I kind of agree, except for MAYH, which is an amazing album
Definitely. I can't get enough of that album, the feeling I get when I listen to it is amazing. |
I've been really getting into the song When recently, it's one of my favorites now.

That song is really good. I always get misty the last few lines... |
You'd probably appreciate this then:

Me too. I love everything about that song. Fun to play too, except the first solo has annoying fingering. I'm using By the Pain I See In Others for a school video. :) |

What about mate? |
I think Still Life and Blackwater Park are their best.
Yeah, me too, Moses. Best song-writing, IMO. But God damn.. I just can't seem to get into Orchid or Morningrise like any of their other albums. :\ The production doesn't worry me either.. they just don't seem to flow all too well. I need to listen to them alot more, I'm sure I'll appreciate them after more thorough listens. Hopefully, they will grow on me like vines. (<- borrowed from Flynn, sorry. :smoke: ) |
Haha, grow on you like vines... they grope me like the firm, erotic, grip of a loving tentacle monster.
|
The Moor.
That is all. *eargasmspasms myself* EDIT: Has anyone seen Opeth play any songs from Still Life other than White Cluster? Live, of course. |
They play the Moor and Godhead's Lament all the time. I've read they play Serentiy Painted Death too. They don't usually play White Cluster, they only did that recently as a rare thing, I believe.
They also played Face of Melinda fairly recently too, and Benighted for the first time when they were doing the Damnation tour. |
Opeth is coming to my town in June... I've heard alot of good things about their guitarists and I think I'm going to attend their show but I haven't heard much of them to be honest. Can someone recommend me some songs that aren't too black metal? I'm not the biggest fan of black metal in general...

The 'Peth are hardly black metal. Songs: Softer Stuff: To Bid You Farwell Credence Face Of Melinda Benighted Harvest Windowpane In My Time Of Need Death Whispered A Lullaby To Rid The Disease A Fair Judgement Isolation Years Heavier Stuff: April Ethereal When Demon Of The Fall The Moor Godhead's Lament Serenity Painted Death The Leper Affinity Bleak The Drapery Falls Deliverence Master's Apprentices Ghost Of Perdition The Baying Of The Hounds Those are the best! Far too many but too hard to pick from. :P I'll leave someone else to name songs from Morningrise and Orchid as I'm not really to big a fan of those albums. |
BRI??
And the played White Cluster when I went. |

Thanks man! What I meant by black metal (I'm not that good at seperating genres like black/death/viking metal and so on) is the "I'm an angry orc" vocals. I've heard Opeth has some of that :upset: |

Yeah the band sounds really great but the vocals kinda ruins stuff a little for me. Maybe I'll get used to it over time. |
Its weird hearing someone say Mike's vocals ruin it.
|

My brother says it sadly. Though, fortunately, he is starting to like them more and more especially after I suggested Damnation to him. |
If anything, Mike makes the music BETTER. Imagine them with...say...Karl Sanders as a frontman. Wouldn't work...
|

My rythym guitarist said this of them after seeing them at Sounds of The Underground: "Man, they were boring! He wasn't that great of a singer and their songs were too long!" (he's not the most keen of metal fans :p) I proceeded to make fun of his obsession with Dave Mustaine. |

Sanders' singing voice is good for a few laughs though. |

yea. Mike has one of the best singing voices in the metal genre. Well, i dont want to make him out as a god, But he does have a great voice. Missed my concert on the 5th:upset: |

My step-dad was going to take me, because he didnt want me taking his truck, but his sister got real sick and she was about to die of cancer. I was pretty psyched about it, but i understood. Hell i was even getting ready to give him a couple hundred bucks. |
My step-dad was going to take me, cuz he didnt want me taking his car, but his sister got real sick and shes about to die.
I understood though.
Wow... ummm... that's really, really bad and I'm sorry for you and your step-dad's family. That's really bad. :( |
The biggest complains I've heard:
a) Vocals b) length of the songs Those are the "worst" things aobut Opeth. Then again, growled vocals aren't for everyone. I'll audition for a band at school (it's only 10-13 year old kids) As a vocalist. I'll give them a little death metal esque growling and see what happens. Yeah. |
aaaah i wish i could growl well.....but i dont know how.....and i sound especially weird when i try to cause im a girl
