Yah it's just a regular pick. Only way I can tell it apart from my own is that it got scratched to hell when it dropped on the ground.
Just make a sign that says ''Play Black Rose Immortal!''
Maybe I will... along with Face of Melinda, Blackwater Park, To Bid you Farewell, Hope Leaves, The Moor... and the list goes on

UpperDecker 03-06-2006 11:03 PM

Morningrise and Orchid still own all other albums. They don't just own them, they PWN them! Followed closely by 3rd place Still Life and 4th place Blackwater Park. The other albums can just order themselves, i dont feel like it. Good Day.

Morningrise and Orchid, even though they have some great ideas, are amatuer compared to the songwriting on Still Life and Blackwater Park.

TojesDolan 03-06-2006 11:08 PM

Meh they are good but I'm still a little bugged about the production value.

Not that it's important, though. Black metal has very lousy production (at least the tr00 one) yet it's great music. But I prefer the better production value. More money to produce it, I guess.

This is true, though I still vastly enjoy them all.

Dude, To Bid You Farewell live would be legendary...it all depends on how Mendez can play it.

He's perfectly capable.

Deth 03-07-2006 10:40 AM

He doesn't play a 6 string fretless though.

Det_Nosnip 03-07-2006 01:59 PM

He could probably get one...or...*gasp* not play it exactly note for note as it appeared on the record!

But the record version is totally amazing. (Though I can just about manage to play it on a fretted four string in drop d)

 *shock*

Mendez really could play it...he's perfectly capable of playing anything Johan did.

While the production certainly holds them back, their first albums seemed to be th most meaningful in terms of feeling for me. The newer stuff definitely has better writing in countless ways, but Orchid and Morningrise had that unexplainable thought-provoking kind of sound.

NymphetamineX 03-07-2006 04:38 PM

Ok, this may sound really dumb or have been asked before, but the clean singing in Bleak off of Blackwater Park. Is that Mikael singing? I don't think it really sounds like him, but I could be wrong.

It's a harmony of Steve Wilson and Mikael. High singing = Steve. Low = Mikael

ironmanx 03-07-2006 04:40 PM

Its Steve Wilson, from Porcupine Tree. He produced Deliverence & Damnation, and BWP.

NymphetamineX 03-07-2006 04:58 PM

Ahh, thanks. I keep hearing about Porcupine Tree and Steve, so I'll guess they're worth checking out. How similar are they to Opeth?

PT are more psychadelic and mellow with barely any metal sections. They have a much more spacey feel and their early work can be compared with Pink Floyd.

I see. Thanks for the info, maybe I'll check them out sometime.

Thanks a lot dude, sounds cool! I gotta go now, but I'll check on that later. Thanks again.

TojesDolan 03-07-2006 05:13 PM

I couldn't really understand why I had to strech my voice for the clean vocals of Bleak.

Then I heard about it, but it sounds nothing like Wilson on that particular song. Maybe I'm just going crazy.

It doesn't sound like Wilson till you find out it's really him.

I kind of agree, except for MAYH, which is an amazing album

Moses 03-07-2006 05:23 PM

I think Still Life and Blackwater Park are their best.

 I've done that...

Shattered_Future 03-07-2006 05:50 PM

I had a horrible problem once, I didn't know the guy's email, and couldn't copy it, then go back and copy the links as well, as it would erase the email...

Darkness 03-07-2006 06:27 PM

I just create a text file or something, paste it there, copy the other, paste it there, then have both.

Deth 03-07-2006 08:01 PM

Hey, me too. It's what I did when I sent you that awesome Blind Guardian song you didn't appreciate .
