DREMEL SANDER TO THE RESCUE! Whew. Pickups fit again.
|
The shire on the end is kinda clumsy when spoken. You'll hear it dropped to Worcester sauce quite a lot. Laziness ftw!
I heard an American call red Leicester cheese 'red lye-chester' once though D:
Haha, it's just Lester isn't it? Like, Leicester Tigers. |
My 4 FX loop pedal is up and working. Stupid me had the 3PDT switches oriented incorrectly. I'm going to attempt to etch the PCBs for the tube OD pedal and the ring mod pedal tomorrow. If it fails, I'm just going to pay some guy online to do it for me. I really want to get at least one of them done before the next semester.
I also went to put the pickups back into my Brice and they don't fit anymore. Very strange. I'm wondering if it has to do with wood expansion or something. I really don't want to have to try to router 1mm on each side of the pickup cavity, but I may not have a choice. Ugh
It's like a chick dude, you didn't touch it for ages and it got sad and ate and now it's fat. |

 Probably so. I came up with a pretty cool idea for marking the frets on the bass. Because it's the one that has the neck with Rage Guy on the fingerboard, I can't mark them there. I was inspired by the tapes I put on my upright. I'm going to make 2mm white lines down the back and sides of the neck and put on normal side dots. The lines will be visible from my position, but will leave the front unscathed. :) |
Some dude at a supermarket checkout just made some snotty ass comment because I had 1 donut in my basket. What a fucking dick. I'm in better shape than him anyway and the rest of my basket was all about £25 worth of vegetables, rice and fresh meat. He made me right angry D:
|
He probably had a donut around his dick and the glaze was causing chafing, thus his irritability. Don't take it personally.
|
Report him, get him fired, then sweet revenge shall be exacted.
|
he's a cunt. last time i use the baskets express lane.
i want to go on tour, like... right now. could do with just getting away for a bit :/ |
Also, what's a good sport to take up when you're 23 and have no prior track record in sports at all? Haha. Fancy doing something to keep fit and meet some new peoples.

Plenty of adult leagues cater to people like that. Racquetball is always a fun one that isn't too strenuous for someone who doesn't play sports much. |
Darts.

Nothing will get exercised except your wanking arm, which, should be getting plenty of of exercise.
|
Actually on a serious note if you want a serious all-body work-out plus cardio, that you can do socially while going at your pace, you should just hit the swimming pool with a few mates.
|
Oh and rock-climbing is bad-ass.
Oh and rock-climbing is bad-ass.
Rock climbing is badass. Went to a rock gym recently with the girlfriend and her brother. Some of the walls are intense. It's so much more about technique and flexibility than strength. Like karate. Grades are official. I got two B's, an A-, an A, and an A+. Damn that feels good. Next semester, I'm going for all A+'s. |
Yeah it's an example of real useful strength, not vanity-strength ie; bodybuilding.
|
I hate swimming. I never did it when I was little cuz I was the fat kid, and I didn't like getting half naked haha XD
I wouldn't mind trying climbing though - a few people I know a bit do bouldering sometimes, so I might try and tag along if they show me the ropes. I wouldn't say it's any more useful strength than bodybuilding when bodybuilding is done correctly though. When people build size for the sake of size, it's pretty vile, but you can get some pretty functional strength and great looks out of it too. I lift weights a bit, but I wouldn't say I was a bodybuilder by any stretch! :| I would do MMA if I wasn't such a pussy hah :/ |
Rockclimbing probably isn't actually enough cardio to lose weight efficiently.
Jogging is the most efficient way really. Just at a moderate pace and for longer. Taking walks if you have to. Jogging for about an hour is 1000 times better than sprinting for 10 minutes. |
Swimming will nail the cardio the best, running has the impact damage on your knees and whatnot.
Look up interval training too, it's supposed to be extremely effective. I don't really exercise outside of doing the odd set of chin-ups here and there and kicking a football around so I don't have heaps of info. |
I'm not really looking to do a sport to get me into shape. I've already got that bit covered. It's more something to do when I am in shape. If you've ever played squash, you'll know what I mean! :p
|
Well if you want to play the only sport that counts, rugby.
|
Well if you want to play the only sport that counts, rugby.
This. Seriously. My cousin does it and loves it. |
Rugby is to sport what anti-tank rounds are to nerf darts.

First I LOL'd for the tr00thfulness. Then I reread. Your analogy saddens me. Specific example is to generalization as specific example is to specific example? Do it again. |
Rugby is to <insert name of specific sport> what anti-tank rounds are to nerf darts.
You bastard. |
rugby is to badminton what anti-tank rounds are to nerf darts.
you bastard.
ftfy. EDIT: <3 |
I just found mammothelectronics.com. Probably the cheapest pedal parts supplier I've ever found. And they have 4PDT switches for about $5 each! Sweet!
Next project is a simple one - it's an FX order swap. Allows you to take two pedals and switch the order of them. I figure it'll be useful for A/Bing effects combinations. I'm also going to send one to my buddy for a belated Christmas gift. |
I want some jam donuts and a milkshake.
Make it happen internet. |

That's the best I've got for you. |
Ah shit, I ordered the 1590A enclosures, which are quite tiny. I don't know that it's possible to fit six 1/4" jacks into it. And even if I can, it might be too tight to house the switch too.
|
Where the fuck is Shellharbour?
|
F**k if I know. I'm literally on the other side of the world.
|
you mean you don't know?
dude, it's basically wollongong |

nuh uh, i knows my geography D:

Joel.
You ever worked with cutting up drum breaks and making awesome new songs from them? Trying to program some drums with a friend of mine for some new music, but I wanted to go beyond just programming a MIDI sequence in, and use audio samples. I want to do some amen fuckery, but I don't want to use the Winstons' amen sample. I've programmed an amen break into Reaper, and put my own samples on. Messed with the velocity and humanised it all a little, then bounced it down to a wav. I want to cut the wav up into 8th note chunks, then rearrange them to make new breaks. All is well. Except I can't cut them into perfect 8th notes because the hits don't land exactly on the beats (this is probably because I humanised it a little, but I imagine the original amen sample has the same problem, as it was played by a human!), so I get horrible stuttering and stuff. If I cut them earlier/later, then my clips are the wrong length and don't line up properly to make full bars :/ I'm already cutting to a zero point to minimise unwanted artifacts, so I don't know what to do about it really :( I know people do make breaks this way though, so it's kind of frustrating. |
Put them into Pro Tools and Beat Detective them? Lol I know you don't have pro tools and there will probably be too much shit going on to do it easily.
Um, it kind of needs to be made Elastic. Like it confirms to the grid no matter what tempo (within reason). It's how apple loops and shit work. I know how to do it in Pro Tools but I'm lost in Reaper. My favourite way to make loops is to use lil' old Ez Drummer, just the default kit, which actually sounds amazing, the room is really good. Take a couple of MIDI loops and drag them from Ez Drummer into Pro Tools and rearrange them into a 4-16 bar loop. Then smash it through my outboard compressor and bounce it down to a stereo file and add electronic drums and basses and shit from there. I find MIDI soooo much easier than dealing with cutting regions/clips. ESSENTIALLY, you need to figure out how to turn it into a loop that will change to match the tempo of the song. If I was you I'd only worry about the kick drums, allign those to the grid, then find the tempo the loop is at. Make it work to that tempo and then make "elastic" or whatever Reaper uses. I'll post some loops and shit that I've smashed through my compressor, sounds amaaaazing. |
800th page!

edit:
Racquetball is always a fun one that isn't too strenuous for someone who doesn't play sports much.
Tore a bunch of ligaments in my right arm playing racquetball a few years back. and then when they finally healed, I tore my left arm up skiing on the last day the fuckin' hill was open. The best. |
LMAO. I knew that was going to happen, when I posted it was on the 800th page :(
