5 MF DOOM 20
6 Kanye West 18
7 Beastie Boys 11

7 Hundred Reasons 11

Coldplay is good revision music, I don't really listen to them under normal circumstances. Mastodon was for when I got sick of listening to Coldplay, didn't get a lot of revision done to it though.
Top stuff. I can completely sympathise with your band-bashings. Justification alert.
Because he likes some things that you like - he's allowed to bash other bands? What the fuck is this? Let's not fall further into indie clichés where the bands you enjoy equal the quality of your opinion. I'm not sure how we can value his opinion when his criticisms offer no clarity and consist of juvenile insults. C'mon, he had a "Ben Gibbard is a fag" thread...

You're paranoid.

Ambitious Sixty and the Straight Murder - Monger Bunny
The steel-drum/grindcore/jazz fusion 18 piece's 35th studio album full of singalong classics like Rectal Happiness, Smacked Up On Gnat, Thanks for the Ebola Ectoplasm and a cover of Southern Expansion and the Homo Area's Ballsed Up in Curved Optimism that has to be heard to be believed.

Glorified Kitchen and the Hopeless Sunflower - Detached Nicotine of the Securely Insecurity
Anti-folk classics from everyone's favourite paraplegic, if Pebble of the Lost Degenerate does not bring tears to your eyes, then you have no soul.

Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, and The Libertines.

It's the first indie stuff I've really been listening to, and I love it :)

Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress
Basement Jaxx - Rooty
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - I've tried but there's nothing I can like about this album. I can put up with 'unique' vocals, but not this guy.
Bear Vs Shark - Right Now You're In The Best Of Hands

NineBitFable 06-12-2006 01:25 PM

Pluto- Dance Stamina + Long White Cross

These are the only two songs I can find from them. . . but they are badass.

BillCosby 06-12-2006 03:25 PM

My next week's last.fm is going to be insanely Cursive-heavy.

pixiesfanyo 06-12-2006 03:38 PM

Happy Hollow is alot good.

If by "a lot" you mean "the opposite of."

1 Platinum Pied Pipers 37
2 Brian Eno 24
3 Serge Gainsbourg 15
3 Harry Nilsson 15
5 Scott Walker 14
6 Spank Rock 13
7 Stereolab 12
7 Camp Lo 12
9 Xiu Xiu 11
9 Casiotone for the Painfully Alone 11

And other ****. Listening to The Pop Group for the first time right now. Sounded horrible on speakers, not bad on headphones.
If by "a lot" you mean "the opposite of."
Just listen to it an imagine it's not a Cursive record.
You'll like it alot more.

asymm 06-12-2006 06:25 PM

Scott Walker - The Drift
Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped
My first time through the record is right now. "Do You Believe in Rapture?" is a great song - but I'm getting nervous about the entirety's quality. I'll have to just let it play out and see what happens.

Glitterati 06-12-2006 06:56 PM

Television - Marquee Moon

I don't see why Television were compared to The Ramones. They blew them out of the water. Or maybe I'm just saying that because I hate The Ramones.

Television >>>>>>>> The Ramones. i see no similarity.
Television was smart, cool, and ahead of their time.
The Ramones were bland pop-rock.
But in his defense, Ben Gibbard is a fa[g.
Still he bashes 10 bands for every 3 that he actually starts a constructive discussion on. And frankly, insults in alt/indie should at least be entertaining to read.

pppoe 06-12-2006 07:06 PM

i always thought they sounded like a combination of The Rolling Stones and Talking Heads. Either way, that album is perfect and the title track is really fun to jam along to on bass

lucky!

so far i had downloaded Sleepin' Around, Incinerate, Reena, and Pink Steam. i love a of it, except Reena is kinda lame. i miss how intense and aggressive Kim used to be in her punk-fucking-rock days in the early 80's.
Making the Nature Scene and their cover of I Wanna be your Dog were great. now she's just kind of annoying and dry.

You know you like it you sick ****.

Today:

The Free Design - The Now Sound Redesigned

It's a tribute album in which hip-hop artists revamp songs from that band. I was surprised to hear Murs and Dudley Perkins in this one.

Cryptopsy - None so Vile
Make Up - Untouchable Sound

Make Up were sex.

i have Save Yourself by Make Up.
great CD, but i found myself skipping between the same 4 or 5 songs a lot, since that CD had a lot of bland tracks. is that CD better?

Kurtz 06-12-2006 07:20 PM

Hey, I like Television and Ramones.

They were compared because they were both part of the New York punk scene.

cb240 06-12-2006 07:22 PM

And they both put CBGB on the map.

Little Man being Erased 06-12-2006 07:47 PM

Interpol - Antics
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism
Gomez - Bring It On
Pixies - Surfer Rosa / Come on Pilgrim
Sleater-Kinney - One Beat

cb240 06-12-2006 07:55 PM

NMH - Aeroplane (Secret Mix)

Much more ambient feel... pretty good I guess

Zebra 06-12-2006 08:28 PM

Jurassic 5 - Power in Numbers

This album is so cool and bad-***. I love it.

I listened to this a lot, then I stopped, and now I'm reviving it because it's great.
I wasn't too thrilled by it. I don't think I listened closely enough, though. Or maybe I listened too closely. I'll give it another whirl.

Kurtz 06-12-2006 08:41 PM

The Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed

Oh my god, now officially one of my favorite albums ever.

The one I'm digging is a live album, and it consists mostly of songs from Save Yourself. I'd recommend I Want Some for that raw and dirty feel, and/or In Mass Mind (my favorite Make Up album) which is a pretty accessible but still very substantial release.

YDload 06-12-2006 08:48 PM

Minus The Bear- They Make Beer Commercials Like This

Just an EP but all the songs are great, especially "Let's Play Clowns" and "I'm Totally Not Down With Rob's Alien." Ugh but those song titles :(

Robert Crumb 06-12-2006 08:54 PM
