahhaahahha.

 you have the wrong songs... go and buy an full album
Honestly, I have to agree with him. I'm getting back into Bodom, after them having a large period as one of my favorite bands, and if you really listen to their songs, you'll find they have nearly the same chord patterns throughout. |

Every melodic metal band is like that. If you look at In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Wintersun, Norther, etc. etc., they all have giant similarities in chord progressions. |
i think there even exist a book of gotheburg-chord progressions

Maybe im reading you wrong here but CoB aren't Melodic Death Metal. |
Yea almost all of their stuff is the same, But that works when it's all good.
I want to see them do something completely new someday...like a acoustic album maybe...that would be cool, Or Alexi could show off his Jazz chops. |

CoB are playing quite near me tonight, but I can't go because I've got exams all week :upset:
I really want to see them, but the last three times they've come to the UK I haven't been able to make it :( I hope I see them one day. |
No, he's right.
All but about 3 of their songs sound the same.
All you bullies like to say that about Bodom but never do I hear it about Dragonforce, where it is to a much harsher degree. Most metal bands have songs that sound similar, and Bodom's really aren't that similar depending on the album. Listen to Hatebreeder, most of the songs don't sound much like eachother, but on Follow the Reaper you could say they do. |
Yes, Dragonforce really suffer from that, as do Dark Tranquillity. And I never said COB were melodic death.
|
Yeah I don't really see the big deal though, I mean there is a line between ripping yourself off and staying in style, and I don't think Bodom crosses into the ripping themselves off category. AYDY comes close with all the songs being in C minor and starting on a Drop C chord but it's not still as bad as a lot of bands like Dragonforce where each song is a slight variation of the last. The benefit though is if you like one song you basically like them all, so I don't see what there is to complain about.
|
I think looking at the very first note of the song is a really stupid thing to look at. Almost every song starts on the C, but every song on the album also sounds completely different. Maybe it's just me.
|
They sound slightly similar to me just becuase it is all in C Minor, with very little use of modes or different keys.
|
The only similar songs I can see are Living Dead Beat and the title track, but even that's a stretch. The reuse of the key makes the album flow and fit together instead of sounding like a random collection of songs.
|
You could say that, I wasn't complaining. I don't think any of Bodom's stuff sounds too similar.
|
I don't either, damn we're so similar!! :)
I've been listening to this band a lot lately. They're so good! |

Yeah I've been listening to Bodom for over a year, that's a long time for me. I wonder if I'll ever stop. |
