I was serious when I said they were good Mike. I shat you not am I correct?
That last track, Upschteined, holy ****. I listened to it 3 times in a row the first time I heard it. To be honest though, Kage, you probably won't like them. |
Why?
|
They're happy and bouncy
|
rofl
I like some Happy and Bouncy stuff. For example my NP is John Mayer - No Such Thing |
You could give em a shot. They're not bouncy all the time, but they're happy all the time. If he hasn't forwarded it to you, I can send my original link to you.
The last track though, you will definitely like, happiness notwithstanding. |
Send 'er then.
|
She's been sent. There's other albums on the email I sent to Mike, all good stuff, so grab that too.
|
I've already got the Miasma but I'll grab both the other albums.
|
Yeah I meant to put another instead of other.
|
I just got Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven and hot damn, it's excellent.
|
The first five minutes of that album is some of the best music you'll ever hear.
|

The entire thing is wonderful. It's hard to believe music could be this good, really. |
has any1 heard crippled black phoenix
|
post rock is dead
|
post rock is dead
Only in your head. And your bed. Ned. /rhyme |
He's right, actually.
|
Not really.
It annoys me so much any time somebody says a genre is dead. No matter how many purists want to believe that just because the originals of a genre aren't making music any more, there is always countless bands doing innovative and fresh things, those purists are just too lazy and thickheaded to find them. Pirate Ship Quintet, Miasma And The Carousel Of Headless Horses, The Gentlemen Losers, Bardo Pond, Grails, Clogs, Auto!Automatica!!, and Rosolina Mar for example, just to name a few. Post Rock is far from dead. |
The new Red Sparrowes is good.
|
Good, but not as good as Soundless Dawn.
|

I don't really think so. Miasma And The Carousel Of Headless Horses and Grails' newest albums are easily equal to or better to anything Tortoise or Do Make Say Think ever put out.
|
I'll agree but the biggest face of Post rock being the EITS rip offs is just completely old.
|
Oh of course, but every genre has that. You have to remember that post rock is still relatively young, and just as every genre that is beginning to hit it big, it's going to become overcrowded with soundalikes of the founders. And just as is the case with every genre, there's still a wealth of fresh talent once you look past all of them.
I will say though, Caspian does the EITS thing better than anybody, even EITS. |
I can't stand Tortoise and all that first wave of post rock, some bands are good though (Bark P. for example) but most of them bore me to tears.
has any1 heard crippled black phoenix
Yeah, A Love Of Shared Disasters is a superb album. |

Post rock in its widely accepted form has ceased to actually be post rock and has become a moniker for any instrumental band with reverb pedals. |
Ah cmon now Mike, Tortoise is ****ing excellent. TNT is a masterpiece.
I see what you're saying Kage. Still, there's a plethora of innovative bands out there that I would define as post rock, and I guarantee there will continue to be. |
I find them boring as hell man. Same as Talk Talk, I never got into Laughing Stock. Bark Psychosis on the other hand....Hex is ****ing incredible and so is Slint's Spiderland.
|
Post Rock is a genre I can't see ever dying.
|
Now see, I find Slint to be fairly boring.
TNT just has a perfect slightly jazzy atmosphere about it. Plus the melody in Set My Face To The Hillside is delightfully moody. |
ZOMG, Slint are incredible you fag
I guess I'll give TNT another try. |
You should.
Oh no Slint aren't bad. I just don't find them particularly good. I don't know, maybe I'll give them another shot as well. |
Please do so, Spiderland is one of the best early Post Rock albums I've heard.
I was listening to Maserati on my way home like 2 hours ago, good **** while driving. |
I've got Inventions For The New Season but I haven't listened to it yet.
