Illmatic 06-25-2005 08:44 PM

I'm black, so I love to steal

Wait, what?

I've been gone for a while but I actually haven't left my living room (only room in the house with air conditioning++) so I've just been chillin and watching TV and movies and laying on the couch with my woman :)

I'm glad I missed out on the Tool talk, to be honest  because I've never been a really big fan...they just never clicked with me. I don't really like Maynard's voice all that much (actually, I don't mind him so much when he's shouting and stuff, but when he's singing he's annoying as hell) and the music itself is pretty boring to me.

Jazzmetal song I wrote and recorded today. Not done, I still need to do vocals and some solo guitar but this is the base of it.
I'm black, so I love to cop/s-block shit, smoke crack, bust caps and talk in ebonics

Wait, what?
Fix'd for stereotype's sake.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 08:47 PM

That reminds me...I know a lot of you probably aren't big fans of the Rolling Stones, but I've found I can do a pretty good/interesting cover of "Sympathy of the Devil". Is that something I should take the effort in recording and uploading?

NP: Petey's jazz metal song...pretty cool work, Pete. My only complain is that it sounds a little tinny.
Fix'd for stereotype's sake.

You read me like a book, Pete!

(BTW, do you get annoyed by me calling you "Petey"? I grew up in Boston so I'm used to calling Pedro Martinez by that name...it's force of habit, really)

Dancin' Man 06-25-2005 08:56 PM

I don't mind Pete but I hate Petey. I've actually decided that come college I'll introduce myself as Pete rather than Peter which I have been called almost my entire life.

Thanks for the comment. I think I like the tinny sound but am not yet sure. I wanted the guitar, especially the high tones to really pop out and so I went with tinny.

P.S. if anyone could tell me what style the rhythm of the main theme represents I'd be forever indebted to you.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 08:58 PM

OK, good to know...I'll try to never call you "Petey" (I'm not going to make a promise I can't keep...it'll probably slip out every now and then).

I understand your point, it's just that I hate tinny rhythm sections (cuz im black and i liek big bottom in more ways then 1!!!! lol...but seriously, I just don't like it when the meat and potatoes of the song sounds weak). And while I wish I could hold that power over you :p I cannot tell you what the rhythm of the main theme represents.

Dancin' Man 06-25-2005 09:07 PM

Hmmmm... I think it's a bossa nova rhythm but am not sure.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 09:10 PM
Hmmmm... I think it's a bossa nova rhythm but am not sure.
What are you getting at?

Mr. McHugh, you're trying to seduce me!

Welp, I'm totally mystified when it comes to the rhythm.

Dancin' Man 06-25-2005 09:19 PM

I wish I knew. I need to get someone who knows everything to listen. I'll ask NPC, Amit and Nacho. One of them will know.

Endless Obsession 06-25-2005 09:20 PM

Hello everyone.

I have been doing nothing but smoking/drinking/practicing with my band for the past three days. God summer is amazing. Ive been out for like two weeks and it already feels like months.

And I just got back from the Indians game which was sweet since they came back.

Summer is faaaantastic.

And speaking of the Indians, the Sox whooped up on you guys last week and they'll do it again this week (and this time I'll get to go to one of the games!)

Illmatic 06-25-2005 09:39 PM

Also, I've decided to take my stepdad to the Red Sox game on Tuesday...even though my gf really wants to go, I'll assume she'll understand how much this means to him.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-25-2005 09:49 PM

Madey- CS isn't even that cool.

Ray- Nice choice. I woulda taken my gf.*

I agree, CS is great, not really an amazing game, just fun.

Eh, it's a complicated situation. Well, maybe it isn't, but I have my reasons for taking my stepdad and I don't want to sound whiny by posting them.

And stop trying to take Vince's place.

Huh?

..Oh is the wallowing-in-self-pity position taken? Darn.

I think I heard your situation partially a few days back, but I wouldn't mind hearing. :) Unless you don't wanna post it, which is also fine. :shrugs:

So, today, I got back from work at 9:30 AMish, and my mom was sitting watching Even Stevens on The Disney Channel. I was like..umm mom? Shouldn't you be watching like the Gardening Channel or something? Then I went back to work, and came home around 7:00 and my dad was watching freaking BET. I was like double wtf dad?

Sattelite is screwing my family :-/

Unfortunately, I live in Brandon, Mississippi. I was born in Boston though, and lived there for ten years. I still visit frequently.

Haha, Mississippi...then again, Big Al Jefferson is from MS, so...I dunno.
I think I heard your situation partially a few days back, but I wouldn't mind hearing. Unless you don't wanna post it, which is also fine. :shrugs:
Well I mean, it goes far beyond that...I mean, it's been long-thought that baseball is a bonding moment for fathers and sons, which is obviously something I have not been able to experience (I went to one or two baseball games with my dad, and I never got a game of catch---I'd be lying if I said it didn't get dusty whenever I see the end of Field of Dreams). And I think I've unfairly taken it out on my stepdad, a good guy who tries to be like a father to me and normally we get along fine, but I think when it comes to historical father-son bonding moments I tend to shut him out and shoot him down. So this gesture, I think, would really mean a lot to him.

i am the robots 06-25-2005 10:15 PM

Dirt floors are cool though, helps if you need to hide something, just bury it under your bed.

RCA 06-25-2005 10:16 PM

Too much work. I'll just get caught and blame it on my brother.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-25-2005 10:18 PM

Oh ok. That's a good move Ray. I'm sure you've been through a lot, and I'm sure showing your step dad that you guys are close would mean a ton to him to. :) Good choice. You may wanna explain to your girl though, if you haven't already. :-/

Panty lines and sporks. I tell ya, this place gets good when certain people step in.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-25-2005 10:34 PM

Yeah guys...The baseball talk is ok, but cyber sex is the kind of crap that we all want out of this thread and back into the pit. Or just gone for good.

JPJ- Overly homo-erotic? Any amount of homo-eroticism is overly homo-erotic.

NP: Arriving Somewhere but not Here- Porcupine Tree

I heart this entire cd. It is the definition of unsexually orgasmic.

RCA 06-25-2005 10:36 PM

I've heard a few Porcupine Tree songs; definitely not bad. I can see myself slowly getting into them.

i am the robots 06-25-2005 10:37 PM

I have yet to hear PT, but Stephen Wilson has contributed so much to Opeth, and I must say, that alone gives them my respect.
