Question.
Why do Metalcore musicians put so little effort into seeming at all like they play metal? Its such a rarity to see someone who takes the effort to grow long hair or wear metal shirts. Metalcore musicians look more like the average college student or numetal worshipper than someone who is passionate about metal. To me it seems like they try to be "heavy" or "hardcore" to be kooky, yet they are afraid of what society or their parents might think if they actually grow their hair out, wear metal shirts or put any kind of artistic direction into their image. You can argue that it's so CoOl to see musicians who don't care about their image or being metal but this is actually known as laziness. That band was terribly generic.
I don't care about my image. I'm the vocalist of a melodic hardcore band. I'm pretty average-looking I guess you could say. Somewhat long hair and gotee. You know what? Image doesn't mean **** to me. I listen to music for the music, not for the way the people look that play it. So yeah, I'm one of the close-minded ignorant fools that aruges people are "cool that don't care about their image." Not cool, respectable. If you do care about your image to a large extent and you need to make sure you look "metal", you're a poser. Trust me. I'm the vocalist of a melodic hardcore band but I started out as one for a Deathcore band and all we wanted to do was sound like Job For a Cowboy? Pretty gay, huh? We let our image take the best of us and tried to be a scene band and we ended up sucking...badly. The band I'm in now has respectable members. We play at venues where you either have a breakdown every two seconds or the kids boo you off the stage. It's hard, trust me. We're all average looking dudes playing music we love. We're not lazy. Only one member in my band would look cool as a Metal head and he's going for that style because it's the way he wants to look. |

Why do you care so much about what they look like? The music is what counts and I adore this genre. BTW, DJ do you have a link to your band's myspace or something because melodic hardcore owns. |
Get into some superslamobamacore.

I prefer melodic chainsawcore

We're recording a 5-track EP during Feb vacation. Other than that, I've got some RAW demos lying around, but they're just crappy recordings that aren't worth showing. I'll give you a link when we have material up. We actually just recently covered Muse's "Knight of Cyndonia" at a show and made it heavy. XD As for now, you can listen to a Melodic Hardcore band that sounds NOTHING like us. It's my friends' band, Despite it All. www.myspace.com/despiteitallmusic Here's our myspace, with no songs on it yet: www.myspace.com/onthewingsofvictory |
i've just got around to listening to Prayer for Cleansing, WOW!

I can see where you're coming from with the artistic image thing, but in the end I don't think the genre you play should dictate how the members of your band look. and not everyone wants to be some skinny, pale, black shirt wearing Varg Vikernes lookalike either. |
after that im gonna get either this
http://www.yourmusic.com/browse/album/Saosin--Saosin-139311.html?cname=BROWSE_DISCO_36159_ALBUMS or this: http://www.yourmusic.com/browse/album/Shadows-Fall--Threads-Of-Life-145806.html?cname=BROWSE_DISCO_37633_ALBUMS |
